Just two questions - if you camp is there a night ranger on call? If you camp do they lock up the fort at night? Noisy or unruky fellow campers? Just looking for peace and nature! Thank you!
Yes. There is always a ranger on the island for emergencies. The fort is closed at night for safety, it isn't lit up and there are no hand rails, but it isn't locked.
Very cool video, thank you! I hope they let employees have free transportation on their off time as the yankee freedom is expensive for tourists! Can't imagine what the sea plane or a private charter might cost!
You're welcome! Yes, the park covers the cost of transportation to and from Key West for the staff. The employees would be broke otherwise or no one would be able to afford to work out there. Also, the travel time does count as work hours so it doesn't cut into their off time. Thanks for watching!
@@thedelusionaldreamer how awesome! How many days do get off after a week or so of work? Do you also need a place in Key West? That all seems expensive to be a park ranger!
working on them as we speak, a six week project to fix the moat wall and damage from 2 hurricanes. Sad for campers, I just missed the cancellations by 2 weeks @@thedelusionaldreamer
What a great idea! No one knows that island and the transportation better than you.
There is a lot of bad info out there about visiting the park. I hope to clear some up and help folks enjoy their time out there. 🤙🏽
Great information thank you so much for making this video to share 😊
You are most welcome. I had fun making it. 🤙🏽
Camped there in 2000. Awesome experience.
It is such an amazing place.
Thank you for all this info. Really helped me plan my trip!
You are most welcome!

Thank you! I love North Carolina. I worked at Cape Hatteras for a short while.

The finger docks are ruined! When was that scene shot?
Back in September 2022. I hope they are fixed by now!
