I would’ve settled for either one of them, if I’d had the opportunity!! But, I was about 10 when I remember them coming out with “Wake up little Susie” that I loved....so they were just a few yrs older than me!! Lol 😆 I now wished that I’d followed their career & had gone to see them live!! I did see Elvis in 1972!! 🥰❤️🤗
Such a sad day to learn of Don Everly’s passing. Lucky to have seen them twice. Amazing harmonies and great body of work. Vale Don and Phil Everly - giants.
Don outlived his younger brother. I wish we had him back and they were together. Both penned some very good songs. But the lucky stroke of their lives was meeting up with Felice & Boudleaux Bryant, who wrote most of their prominent hits. When the Everlys parted company with the Bryants, the problems started.
Phil would probably still be here if he wasn't a smoker since he died from smoking related causes. But most people smoked in the 50's and 60's and most of us do have bad habits.
@@kathrynkathryn4836 I think that is partially correct. Yesterday I read a fiew interviews with Phil´s wife and Don. Don said that he and Phil both stopped smoking in the late 60´s but as you already said Phil started again during their breakup, that would be 1973. When Phil met his last wife Patti in 1994, he was still smoking, but had no problems, his wife said that he was taking nothing but vitamines. Patti nagged him to stop for 7 years and he eventually did in 2001. A fiew years later, around 2004, problems started to occur with his breathing, it wasn´t catastrophic yet, but Phil started worrying if he had enough air during the last performances of the Everly Brothers in 2004 and 2005. But it got worse quickly, and in 2011, he was diagnosed with COPD. Patti said that went from a light form to a heavy form very fast and medium was basically skipped. Three years later, he died... Don said that it was more or less a genetic thing, weak lungs had a history in the family, their father died from balck lung disease. Maybe if Phil would have stopped 10 years earlier, he might have been ok I think.
The brothers started having problems with their Management people & they left Acuff-Rose, who had the Bryants under contract. Then they could no longer get songs written by them, so they had to go elsewhere or write their own material, which they did some!!! We miss u Phil - RIP ❤️
always charming and friendly ! great interview!
Phil and Don were (and still are) LEGENDS!!!!
I think Don and Phil are sweethearts. I just love them both. God gave them talent.
Nobody could sing as well together as the Everly Brothers. In addition, they had many, many hits with great songs.
Very special😘👍😍
They had some great hits.
Rest in Peace Brothers. 😢

To all of Don's wives...you robbed me! What a very lovely man.

You have to be old enough to appreciate what Don is saying...as I am. Rock may be universally accepted today, but it wasn't in the 50's and 60's.

I’ve always had a crush on Don. I almost married a man that looked like him. They had the best harmony. So in sync. So connected.
RIP, Phil. ❤️
