This is amazing, with all these sounds background, voices..I never experienced something without image but so powerful and cause my brain to imagine images inside of my mine...watched too much visuals...
Omg, this is good, lol. It's like 'movieniezed'. Gives a form to otherwise 'mute' words, in regards to the book, one reads in an otherwise monotone fashion.
This was written in early 1980s. Technology/ideas has progressed significantly since then. Back then somebody at least wrote something that makes sense.. (remote methods/control of CNS now and much more) Tomas Ukkonen
Finished the book last night and it was just great. This BB radio play is a fantastic compressed version btw. It is a masterpiece of a deal if you think about it: they managed to do the book in about two hours. But the bad thing about it is the fact they had to skip like 2/3 of each chapter. Well, I suggest you'd better read the book first, just in case you dig cyberpunk. :)
This has been heavily cut. Misses whole chase scenes. How he met Molly, all in 5 mins. Like it, just too short. WAY too short. I'll keep re-reading the book.
Thanks for uploading this! Do you know if we can get a hold of a high quality version of Gibson's reading? I know there's a low quality version online...
The guy on narration/Case sounds like he's reading this for the first time. Not that he's bad exactly, but his intonation carries no indication of inner process or foreshadowing. Like each thing he's reading is the most important thing on the page at that moment. I do the same thing when I'm reading something out loud that I'm unfamiliar with. For example: "...The color of television! ...Tuned to a dead channel," makes it sound like two thoughts, instead of a single visual description.
Here to enjoy the beautiful language before AppleTV+ dumbs everything down for "general audiences," and ruins the characters. Also, now Molly is an old partner of Case, and they've known each other since they were kids, and she's just better at everything. Just because. (...and yes, I know that Molly is already quite capable on her own, but... I think you all know what I mean. We all most likely agree that there's not a lot that needs to be changed in this story for "modern audiences," but they'll do something anyway, and for a lame reason.)
Is there a torrent anywhere of the full abridged or unabridged audiobook of neuromancer anywhere? I've looked for the damn thing everywhere and the only version is the one read by William Gibson (the author himself), I don't really mind it that much but it's gets a bit boring when he's literally JUST reading it out loud in a pretty monotone fashion. I do prefer it when an audiobook is made in this radio format (like here) or done by an actor who tries more (Roy Dotrice ftw!)
Anyone listen to the other one on youtube at all? seems like this has a little less content. definitely better voiced though... well obviously ... the other one has a single narrator.
You're wrong. Japan has been considered to be a technologically more advanced country compared to any other country since the 1980s to today. They're the ones who are most ahead in android technology and robots too today. Japan is always included in some way or form in cyberpunk-literature or media. If not noodles or geishas; you can at least be 100% sure there's a few japanese letters in a flashing neon-billboard somewhere.
it's fucking amazing on lsd!! add to this blue dragon egg fried rice straigh form microvawe to feel plasticish food of future and you are set. fuck my mind is rolling everywhere trapped in the looop
Hey, I thought the guy was an idiot as well, I was just pointing out that it does infact start in Japan. You should have told him that reading the first two chapters of the book doesn't count as reading it or something.
Well the vid was not suitable for me mainly because I don't spend as much time on youtube. I don't have internet connection at work and I do like listening to audio books from my phone.
Why do producers think its OK to have actors do a fake American accent in this day and age? lol BBC. Also cutting out huge chunks of the plot is not cool either. :(
7 years old, but... Why shouldn't British people doing American voices? Just because they aren't always great at it? Lol. (Though as an American watching House, I'd never have guessed Hugh Laurie was English in a million years) Edit: Some of the voice actors in this do have pretty silly sounding southern accents, ha.
Really great timing honestly
Holly shit , this voice acting is so good, better than most AAA movies; Some cool animation along with this would be a killer
I like it! I read all of Gibson's books. I even met him in DC and got a signed copy of Idoru.
Did anyone listened till the end and feels like huge chunks of the story are missing?
this is the radio version, not the full version.
This is amazing, with all these sounds background, voices..I never experienced something without image but so powerful and cause my brain to imagine images inside of my mine...watched too much visuals...
is this the best audiobook ever made?
Oh man this is great I love William Gibson, Molly is the best action hero!
Omg, this is good, lol. It's like 'movieniezed'. Gives a form to otherwise 'mute' words, in regards to the book, one reads in an otherwise monotone fashion.
This is the next best thing to your imagination...very impressed 😮 ty 😊
Ratz has the best voice acting ever.
Molly sounds exactly like Angelina Jolie in Hackers. I thought it was her till I saw here it wasn't. Damn I just watched Hackers a few days ago. lol
oh my gerd. Just found it. It's brilliant, thank you.
Either Zoidberg or the Jarl of Witerun is voicing Ratz, can't tell which.
Pretty good for a super abridged version.
Remarkable writer of dialogue, William Gibson.
Alan Falleur I'd love to see this one film. Maybe Jake Gyllenhal as Case. Who as Molly, tho.....
NorthForkFisherman Rooney Mara
Alan Falleur Excellent choice. She's go that lean figure to go with the acting chops.
+Alan Falleur But most of this isnt from the book
***** The good stuff is.
This is so much better than audible's audiobook
what the fuck I WISH I FOUND THIS WHEN I FIRST READ THE BOOK!!! LOOL OMFFG
It’s feels like I’m watching this as a movie…in my head
Wow, I've read Neuromancer and this is amazing!
This story is slightly different from from the original novel. This is good, but is a contemporary adaptation of Neuromancer
This was written in early 1980s. Technology/ideas has progressed significantly since then. Back then somebody at least wrote something that makes sense.. (remote methods/control of CNS now and much more) Tomas Ukkonen
this is RAD!

Half the story is missing?! The entire story about the drug addict and her betrayal in the very first 10min of this thing? Cut.
cool I feel like im 15 again watching teletoon at 2am in the morning :D
Hmm, I thought Armitage's would be less expressive, considering his psychological profile. Anyway, good video, I like.
This version cuts out a lot of background action and characters.
@iannerd97 yes this abridged drama radio version
Kinda upset that they got rid of Linda Lee and Juile Dean, but other than that, this Audio Drama is excellent
Ok so i wasn't fkn tripping? This is completely different.
Probably. "Otherland" by Ted Williams is also v e r y nice
This has been heavily cut. Misses whole chase scenes. How he met Molly, all in 5 mins. Like it, just too short. WAY too short. I'll keep re-reading the book.
@12crows Molly's voice is done by Nicola Walker , the actress seen in Spooks
Thanks for uploading this! Do you know if we can get a hold of a high quality version of Gibson's reading? I know there's a low quality version online...
Pray for me brothers! Like that works...
Hellooooo Molly Millions! :D
Love that Asian style rockabilly music going on in the background

There is something called top 100 sci-fi audiobooks
is this the bbc radio version. some of the accents do seem to be put on like a british idea of the american accent.
It's only few dialogues from book, nothing else. It's like 1/100 of the book.
I've read the book, it starts in Japan
Any idea where I might buy a copy of this audio drama.
@Jaaxchan There is more depth to describing what is going on and even technical layouts
@jorgepeterbarton Yeah the radio four version ,
sweet.
some differences but too soon to tell if the story is affected.
It seems he didn't read it in the first place. Just let him run into his own sword. :)
Where's the video ?
what about linda lee and all the other stuff?
Please!!! Can anyone tell me the name of the song on 00:25 and heard in the bar on few occasions. Thanks
Shoukichi Kina - Jing Jing
They just skipped the first Linda Lee encounter entirely? :(
its better than the version read by Gibson!
Spaghettimancer. I am lord of noodles.
and dean julie... screw this I'm going back to the proper audio book.
is this an accurate account of the book? I tried the audiobook on audible but the narrator is soooo freaking dry he can make anything sound dull!
I have heard 3 different voices reading this book... I dont even know which is the real read by william
good effort, but man, somethin doesn't feel write to me

Case's accent is wrong, but it's not bad.

@FlyingAxblade Huh?
One of the few sex scenes I've ever read that wasn't completely disgusting.
it's fucking amazing on lsd!! add to this blue dragon egg fried rice straigh form microvawe to feel plasticish food of future and you are set. fuck my mind is rolling everywhere trapped in the looop
_"Body Image Fading down corridors of Television Sky"_
For the most part this sucks, but Molly is fantastic!
Strange, I really love the whole of it, but I also agree that Molly is the highlight ;)
Honestly I found the sex scene to be completely ridiculous and out of the blue, and all the descriptions about his orgasm was just.. uuuggh.
