This guy is the TRUE definition of a prodigy.. He not only had a gift at a young age, but cultivated his gift with the knowledge and expertise that it requires to continue to be great. I didn't really know this guy was a true musician and jazz virtuoso until I bought his album about a week ago.
All of y’all are trippin. He says it in the video himself. Dedication. Listening. Being started at the age of 2-3. Most importantly, being in the right place at the right time. Talent means nothing without dedication
O my goodness - seeing this little kid when he started out lol - and how you followed your dream not letting be held back - I'm amazed...I saw myself and wondered how things would have been for me today. So happy for your achievements, Master Cory Henry. Would like to meet you, but...oh well. Thanks for sharing your gift. Be blessed, my brother.
What Corey was saying towards the end is true. I've been playing church music on the drums so long, that I was stuck on "level 1" for the as long as I can remember. But now I'm determined to break free of that level and take it to the next level for Gods glory.
omg this intro explains so much to me he had the gift and still channels the same expressions now as he did as a toddler this is scary amazing ...... you brought me outta the harder metal into jazz and funk and i could never tell you how much just the change in genre has lifted my oputlook and now i just cheese hard when playing and its more in the moment thanks dude
i knew it...... the first time i heard you play Cory, i could feel you are blessed by God, you have a gift, we need to make music with a message for this lost world. you know what the message is, it is in your heart. just like it is in mine. scripture says we are one in the Spirit, this is how i know it. bless you.
@Noel Carvajal Cory Henry is a fucking trail blazer. Absolutely one of the best, if not the best keys player in the world. This dude's grasp of harmony is miles beyond anyone else's on the planet.
Cory Henry is absolutely one of the greatest musicians of our time point blank, not many have the natural grasp of the relationship btwn harmony and melody that he does. He could literally play an organ before he could count to 4. Playing organ is quite literally his second language
So, Cory Henry is genius after all: Not simply down to hard toiling and work-around-the-clock ethics, though he may too possess. THIS FOOTAGE IS GREATLY VINDICATING OF MUSICAL PRODIGIOUS TALENT & OF A MUSICIAN CLEARLY DESTINED FOR A LIFELONG CAREER IN THE ARTS - Long Live Divine Beings!!!
I wish God would have blessed me with this gift.. I love live music and the feel of playing a live instrument gives you...I just cannot play. Oh well bless all of those people that God gave this gift #salute
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! DUDE YOU WERE PLAYING BETTER AT 4 THAN MOST CATS WHEN THEY ARE 21 AND UP!!!! LOL!!! I'VE BEEN FOLLOWING YOU FOR YEARS... IT'S AMAZING TO SEE HOW FAR YOU'VE COME OVER THE YEARS BRO..... GOD BLESS YOU IN ALL THAT YOU DO....
glories to God , you have been an influence on listening more hymns harp, and still die of miss my mother , because she always sings in the kitchen of her house . God bless you .
Ha mighty man of God. May God continue to bless you in all that your hand touch. but good to see the work that our parents and grand parents have done is not in vain stay in the will of God. be blessed .
How music should be played ... I hear a lot of people when he plays that organ, but its ALL CH ... the guy oozes feel and groove. It's inspirational just to see how uninhibited, and still innocent, he is when he plays, always the same level, nothing less ... An exceptional talent ... we need more cats like him!
I like what he said about listening to all types of music. That is how i developed my ear for music and of course with a lot of practice. Oscar Peterson was one of the first jazz pianist I heard growing up that I loved. He had all of those big chords I heard in my head.
AWESOME!!! We serve an AWESOME God and this young man is awesomly blessed!!! Good luck to you, my friend. A shout-out to your Family and Church Family! Amen. Also, know that "Master" used to be used to address a young man formally. Like Mister and Mrs. We sometimes still use Master to address a young man. However...YOU are a Master Beast on the Ivorys!!! Amen!
I'm very motivated by your journey and music..me being a musician I push myself to be the best me I can be just by listening to you thank God for you..Juan Wilkins from Shreveport la.by way of Dallas tx
I am happy to know you from RUclips. As a fellow recording keyboardist, I had some questions as to your musical roots and your inspiring documentary answered them. All the best, Cory!
damn dude... maybe I'll never attain that level, but I'll still certainly borrow some of your knowledge! thank you sir and I will Continue to feed your giant steps view count
Dada levrai Yeah I totally agree on this. These guys are great musicians but most of all, they are good people who put their heart in it and who love to share with others.
Sure, I think the technic is certainly impressive but not the most important point for music. As u said "they are good people who put their heart in it and who love to share", it's appliable to all kinds of art, and that's great!
i love how even at his young age....he could stop playing, check his foot position, then jump back right into the song like he never left!!! LONG LIVE COREY!!! BAKERSFIELD, CA rocks wit you!!!
Bro.. If I didn't know that was Corey Henry (from listening to his craft) as a child, I would've swore up and down that somebody photoshopped a kid's body playing those chords at 4 :) WOW ! Amazing...
I see the same expressive face on that little boy as Mr. Henry today. So glad I stumbled onto Cory Henry's inspired head/body music. And the Funk Apostles are all up to Cory's musical exceptionalism.
I was just looking through RUclips and you caught my eyes. God bless you with a wonderful gift🙏🏾. Keep doing what you do. Be bless Corey, love how you play the organ and such a great voice💕. God had a plan for you all the time. So sorry for the loss of your mom and dad, but I know they would be so proud of what a young man you become.🙏🏾💕💕
My favourite way to watch this clip is to watch the beginning, then skip to 5:34 when someone asks four-year-old Cory what he wants to do when he grows up.
Pretty unreal. You can tell he has the body coordination of a 4 year old, but somehow those little hands on the keyboard know exactly what they're doing.
Amen for the same level thing said at the end but its hard for musician to reach higher levels. I'm self-taught I've been looking for years for someone to teach me the next level
"Show me the child of seven, and I'll show you the man," said the Jesuits. The boy Cory had the same mannerisms and deep intelligence of the adult Cory. A very modest and gifted musician.
Even at 4 years old, never looks down at the keys once.
This guy is the TRUE definition of a prodigy.. He not only had a gift at a young age, but cultivated his gift with the knowledge and expertise that it requires to continue to be great. I didn't really know this guy was a true musician and jazz virtuoso until I bought his album about a week ago.
Cory could kill an organ before he could un-hesitantly count to 4
+Ty Harris Haha, Cory learning the organ before he learned to count. We have proof. It's on tape! haha. He came out the womb playing triads.
exactely! just wow! amazing
Makes you think, some of us were made to count… some of us… well… Cory. Wow.
AMAZING!!!
I legit just said this lol
I’ve played drums with Cory and that same look he gave the drummer at 5….he’s been giving since! I love Cory!
Cory Henry = the Michael Jordan of the keyboard!
I believe if Cory throws his shoe at the organ keyboard it would hit the right notes.
Curtis 64 you are right he really plays very well.... But my question is who is the Dennis Rodman of Keyboard if theres a Michael Jordan? 😂
Maybe Jayden Arnold.
Damn that comment had me rolling! LOL!
The micheal jordan was Cornell Thigpen on that Hammond. Corey might be the Lebron.
You could say he'd have put his foot in it 😏
It's amazing seeing how that style was implemented in his mind so young and how it stuck with him all these years. The human mind is just so amazing.
Well, he grew up in the church where his mother was also a musician.
His ear for music is unmatched so far. A truly blessed child..
He memorized how to play first before even counting. Daaaammmmnnnn!
He is talented beyond reason. Not a level that can be acquired within one lifetime.
Absolutely we keep coming back until we get it right,no one reach mastery levels in one life time
right
you have to be born this way you can't just get that good
All of y’all are trippin. He says it in the video himself. Dedication. Listening. Being started at the age of 2-3. Most importantly, being in the right place at the right time. Talent means nothing without dedication
That moment when your 40 and you realise Corey was better than you when he was four........
That awkward moment when four year old Cory Henry has a better grasp of chord harmony than twenty seven year old you.
🤣🤣🤣
swears😪😂
This was even funnier reading it at age 27. ......and I make music.
I’m 16
I'm telling you 😂
O my goodness - seeing this little kid when he started out lol - and how you followed your dream not letting be held back - I'm amazed...I saw myself and wondered how things would have been for me today. This is just a wonderful example of the music flowing through a person and how it positively impacts the world.
Cory Henry, you are truly ANOINTED! Continue to bless Sir🙏🙏🙏
cbbc
The whole NOT looking at the keys once, is just... I have no words. #genius
My favorite part of the video - camera man: what do you wanna do when you get big? 4 year old Corey: "I'mma eat my food" lol!! :)
I don't understand how anyone could dislike this story, the devil will never be blessed!
😅🤣
This lil boy makes me smile man! He's a man now and I still smile.
Damm, he wasn't even looking at the keyboard most of time in the footage...insanely talented pianist/musician.
Great Documentary! As Cory stated, musicians don't limit yourself to one style of music.
God is too big for that!
Yes sir, Amen to that!
Amen and amen
Well said!
Give all glory unto God.
What Corey was saying towards the end is true. I've been playing church music on the drums so long, that I was stuck on "level 1" for the as long as I can remember. But now I'm determined to break free of that level and take it to the next level for Gods glory.
When you play piano before you learn to count to 4... There's something incredible about ppl like that💜
omg this intro explains so much to me he had the gift and still channels the same expressions now as he did as a toddler this is scary amazing ...... you brought me outta the harder metal into jazz and funk and i could never tell you how much just the change in genre has lifted my oputlook and now i just cheese hard when playing and its more in the moment thanks dude

1:04-1:13 what a progression ! that C#major - B aug/C# change is AMAZING
Man!!!!! He just makes me LOVE music so much!!!!! What a gift Cory Henry is!!!!
Seeing the way you played at 3 & 4 yrs old is enough proof that there is a God who gives gifts. Thank you.
This is eerie and yet so wonderful at the same time - Little Cory playing suspended fourths and everything! Praise the Lord!!!
Today is my Cory Henry day. Listening all day long. I'm loving it! Awesome minister of all music.
Just saw him play with The Apostles. An evening of Joy and Groove. Thank you Cory!
Let’s not pretend that at 0:29 young Master Henry didn’t give the drummer the look 🤭
Lol
He definitely did 😹😹😹😹he just ain’t know how to cuss yet
I'm from Goldsboro, NC and watch all your videos over and over again. God has blessed you with a great gift
Corey Henry = the Chuck Norris of keyboard/piano and organ.
that place is for Jesus Molina (?
who is Norris?
Cory ist the Bruce Lee of Keyboard, Piano and Organ!
Baby Cory Henry has to be the cutest thing I've ever seen
I remember these days. I just stood in absolute Amazement watching you!
I'm so upset I'm just finding out about you, you are ahmazing man,God bless!
Damn son!!! Now it really makes sense. This is priceless footage.
now possibley one of the greatest musicians in the world
@Noel Carvajal Nah, he's just telling the truth.

That part though!! lol priceless video.Glad whoever recorded it thought to save it.
If you haven't seen Cory play with Snarky Puppy... do.
Bye! Before Snarky there was the COGIC.
So ignorant to do thumbs down....what were you doing at his age...smh
They probably weren't doing this.
They wanted to download the video
Nothing like a Mother who love her children. It's young folks like this young man is the result.
Perfect documentary only 8 min but blows my mind and makes me happy. Cory you are an incurable person going down in the history books
Wow, that is unreal. Now that is really a gift from God. ❤🙏
Wow this is amazing . Cory was destined for greatness from an early age.
Ha mighty man of God. May God continue to bless you in all that your hand touch. but good to see the work that our parents and grand parents have done is not in vain stay in the will of God. be blessed .

It felt so satisfying when the music came in at 2:07 😄
I love that he plays the Rhodes and Moogs.

Where can I find his music? Like the song that starts at 2:07 - it's amazing!
It's called, "Seven." Off his 2012 record. Had to run and find it myself :p, SO GOOD!
He never even looks at the organ when he plays, insane
Neither does Stevie Wonder 😃
He's not even looking at the keyboard. It's part of his anatomy!!
