This is a good "modern" view of steel making and the state of the industry. I have gravitated toward the older industry as it matches the time line of the model railroad that I am working on. Fun stuff. Birmingham Rails
I see that this company makes steel for commercial building projects. Did they happen to be supplying the majority of US market during the 60's and 70's ?
hell the Americans make me laugh, shame the industry in Sheffield is dead :( ...... we had a great manufacturing for steel here using "Bessemer converters" etc........99% of this industry has now gone for ever...... time to buy some cheep Chinese import steel with crap quality i guess
@darthvader5300 im sure this multi billion dollar company needs your help on how to make their industry produce the highest quality for the least cost...
Modern mass produced "steel" compared to that produced 50 years ago is terrible quality, it is so bad due to the high percentage of scrap introduced before the iron is converted.Impurities from the scrap are not removed;the more its recycled the worse it becomes.Modern mass produced steel machines poorly and corrodes many times faster. In the past even the lowest grade steels exceeded modern standards for mass produced steel.Mass production = low quality, quality steel costs many times more now.
Would be nice if the commentary were louder than the "background" music. I can barely hear a word he says.
What I want to know is what are the vessels that handle the molten steel made out of ?
need to finish assignment about this for tomorrow and still I got nothing... lol.
1st lesson, never pour molten metal on water or any moisture, it causes a very big kaboom.
You can pour water on steel but never steel on water !!
Great video. Is new steel ever manufactured without the use of old recycled steel? AKA virgin steel. Does anyone know? Thanks.
Awesome! My brain loves learning. Need more knowledge...
thanks this video helped me a lot in me engineering homework cheers mate :)

If you add the right amount of coal into iron you get steel. Cobalt is another kind of metall.

I do not know. I am not an expert in this matter. One idea is back into Factory Water.

genius human
good help for science projects!
im doing a project on steel, does anyone know where most crude iron ores that are made into steel are mined?
hell the Americans make me laugh, shame the industry in Sheffield is dead :( ...... we had a great manufacturing for steel here using "Bessemer converters" etc........99% of this industry has now gone for ever...... time to buy some cheep Chinese import steel with crap quality i guess
@prankcallerpl0x ko x kan paham bahase ni.mix malay language with tamil
I still don't get it
Is steel just made from iron or from cobalt too
jij ook al?
@JFguitar22 i'm not pulpit operator.i'm electrical supervisor.
@tnguyen318 and where did you have in mind?
Great video! Very informative.

We want to eliminate any type of pollution that could come from factories. Waters used should return elsewhere not back into our drinking water.
