  • Chopin's Fantasy Impromptu was composed in Paris when he was a young man at the age of 24 (1824). (At the time he was famous in France as a noble and delicate composer.)
It was the first of his four impromptu pieces to be composed, but it was published posthumously and became the last.
Even though it was a song he cherished very much, he left a will to get rid of the sheet music because he did not want it published.
However, his will was not kept, and six years after his death, it was published as Impromptu No. 4.
The name 'Fantasy' was not given by Chopin himself, but by 'Julian Fontana', who was very close to him, when it was published. (Chopin dedicated it to Fontana.)
He has been close friends with Chopin since the Warsaw Conservatory and later served as Chopin's secretary.
It is an impromptu song that expresses Chopin's unique personality and sensibility without hesitation, but on the other hand, it has a solid and elaborate composition.
The song is composed of three parts, and the characteristics and strengths of this song include rapid harmony change, long arpeggio breath, and warm and dramatic melody line on top of rich accompaniment.
The movement of the right hand, which begins after the strong C# minor intro of the left hand, creates tension and at the same time gives a thrilling sense of liberation, and the melody of Cantabile that follows is melancholy yet romantic.
In the second half, the song concludes by repeating the gorgeous yet passionate melody of C# minor.
It is a song that is effective in many ways for both the performer and those who watch the performance.
It is one of the most popular songs from office workers who play as a hobby to children who have just started playing the piano.
