Hi Michael, Another fascinating video! I often recall travelling along the old A3; indeed there were once coach trips from Timpsons at Catford we went on for the scenic views of the Devil's Punch Bowl. Coaches, including those on the NX London - Portsmouth run often stopped at Hindhead for a tea break at a large roadhouse - which I suspect is where the visitors centre is: it was quite close to the Hindhead outstaion garage, once Aldershot & District.

Yes, the bit of road that you are unsure about is the old A3. Though I never drove along it, I was fortunate enough to ride along it on a double deck bus on a rail replacement service shortly before the tunnel opened. And on the weekend after the tunnel fully opened, I was driving in the area and attempted to see how far I could drive along the old road from the south (Hindhead), and they'd already shut the road beyond what is now the car park/visitor centre that you showed.

Thank you for that information Nik. That must have been brilliant on a double deck bus with those views!
