This is a great video and very informative. One caveat is whatever mode the vehicle broke in is how the actuator needs to be installed. His CanAm broke is 4 wheel so the actuator needs to be forward. Mine broke in 2 wheel and the actuator arm needed to be to the rear

glad to have found your video. Apparently you are not the only one to miss the pin. Tomorrow is another day, and R+R will be a lot quicker

Consider yourself lucky. Our HD8(basically same drivetrain) needed a new main shaft in the trans. We have nearly 600hrs on unit. Unsure of millage. Anyways, ive got the new shaft in, trans back in, BUT ive now tried getting this actuator set right 8 F!#$in times with no luck. Had to take a break.
So far though we've had to replace front differential, and this main shaft in 600hrs. Now, it is a rental at the resort i mechanic for, but still i was expecting better durability from CanAm. It is still immeasurably better than all John Deeres SxS, but it still isnt as easy to maintain as our Kawasaki Mules. Anyways, thanks for the video. At least im not the only one with these actuator issues

Agreed that it's a better ride than the JDs but damn is this thing a fragile egg haha. I feel like I'm constantly working on something with it and it's a ranch UTV so no off roading at all. Hardly even sees 6000 rpm and yet it still manages to end up on the repair side of my shop once a month. It's paid off next year and I'll prob dump it for an upgrade. Don't know about another Can Am. Any thoughts on a good ranch UTV? Also, had to laugh when I read your tale of the actuator install. Not sure if I mentioned in the video or not but I had to pull that bastard back out and reinstall because it still wouldn't engage after my first try. 🤬

U can also move the pin inside the engine to 4 wheel or 2 wheel drive

When you took actuator off was the part inside loose ? Where it can slide back and forth too easy ?

Mine was set to 2 wheel drive when I took it out and was like spring loaded when I tried to turn it

We have a 2021 Defender HD10 Max and it’s making a BAD noise sounds like front sometimes and rear sometimes but if the wheels are turning, it is making that sound well my husband checked it out and it looked like the front driveshaft is just spinning freely in the front DEF so we went and bought a new front prop shaft and it did not fix the problem at all. It just will not engage in four-wheel-drive and it sounds like a box of rocks clanking so loud.. any ideas???

Have you checked the diff oil on front and rear? Also when you try to engage into 4wd does the 4wd indicator light illumibate on the dash screen?

I'm not sure which part you mean.. the engage piece or the actual box? Maybe send me a picture
