I’ve had both Di2 and eTap. My two major issues with Shimano are: 1. I live in Minnesota and a large part of my riding season is in serious cold. That means winter gloves and the Di2 paddles are too hard to feel and reliably shift for me with heavy gloves. Drives me nuts. 2. I travel with my bike which has couplers. ETap has a lot less wires and since the cables are brake cables, splitting them is easy and any adjustment is not an issue nor is it sensitive to adjustment. Di2 cables, while great are still additional connectors I’d be connecting and disconnecting and a failure would be a very big problem while traveling.
Good points... I live in Wisconsin and understand what you're saying about the shifting. I too have have both Di2 and Axs etap on different road bikes...they both work phenomenally. Haven't had an issue with either in regards to performance.
I had Ultegra DI2 on one bike. I eventually got red etap 11 spd on another bike and sold it after 2 rides. Shifting is noticeably slower and can’t shift under load. Loved the idea of fully wireless but not at the expense of shifting performance. In fact it wasn’t even as fast as my Red 22 mechanical.
for the cranks and cassettes, what is the range and teeth? since axs is 12 speed and has a smaller crank compared to dura ace, helps if the max and minimum range is equal between both groupsets
outside of the maintenance hassle, I do think that Di2 is better than etap. HOWEVER, 175 grams is equivalent to half of the water you pee out on your mid ride nature break. That weight might earn a pro 2 extra seconds up an alpine road, but there is really no point in getting caught up in the weight weenie marketing from cycling brands.
Nice video. I just upgraded from 105 to Ultegra. Phenomenal. I cant imagine how much better Dura Ace would be. Awesome workmanship too. Thanks for posting great videos.
@@supermitendo9654 thanks for clarifying. I went from manual to DI2 and it is ridiculously smooth. I can tell a huge difference. 105’s are a great workhorse. I was pleasantly surprised with the ultegra upgrade.
Should I install the new upcoming Dura Ace on my gravel bike that I am building? I could go GRX. If the new Dura Ace is wireless, will Ultegra and GRX follow suit?
I will always go Sram for road bikes, prefer Shimano for most other bikes, I fold paper over disc for my spacing Wanted to ask what is product using at 5:05?
The cranks you are comparing are both SRAM and the cassettes should have comparable gear ratios. But Shimano is lighter, there's nothing to argue about. I'm currently planning to build a light climbing bike and probably won't be able to get past Dura Ace even though I really like SRAM. Thanks for the video.
Great video, the production quality just keeps getting better. Keep up the great work! As a quick tip, when I worked at a bike shop, we would always use a hole punch to make the hole for the sprint/climbing shifters. It leaves a nicer finish than the hobby knife in the bar tape.
I’ve never ridden SRAM on a road bike, I’m a Shimano guy. I do run X01 Eagle on my MTB bike though, but Ultegra on my gravel bike and Ultegra Di2 on my road bike. I had white bar tape on my old Tarmac and it looked sharp when new. I found Goo Gone was the best product to clean it when it got a bit grubby but ultimately ended up replacing it quite often. I stuck with white as it matched my saddle as the purists say it should 💁🏻♂️
Shimano for road, Sram for Mtb. The silence for the road, and the noise confirmation for shifts is what I like about Sram, plus the X01 clutches are far better, and serviceable.
Bro, cool video. 🤔 While seeing your video, I thought a cool giveaway could be bike tools. Eg. T handle Allen set. 🤜🏻🤛🏻 I just want to share the idea to support your efforts. 🤙🏻
Great honest video. But it has been proven over and over in the last year that a few grams are not gonna make or break a bike. As long as the equipment works perfect that's what matters.. Just my opinion

BTW, it's a trick question; Dura-Ace is actually ALWAYS lighter than SRAM because a bike you get to ride is always going to be lighter than a bike you have to push because it breaks down. BOOM! [mic drop]

Why not use the buttons on the hoods for rear mech shifting?

Interesting vid bro. Why do you not have the sprint shifters in the drops?
Sprint shifters are a game changer.
I will put them on when I get the set I ordered

They have a chart of the comparison on google
When you say “crank”, are you actually referring to the chainrings? However, in either case there is not just one fixed size

Why do have the Quark Crank on the Duraace? Because of the powermeter or the DUB BB?
Yes to both, need the PM. I have a video where I compare the 11 speed chainrings against the 12 speed rings on the 9270 DA front derailleur

dura ace will not give you the gear range for gravel that GRX or Ultegra RX RD can do.
just go for sram is better more durable
