I was so incredibly happy (an understatement) to see this video - - I just upgraded from OMD EM-1 Mk II to the Sony A7RV and have been challenged (another understatement) on how to to take advantage of configuring the menu/settings to work for me. Many thanks for this very practical and grounded boost to my learning curve.

Thanks Alex, excellent videos and always helpful to get your perspectives. I use APS-C mode often enough to add it to the function menu; helpful if you want to push the flash sync SS up to 1/500 sec. on really flitty fishes. But also as a quick and dirty "extension tube" at 14-15mm WA - depending, of course on the subject.

Great video series, thanks for taking the time to create! Any chance you could share a link to download your camera settings file? Would be interested in loading it and seeing what I think!

I am happy to - I just need to look up how to do that. I will definitely write a text version of all the changes when I have time. Video is good for explaining why, but a text version is easier to follow to make the changes you want. But if people can just use a settings file that would be even better.

@@Alex_Mustard MENU → (Setup) → [Reset/Save Settings] → [SaveSettings] → Defaults to CAMSET01. Transfer memory card to computer and it's a saved to .DAT file located in the SONY->SETTINGS folder.

That is incredible, would that only work if downloaded in the A1 cameras? Or also for the A7RV? Thanks

For TTL users (I don't know any but I have heard there are some TTL user pagan :D ) the flash compensation is handy on one the customizable button. I use the toggle between setting effect on/off function also regularly to check whether the settings are right: the blue is blue not white or dark-blackish.

Very informative video even for folks that don't shoot the Sony A1. My OM1 is actually setup somewhat similar in regards to what I want to access quickly.

That was just amazing.I felt like being in one of your workshops from my home Alex. This camera is so foreign to me, it is terrifying to be honest. I have set up My Menu but accidentally added two of the same items, now I cannot delete them go figure!!

Another option: I shoot Canon 15mm F2.8 fish eye with MC 11 adapter in Sea and Sea Dome port, Sea and Sea housing. Sharp, fun lens. I store macro settings at M1 and wide angle at M2. If you want more "ergonomic " access to ISO, simply map ISO to one of the available programmable buttons.

Currently I use the A1 with the Sony 90mm and the Nikon 60mm with adapter in the same port made for the 90mm. I saw somewhere that you used a different port for the Nikon 60 with the adapter? I think it had a slightly concave port face?
Is that a current Nauticam port or an old one?
What other lenses and diopters are you using with your A1 ?
Thanks for the videos. I’m subscribed to the newsletter. Hoping to go on a trip with you sometime. Currently at Crystal Blue doing 2 day and 2 backwater most days.
An aside question. I have some used gear to sell but have not been able to register in wetpixel? Does it still except new users?
    Thanks again.

My video/talk Adventures In Sonyland gives a good run through my lens choices in the second half. I use the 60mm with both flat port and the Nauticam N100 4” port.

@@Alex_Mustard Which Nauticam flat port are you using with the Nikon 60mm? I have the port for 90mm. Can you explain a bit more on how the edges of the image were better through the N110 4" port?

@@JerryBowden as lenses get wider so we see more chromatic aberration when used behind a flat port underwater. If you photograph a flat scene underwater with a 60mm behind a flat port the detail begins to smear a bit in the corners. A curved port solves this problem. Also the field of view of a lens is reduced with a flat port so the curved port also helps differentiate the 60mm from the 90mm further.
