I put my left turn signal on to let other drivers know when I'm not exiting the roundabout then change to the right turn signal before I get ready to exit. I think this helps a lot
Boy! You guys are doing your thing… was great all about turnabouts, we do have some here in Oregon the outside of the metro area. So I also learned some things today. 😊Good Day!
Great video! I wish you had gone through a roundabout bypass, Jerry. Some people don’t understand that the roundabout speed limit is 20 mph while the bypass speed limit is the same as the road before the roundabout, usually 35 mph. Safe driving, everyone!
THANK YOU for this! We have been visiting TV for 5 yrs & I have yet to drive the car b/c the round-abouts scare me. It finally makes sense & the advice of not having a car next to you is GREAT!!!
These men are of of the best things about Florida! We were residents from 2004-2018. Best law enforcement officers anywhere! They are VERY community minded. Kudos to Jerry and Linda for putting this together. 👏👏👏
That was absolutely FANTASTIC! What a great service for the public and especially The Village people. Thank you so much Sheriff's! Great driving Jerry!
👏 Well done Jerry & Linda and a thank you to our local sheriffs! What a valuable video! Many people will benefit from this and more than likely this may very well prevent future accidents. My brother who was just here was struggling with these roundabouts. Wonderful idea you came up with.😊
That was awesome! We don't have many roundabouts where I live in Tennessee but I love them. The sherrifs were so great. This will help so many drivers. Thanks Jerry and Linda. I just love your videos. 😊
Thanks for this video, but I didn't see how you handle this issue of someone in the right lane in the round a bout continuing on through because they want to go on further through the round a bout and you're in that left lane wanting to turn right to continue on? Even if your right turn signal is on, they could broad side you, regardless, because you're crossing their path. How do you handle this? Thanks
This was a terrific video. My sister has roundabouts where she lives in Washington state but I have never had to use one in my small community in Oregon. I've always been curious how they work and they seemed daunting to me. This was very helpful should I ever have to use one. Thanks to you and the Sheriff's office for this valuable information.
Great show Thanks to the sheriffs office for doing this. That is great information. Specially, for people from California like me we don’t have many roundabouts.
Just the traffic circle in Long Beach (PCH/Lakewood Bl) and the town square in Orange, CA. No others in So Cal of which I am aware. No brainer for the SO's executive officers to come out - the channel reaches 63,000 targeted residents or soon-to-be-residents and if their two or so hours of time reduced even a handful of collisions, the time and money saved is a very good return on their time investment. So glad they were able to recognize that and participate!
What a great video Jerry and Linda...I remember driving to a new job with my friend about 30 or more years ago in NY, and there was a roundabout there. I looked like Chevy Chase in European Vacation passing Big Ben and Parliment well into the night LOL! We were 3 hours late for work, but at least we made it out of that darn circle! Thank you to the 2 wonderful police officers who took the time to make this video so special as well! Safe travels! 🚙🚦🌴
Thanks for another fun video. Interesting that TV has so many. In Jersey when I was young, a million years ago we had many of them. But they have pretty much all been taken out and replaced with traffic lights. My guess is they work much better in limited traffic areas (just a guess). To be honest I’m not a big fan of them. Thanks for the entertainment
I live near Boston and in much our area we have rotaries (that’s what we call them) and they make total sense for what they are intended to do, they actually make busy intersections much safer.
Thank you Jerry and Linda and the Officers of Sumter County for this informative information/lesson on roundabouts in the Villages. As a seasonal visitor to the Villages it really helped to brush up on the rules and courtesies of driving in the roundabouts. See you when we get there in a few weeks.
Great video! It's funny because my wife gets on me in the roundabouts if I'm not following the rules of the roundabout. She says "read the sign, left lane for the second or third exits and use your turn signal." She's like an auxiliary deputy sheriff of Sumter and Lake counties. 🤣
I love roundabouts but my biggest pet peeve is when people stop at the yield sign when there is no traffic in the circle! Is a yield sign people, not a STOP sign!!
We live in MD and love them in our area. Help with congestion. We are used to them so everyone is aware of safety issues. Good luck. Obviously, dealing with us older drivers is a challenge dealing with change.
Nobody of any age likes change. It feels scary especially when driving. One difference I’ve noticed in the US is we don’t have enough signage directing the traffic pattern within roundabouts. In Europe they paint the correct directions on the pavement. Why don’t we do that here? In the roundabout by my house we just have squiggly lines. What does a squiggly line mean? I have no idea and apparently neither does anyone else! It’s so confusing!
There’s a new round about in my area, a week after it opened I witnessed an older gentleman turn left, -as in the 4 way stop - a truck driver (coming toward him)flashed his lights, stopped waved his arm, and the older gentleman kept going. Could have been a wreck but thank goodness a wreck was avoided.
As an older driver I have never received official instructions on how to drive roundabouts. We are getting more and more in Minnesota. This is REALLY HELPFUL....they do require knowing more than what most drivers know. One thing the advice about not having two cars next to each other however that is extremely hard to control. Thanks to the Sheriff's....the Villages should be commended for having such great officers in their employ.
I’ve been to TV a few times and don’t have trouble with roundabouts. I do have to say GPS is a big help cause it indicates where to exit the roundabout. I do find Wisconsin roundabouts confusing. For some reason they have them on expressway exits. And the exits are in the middle of nowhere.
Great video, as always. Thank you! The British have used roundabouts for eons, and every driver is an expert on their use. One thing they do that we don’t is use their turn signal religiously. Understanding each other’s intentions is fundamental to roundabout safety. Here are the basics: 1) as you approach the roundabout: if you will exit at 90deg signal right (left in the UK). If exiting at 270deg signal left. 2) when in the roundabout: as you pass the 2nd exit prior to your intended exit cancel your signal. And as you pass the 1st exit prior to your exit signal right. It’s simpler than it sounds, and it clearly lets others know your intentions.
Thanks for the video. Jerry you made it sound like you follow the speed limit but Linda is a speeder😂 you said you don’t have to worry about seeing a cop car but Linda does. BTW Chuck doesn’t know where the turn signal switch is in our car!
Enjoyed the video once again. You are a little behind on the roundabout count for Carmel though (we live just north of there). They are now up to over 150 roundabouts in Carmel. They build those about as fast as TV builds houses!. Over dual lane busy roads (like Morse), they still build roundabouts, but is structured as an overpass and has a roundabout on each side of the maiin road. They figure a way to put them in everywhere!
This was awesome! ❤The roundabouts in my North Carolina community are single-lane but some aggressive drivers try to pass while navigating. When on the highway, I typically drive in a staggered formation ( if possible ) to leave as much room for unexpected side-to-side movement. This technique is often practiced with groups of motorcycles. ❤Thank you Jerry & Linda!💞
A great, educational video good for anywhere USA. Our town is building more and more roundabouts though our signage is not as good as yours in The Villages. Be well guys!
I live in MI and we have many roundabouts in the suburbs. I live in Lake Orion where we have four roundabouts in a three mile area on a road leading to and from I-75.
Hello Linda and Jerry. I live in Virginia but I enjoy your channel immensely. Jerry is always upbeat and Linda is such a sweet lady. I love your banter and you have expanded your channel to include many interesting guests and topics! I am proud of you. Forgive me if this has been covered before, but do you have Uber or some form of transportation at TV for those who don’t drive? Have a blessed day to a lovely couple. Hugs, Jean Hughes
As always, a great informative video. Little hint for your driving…….your arms are tired at 10 and 2 because you are too far away from the steering wheel……having worked professionally with driving instructors for eons……..
We had tons of them when we lived in New England, but they were all one lane, not two. Hoping to learn something new here today, although, I'm pretty sure I do it correctly. Side note: I purchased a book about TV, called "The Roundabout Way."
We have a lot of roundabouts where I live in Ohio, and more are being constructed all the time. I really wish people would use turn signals. I hardly ever see anyone use them, so you have to really hang back and watch closely. I use mine (😇), but this is so helpful and I wish more used them. And creeping up beside other cars, cutting people off, you really have to slow down and be cautious. And if you miss your turn, just go around again for Pete's sake, don't try to correct and cut someone off! Roundabouts do keep traffic moving.
Great Video. Now I Massachusetts we call Roundabouts Rotaries. The rule of thumb is the person in the Roundabout or Rotary has the right of way. We are new here also. Enjoy your videos
We have round abouts in our region , I just went through a round about , down the street , we need one in our region. We have ALOT of drivers from coming or going , from everywhere. Our cityare GROWING FAST per year .
At 20 minutes into the video you have said what took me a few months to finally learn when we moved here years ago. LEFT lane goes LEFT or straight around the circle. RIGHT lane goes RIGHT or straight around roundabout. Some roundabouts do not help make that clear. For example, coming out of Village of Collier across from Evan’s Prairie Country Club is different in the street markings and confusing. Thank you so much for doing this video. I would love to see The Daily News put daily or semi-weekly drawings and hints so more visitors and Villagers would be aware. Share this video with your friends y’all. Thank you again.
That's a good'n Jerry and Linda. Roundabouts are popping up more and more here in Pa. I've also seen several being constructed in Alabama as well. Thanks for the refresher course.
Wonderful! Your videos always put me in a great mood!
Glad to hear that!
Fantastic video…. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 thanks
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great show, it was just what I needed, to know you both will always be safe,!! !!
🙂🙂🙂
very helpful thanks
You're welcome!
I was honored to meet Pat Breeden in the Villages and at the County fair. Nice guy. He is running for Sheirff!! Go and vote for him
Great job on this video, guys!
Thanks so much!
I put my left turn signal on to let other drivers know when I'm not exiting the roundabout then change to the right turn signal before I get ready to exit. I think this helps a lot
And that’s EXACTLY how one does it correctly!! Thanks for role modeling that for those around you in a roundabout way.
@@patdennis2586 I don't understand why that method isn't taught.
Loved the trip about round abouts. We have them here in Georgia.
Nice Ride Along Great Information
Great show.
Very informative. Thank you for the lesson :)
Very informative. Thanks.
You're welcome!
We are used to round abouts. Used to them from being in the UK - they have had them forever.
Driving it made things clearer. Thank you! : )
Glad it helped!
Very good info. Thanks!!
Boy! You guys are doing your thing… was great all about turnabouts, we do have some here in Oregon the outside of the metro area. So I also learned some things today. 😊Good Day!
Thank you, Cecile!
What a great idea for a show. Great job Jerry.
Thank you for making this video. It was very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks to the Sheriff’s Office for taking the time to do this. Thanks Jerry for putting it together. Well done.
This was a great video episode.
Thank you both for this great video and I really love round-a-bouts…they are fun and really help! Thanks and have a blessed weekend!!! ❤❤🎉🎉
Thank you Mia! You too!
TY so much for the explanation and visuals. I've always struggled w/those round abouts when visiting TV.
Great video! I wish you had gone through a roundabout bypass, Jerry. Some people don’t understand that the roundabout speed limit is 20 mph while the bypass speed limit is the same as the road before the roundabout, usually 35 mph. Safe driving, everyone!
Great point!
Very informative video tonight . Nice to see law enforcement involved in educating the public#Wulffdendad
Thank you to the Sheriff and the Captain and you for this much needed 'tutorial'.
😃
That was great! Very nice of those men to make the time to get with you and educate the public!
this is great to know we will be in the villages in May and now I know how-to drive-in a roundabout Thank you.
THANK YOU for this! We have been visiting TV for 5 yrs & I have yet to drive the car b/c the round-abouts scare me. It finally makes sense & the advice of not having a car next to you is GREAT!!!
You are so welcome!
Thanks for sharing this video Jerry and the sherif's department, a lot of great information
Glad you enjoyed it Debra!
Thank you so much for making this video!! I hope many, many people watch!!
That was very helpful and informative. We have those in Colorado and I'm always wondering if I'm using them correctly. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Great show, maybe TV can use this for a class for residents.
Love seeing you work with local law enforcement.
Great community education! 👮♀️
Thank you Susan!

Village People! Lol. Like the band? Love it!
I love roundabouts. This should be a must watch for all.
👏 Well done Jerry & Linda and a thank you to our local sheriffs! What a valuable video! Many people will benefit from this and more than likely this may very well prevent future accidents. My brother who was just here was struggling with these roundabouts. Wonderful idea you came up with.😊

Not a roundabout fan. And yes, we have them in Michigan.
That was awesome! We don't have many roundabouts where I live in Tennessee but I love them. The sherrifs were so great. This will help so many drivers.
Thanks Jerry and Linda. I just love your videos. 😊
❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you for another fantastic show!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Jerry, Linda and Officers for a very informative video! Loved it!❤
I’ve watched every video Jerry and Linda have done but I don’t think I can recall ever hearing a blinker sound before when Jerry has been driving. 😅
Hey now!!
👍👍👍👍 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for this video, but I didn't see how you handle this issue of someone in the right lane in the round a bout continuing on through because they want to go on further through the round a bout and you're in that left lane wanting to turn right to continue on? I like "roundabouts."
Great show

Roundabouts are starting to pop up in the Sacramento California area. I like them!
So glad you did this video, thank you so much! All viillagers should receive this information.
Glad it was helpful!
"This guy in front of me is fixin' to make a lane change". 😂 The sherriff sounded like Andy Griffith. 😆
😁😁😁

THANK YOU FOR EMPHASIZING TURN SIGNAL USE!
Appreciated that fact that you folks showed how to navigate Roundabouts in actual practice by filming. 3:38 3:42
Very helpful to refresh our understanding and relearn roundabout etiquette.
Great topic done very well!!
I live near Boston and in much our area we have rotaries (that’s what we call them) and they make total sense for what they are intended to do, they actually make busy intersections much safer.
I grew up with rotaries also, having spent much of my life in Mass.
Roundabouts eliminate left turn crashes, the most deadly turn.
PS Your channel is wonderful…fun & informative info rolled into one!
Thanks so much!

Great and hilarious comment Dr Tom! My husband and I were cracking up , yep that’s me, the new auxiliary sheriff!
Roundabouts are great. They keep traffic moving.

You didn’t let the captain talk Jerry !!!
Sure he did! He's talking as I write this!
When I am driving, I am the captain.😆😆😆
Another good one. Not sure I could drive undisrtracted with the constabulary as my passenger. You handled it well.👍
Thanks James!👍

Great information no matter where you live with a roundabout!
lol Jerry looks like he is taking his drivers test. Hands at 10 and 2..
I know… Linda has me trained.
I live in MI and we have many roundabouts in the suburbs. I live in Lake Orion where we have four roundabouts in a three mile area on a road leading to and from I-75.
This was a great video, I now know that I've been doing this correct. Thank you to the officers that took the time to do your video!

Thank you Jean. What a lovely comment. We do have Uber. We have never used it, but have heard that it is here.
do they have golf cart roundabouts on the golf cart paths ?
Yes, there are several!

Yes. Treat it as if it was regular intersection, and you'll know which lane to be in.
That's a good'n Jerry and Linda. Roundabouts are popping up more and more here in Pa. I've also seen several being constructed in Alabama as well. Thanks for the refresher course.
Are you using your right turn signal as you exit the roundabout?
According to WFLA its HAPPY NATIONAL FLORIDA DAY! 🥰🐊🏵🌺🌞🌞
Roundabouts keep the traffic moving. Biggest issue is when people don’t follow the rules of the road! Thanks for the tutorial!
