never ever run more than 3 to 5 watts DK into these old amps, and no they cannot take the high power swings either. the owners manuals are everywhere read them first.
Rooster, I have an 1972 Maverick 250 and it looks like the one you are talking about. I am scheptical about putting in line. Should I just do it or what
Six Shooter you know somehow i had a feeling someone would comment this lol. I suppose I should've gone through the trouble of hooking my brownings up to it? A lot of tram d201 do 18-20 watts peak, which is only 5-10 less than this radio. Most people today are running radios that do at least 20 watts, thus why I used the 44 doing 25-28 peak. Anyhow, thanks for viewing and adding some input. It's a pretty good amp and for what I'm asking a steal.
@@donaldthompson229 you're going to have continued issues with that amp if it has 4 6lq6 driving 4 6lq6. One issue will be overdriving the output tubes. The other will be the strain put on the transformers. You said it came that way? From where? Not from the production line
Driver tubes are four 6JG6A with no plate cap , plate voltage on lower pins , and final tubes are four 6LQ6 tubes
The bottom meter is only suppose to work in low power. The top meter works on high power only.

I realize you want to sell the Maverick but, would have loved to see how to properly tune one.
Love this amp my first base amp
This is what I’m looking for!
These tubes are expensive. $$$$ The company or garage shop that made these amplifiers was in the indianapolis area I have been told. This amp rocks
6lq6= $45-$60 each
@@Rooster_Radio I had a varmit 250 that ran 6LQ6s. With my uniden HR2510 and antron 99 shooting DX was fun. worldwide. I was always impressed.
@@rondellschuyler7074 it's legal to put on a standard cb radio, doesn't necessarily make it a popular mode
my bad... I see what you mean. by the way, bottom meter only works on low power which I believe is the 4 driver tubes...

BorderPatrol139 not sure where you got 75? I never keyed over 3-4 watts into it... The 75-100 watt carrier was output carrier from the amp.
Do u work on galaxy 959
You still have that amp
Have two but not this one
I was asking about the D&A WARRIOR
Cool old amp but someone replaced the meters. Those are not stock.
How much
You're only 6 years too late lol
you know that's too much drive for the amp no radios in the 60 or 70 put out that much power

Six Shooter I'm well aware, thankyou.
I have a maverick 250 that has 8 6lq6 tunes in it
Tubes
Shouldn't be all 8 6lq6. The 4 driver tubes shouldn't be anyway
That's the way it came and I need the chokes put in it
