    If I ever saw one of those meters in 1968 I would have been awe struck by it's incredibly technical appearance. Brainy looking men in white lab coats would be using them and I would think we were so advanced as a society. Fantastic stuff. 😊✨

  • @garyramsey4275
    @garyramsey4275 2 года назад +34

    In the 1980’s, I worked at HP on those old voltmeters. They were, as you say, very sensitive to temperature. With many of these instruments, our solution for alignment was to use a spare top cover, with holes drilled into it directly over the calibration pots. This way we didn’t even have to remove the top cover to align the unit. (Spare top covers were easy to come by back then; I wouldn’t recommend drilling holes in any covers now!) It sure is great to see these magnificent old units still functioning, with a little TLC, after half a century!

    When I am doing my repair videos I just use a folder system on my computer, one for each repair, so even if one gets interrupted I can just add more footage to it and finish it when I can get back to it, also very handy for referring back to in case the memory gets a bit hazy, as can happen sometimes if I’ve been waiting a month or so for parts to arrive.
