  • While most gear mechanisms are decades and even centuries old, the Eccentrically Cycloidal gear drive is so new the ink is still not dry on its patents. This video is published with the explicit permission of the patent holder.
This futuristically-looking mechanism is very efficient and extremely compact. The gear pair shown here has the gear ratio of 1:9, an almost impossible feat for a traditional involute gear pair.

Some say Blender isn't good at CAD modelling.
    This video proves otherwise.

Designing isn't the problem, manufacturing is. Make a gear hob for it and it'll be everywhere in 3 years.

"This video is published with the explicit permission of the patent holder."
Why did you need their permission? Also, what motivates O.T. Vinta's AMAZING work when creating your website and all these very beautiful videos?

    the circumference of the small pin is pi*d = 3.14*20 = 62.8
the length of the big gear is approx. 304.04
    it's a 9:1 ratio, 62.8 * 9 = 565.2 > 304.04
    that means there's sliding friction?

There is no slippage. The pinion is eccentric, and therefore the ratio of reference lengths may not equal the gear ratio.
