I just did a full mechanical restoration on my 2001 Astro AWD van. It was my original work van my dad bought for me when I started my company. I'm turning into a camper style van. I just did a small 3-inch lift with some all-terrain tires and bought a winch bumper from Journeys off road. Didn't realize I needed a winch too lol. Thanks for this video! I bought this winch. I look forward to helping people stuck in the dunes when I'm traveling to Cabo. I'm building this van to leave at my condo in Cabo San Lucas so I have a vehicle I can go surf and camp in the dunes. Cheers!
Question about the clutch lever. I was confused as to why it doesn’t have a notch or spot where it stays on the free spool position. I get that having it always engaged means easy use when you need it, as you said just turn on your remote and it’s ready. Most people say don’t leave the winch engaged (keep it on free spool) when not in use. Is there a reason why people say that? Is it ok that our Open Road winch are essentially always engaged?
That's a good question. Personally I have always had my clutch lever in the engaged position to retain the tension on the hook, and never had any issues with any winch. Not sure why superwinch as this clutch design vs a lockable position though.
@@NorthBoundExpeditions I just ordered a set of aftermarket front and rear bumpers for my 04 Tundra. The Smittybilt was the cheapest winch option they had.
Dude, why do you have such a long review. You lost me. I was trying to get information on the winch, not sitting there, listening to repetitive music and watching you winch vehicles out. Your title is misleading, and I never made it to the point where you actually reviewed the goddamn winch.

@@paulandrews171 you know you can fast forward if the 45 seconds of showing the winch and its features in action is not of interest to you!
