    The essential thing that everyone should be thinking about right now is investing in non-government sources of income. Especially in light of the current global economic crisis. It is still a wonderful moment to invest in gold, silver, digital money, and stocks.

    So in Canada we've had regulation passed to remove single use plastics (which is supposed to be good for the environment - not arguing against that) but the question is, now we have restaurants and coffee shops switching to "eco-products" like paper straws and wooden utensils. Is the chemical load we are ingesting from these "paper" products any better than the plastics we are currently using?
    I took a class on indoor air quality at the University of Toronto, and professor Seagal spoke extensively about asbestos insulation and how we have switched to other compounds (i.e. spray foam insulations) which are their own cluster of different chemicals. The burden on society is that we wont know what the impact of these new chemicals are compared to what we were using before. It's almost the question of the "Devil we know, versus the Devil we don't". It's a difficult question to figure out.

These talks should be given at school and college level. Watch the new Our Planet 11 to have the plastic elements confirmed. So disturbing..

    He obviously doesn’t understand what is going on with chocolate. The cacao plants are taking up heavy metals naturally occurring in the soil. So you would need to know the soil composition where the cacao plants are grown. It’s not just the processing of the cacao.

    • @makeadifference4all
      @makeadifference4all Год назад

      His point was that soil has a lot more heavy metals because of industrialization, even in "remote" areas near mining operations and other pollution sources. This process has been underway since the 1800s in the first countries to industrialize and adopt "modern" farming methods.

    • @joe1071
      @joe1071 Год назад +1

      @@makeadifference4all this is true, however they find a lot of naturally occurring heavy metals in the soil all around the world, like cadmium, which is one of the problems in cacao, and it’s in the soil naturally and in higher concentrations near areas of volcanic activity etc. You just don’t know unless the soil is tested

    Love this podcast so much: It’s funny how so many people roll their eyes and scoff at you when you refuse to eat certain foods or use harmful products - if people don’t see an immediate cause and effect (touching fire and getting burnt), they disregard the dangers of the products and foods they consume /use on a daily basis.

    See, it does make sense. It’s all profit driven, and that model ain’t changing anytime soon. We the people need to vote with our dollars. The industry will change based on what people are actually buying. Stop buying crap, and they will have no choice but to adapt. Similar to electric cars. The big car companies, not so long ago, were shitting on the idea of electric cars. It would cost them mega bucks for R&D etc to change so of course they don’t want to do it. Then Tesla starts cutting into their profits (people making change with their collars) and all of a sudden all major car companies have TONS of electric cars. We have more control than we think. Vote with our dollars everyone!
