So glad there are groups and people like the great VA staff out there. Here's hoping the otter will be okay. Please keep us updated. If he does pull through, would he have to stay at VA given his blindness?
I'm an old soldier, grew up in a family of hunters but I believe there is a special he'll for someone who for "sport" or just plain cruelty shoots a comparitively harmless creature like an otter. There is no reason for it or excuse. And I will add if you cant shoot straight enough to kill what you aim at you shouldn't have access to a gun. Wounding a poor critter and leaving it to die is an added level of pathetic. We are not living in the great depression, if you are hungry drive through mcdonald's, no one needs to hunt for food anymore, and killing for sport is just pathetic. I was an expert marksman with an m16, I hit 40 out of 40 and a chief of fire direction in the field artillery, I could kill to defend my country but killing for fun has no place in this world we live in today.
My god when are humans going to become humane. Haft of us wants to save them the other haft thinks nothing of other animals. Plus we need to stop fishing the oceans out. I really believe many of them starve to death. Otter are still on the verge of extinction.

Who the fuck is popping slugs in an otter? They are as harmless as they look. Otters aren’t pests either- you rarely see them. There is no excuse for shooting an otter more than once. It’s disgusting.

Sea otters live mainly on shellfish, and are found in kelp beds. There are plenty of other places that shellfishermen can get their crabs and shrimp.
