This is what I don't understand. Scribing isn't great. It isn't game breaking, or meta in a lot of cases. It's a mid system at best. So why make the drops you need to use the system so rare? It makes zero sense to have a system, then gate the system behind RNG while bragging about having 4,000 different combinations....that you can't use or experiment with because the item you need to do that is rare for a lame/mid system. ZoS logic at it's "finest". The ONLY reason to do this is to extend the life of content, that's frankly pretty light this chapter.
Scribing is powerful in PvP. With ranged AOE knockbacks you cc and kill players beneath you and make it very hard for them to set up siege. With Ulfsild's Contingency you can give yourself an emergency burst heal whenever your health is below 50% even when you are knocked down on cc'ed. So in general, a PvPer with access to scribing can gain unique advantages over players who don't have Gold Road expansion.
before scribing, I didn't have a cool skill where I could throw my shield captain america style, or launch my mount at enemies. now I have both. It's made the game better, so quit bellyaching
The majority of their dedicated playerbase quit in high isle so they're trying to milk the time of the few who still play this regularly enough who would grind this shit.
The scribing system is a mess. Players should be allowed to craft any skill for free and test them at will! Then, they should need luminous ink to make the skill stronger. We paid for one system, but now we can't use it freely because without luminous ink, there are no skills. But the item shop is working, so it's all good. lol

Ink treasure maps should have ink drops increase and included. It will give them purpose PvP zone? Increase drop Veteran trial? Increase drop? Digging leads? Ink chance Tribute pvp? Ink chance
The biggest problem with scribing is not the ink in my honest oppinion. It is a problem, don't get me wrong, but the main problem is, that they were to cautious. I think they should make it so, that every skill in the game is editable. Get a grimoire for every skill and let the players decide what to do with them. There will be a meta at some point, sure, but it would be fun to see what the players would do with their skills and would even make the classes more interesting as you could play around with class mechnics. The ink is just a time problem. If you don't mind it and just play normally, your ink will accumulate.
I have got to call bullshit, I’ve been playing for a couple hours a day since release harvesting nodes along the way and have achieved the achievement that requires you to acquire 50 Ink, granted about 10 came from the quest line but that leaves at least 40 outstanding and I have gotten opInk drops since then.
@@jordanparis964 It is not BS. I have had a very low drop rate as well, killing mobs and general farming and only have 1 ink to show for the hours put in above the ones received in the quest itself.
I think a you should be able to purchase the material from an ic vendor along with all of the other rare materials. Like perfect roe, temper alloy and such.
Does anyone get butt hurt that nirncrux doesn't drop from < insert example > ? Honestly if ZOS panders to whiny people then it's only going to hurt the game and make it uninteresting
I think the difference here is scribing was a huge part of the gold road marketing, only for players to come in and spend hours farming for ink to find nothing, meaning content they may have specifically purchased the chapter for isn’t playable. And they have come out and said that ink wasn’t supposed to be a grind. That said, that’s just me trying to see their perspective. I have no issue with ink being *somewhat* rare. Personally I haven’t seen ink drop for almost three days and i’ve played quite a bit this week… End of the day, it is what it is.
@jayr_xx honestly , since I don't tank , heal or pvp , the ink has been the best part for me. Even that is going to end soon. First batch I sold for 150k ea, next batch 100k , this batch I'll be lucky to get 75k. Seems like there is a lot of skill but it will reduce to a few bis and then ink will be hard to sell except around updates I imagine
Personally i think the drop rate is fine. It probably will take less than a year before no one is caring for extra ink. You actually dont need much ink to begin with. Prices on the eu-server are around 35k atm but slowly dropping. I am a slow player and I have like 30 ink without farming for them.
So I've been playing several hours per day since Gold Road launched. I harvest fanatically. I actually love it. It's mindless, it's relaxing, it's fun for me, and I always have Plentiful Harvest slotted. At this point I have maybe 20-some inks total? That includes the few free ones you get during the Scribing questline. I have not used any and I did not buy any. Almost all of my inks have come from harvest nodes. I have gotten a grand total of TWO inks off of enemies. They 100% need to buff the drop rate, even a little. And getting inks from other sources is a great idea as well.
The rng of these ink drops and running around grabbing new scripts can be a real heck to deal with, but the amount of avalible skills/spells you have afterwards to spice up your build is worth it imo.
Tho ZOS has started to demonstrate they're listening for example by adding some unique achievement rewards, they still fall far behind games like guild wars 2 in their understanding on how to reward players to incentivize them to keep playing.
If the bar is set to high for being able to get inks during normal game play, I won't be using that scribing feature, 1 because the spells don't provide any great advantage over the ones I currently use, and 2 because I would prefer being able to modify spells I already use rather than adding to the collections of spells I don't use, because you can only have so many spells/skills on your bar at a time, so even if you have the choice of 1000, you can only slot 10 of them. It doesn't make sense that you would find luminous ink in a lumber node, or a mineral node. Where in the real world do inks come from? You don't find fish laying around on a baren mountain tops, and you don't find fish for birds, as absurd examples. I typically don't buy stuff I can get on my own through normal game play partly because the stuff that is worthy of being bought is exceedingly high in price. Not going to fuel such greed.
Been farming since the beginning and I have 13…. Just to complete achievements I need 521. The loot rate is not acceptable especially when this is the flagship product meant to bring in more players and retain the current players. One bottle of ink is going (on ps/na) anywhere from 38k-80k per bottle. I saw one idiot selling 14 for 1mil.
No one organically wanders around overland casually swiping at rocks or lizards. It feels like a punishment meted out for abandoning those zones. So I'm doing what I do with RL cash -know before I buy. Streamers can spend their ink for views. Of course, Zos has already cost me ink with healer nerfs. But generally, research solves the ink issue.
Within 6-7 hours i could drop 40 luminous inks so far. But ngl the best way to grind luminous inks is harvest nodes in Craglorn. A lot of income from nirncrux and other crafting mats.
I dont understand why ZOS would implement such a big system and market it as the main addition in this new chapter just to make it incredibly inaccessible with bad RNG and not making it account wide like they did with the antiquity system. I also feel bad for new players because its not explained well how to even collect the materials, and scripts needed to interact with the system.
It is unfortunate that they went live with the boss drops being bugged. Aoe grinding spots are already clogged with leveling players and farmers, which had me hoping that the Archive would have been a good option to get inks and made sense lore wise. Personally I have had no issues finding ink. Maybe I am just RNG blessed, but I wouldn't think it would be too much of an issue if they tweak the drop slightly. I don't want another worthless material clogging up my inventory though.
Years ago i developed the habit of just harvesting nodes while waiting for others, queuing, or simply kill time before an upcoming raid. Just the other day i had a bit of small talk with a guild mate in discord, picking up nodes and without noticing it i got 6 ink. I think after the initial phase we all will have plenty of ink in reserve all the time.
You get duplicates per type. If you're doing certain dailies like IC, they you'll only get affix scripts even if you have unlearned signature and focus

I do lots of questing and gather along the way since I'm about 3 months into eso , I've made 5 mil selling my ink since I'm not to interested in it . Nice to be a little well off . It won't last though , things will get set and that'll be that

No. Most players don't want it quick and easy. Sure, there's always a few that do. Most want CONSISTENCY. Tying a new chapter feature to RNG is beyond a stupid mistake, and will only lead more people to get burned out and quit. All for a weak to mid system in the first place.
