The last time that I done this route as a fireman was in 1963 on a black 5 with local passenger. Sad to see a car park where shed 1E used to be at Bletchley (my shed) but surprised to see that the concrete fly-over is still there. I can remember the giant pile driver/hammer running through the night as they built it.
And I miss my fresh crusty buttered ham roll and large mug of tea in the 'Coffee Nob' outside platform 1 entrance...good days. Shed manager was Mr Todd, and my driver Tom Wright, god bless em both!

My step Grandad was a fireman who operated out of Monument Lane , outside New St. He would have done this run too, as well a s via Weedon on WCML proper. He was in a train which unfortunately killed a porter in the middle of the night at Wolverton in the early 60s.

I'm new to cab rides of any sort, and only found them on RUclips by accident, and now I'm hooked. Although cab rides will remain a favourite, I'm latching onto anything UK railways. I suppose you've been asked hundreds of times, but for us newbies along for the ride would you consider adding station names, or junction names and things like that. I know where I'm starting, and where I'm ending, but I haven't the foggiest about the places between. That said I'm thouroughly enjoying the journeying with you..
    Many thanks.

Chiltern railways run them, usually between London Marylebone and Birmingham Moor Street, with some extended to Stourbridge Junction or Kidderminster at Peak Times, at the moment (13/10/2014) they consist of a Class 67, 6 Mark 3's and a Mark 3 DVT, in December (not sure exactly when) the 67's will be replaced by Class 68's from DRS.

I have a question, and forgive me if it's a dumb one. Near the middle of the video I saw a signal indicating you were going to switch tracks to the right. Which you did. But then you went over an additional track (let's call it 3, with 1 on the left and 4 on the right). I get that British trains drive on the left, just like your cars. Or maybe your car do because the trains drove on the left. So why aren't the two left-most tracks used for the same direction?

No, it'll be a Chiltern Railways train - with a class 68 Diesel loco at one end (the other end is a class 91).
Wrexham & Shropshire train operator sadly ceased to be back in 2011. The route got taken over by Chiltern Railways....and after a few years they replaced class 67, with class 68 locos..... because they accelerate faster and can travel at faster speeds.
