Can we appreciate how amazing those cutscenes looks tho, goddamn. And its just for a 10+ years old boxing game. It really convinced me that modern aaa game development truly evolve backwards.
I'm personally dreading the day when the game developers, in their infinite wisdom, take another AAA swing at Boxing, but make it RUclipsr/Influencer Boxing *Shudder* Not to say I hate the amateur circuits. But it's far, FAR from what should be celebrated about the sport.
Kind of weird that Boxing games are pretty much non existent (for the most part) now a days since I remember they were a lot back then but I guess in hindsight, it shouldn't be surprising.
Excellent video! I really appreciated the in-depth coverage of the history of boxing games, since I've been a fan of them for a long time. The first one that I remember playing was a very early PC game called Sierra Championship Boxing. It featured simulation elements and the ability to play as a super weird looking "Cartoon" boxer which definitely worked as nightmare fuel. Everyone makes fun of Ring King because of the between-rounds corner animations (and rightfully so), but the game itself was really fun back in the day, especially when you won a fight by knocking your opponent out with an uppercut which sent him out of the ring and off screen. Another good boxing game that you didn't mention was Legends of the Ring on the Super Nintendo, with the license of "The Ring" magazine and featured the ability to play as many great historical fighters. I really liked the 3/4 view and the control structure, because it seemed really intuitive and paved the way for the more intricate control schemes which followed within the EA games. Thank you so much for putting in the time and effort on these great videos. I look forward to your next ones!
I never grew up with fight night but I was fortunate enough to play fight night champion on xbox one via backwards compatibility, sometimes I question why I was born late enough to miss the best time in gaming lmaooo
In the early 2000s, I was big into dance dance revolution. The local arcade got Mo-Cap Boxing 🥊 one day. I was getting a full body workout at the mall arcade haha
The Isaac Frost isn't that hard but there's a mistranslation in the UI. To avoid players cheesing with jabs to the body the game asks for hooks and uppercuts - but in doing so it tells the players to use "power shots". This leads to players trying to use the slower power shot modifier and getting countered by Frost.
Legacy mode in this game is great. The story mode where the computer cheats and you have different challenges is infuriating. If I ignore the story mode I love this game, when I try to beat the cheap rules matches in it though it makes me about as angry as any game I've ever played.
With the new boxing game Undisputed coming out tomorrow, hopefully it will revive the boxing game community and inspire other companies to make boxing games
Just wanna say that Undisputed has hit all its milestones and now have full featured online/ranked and career modes along with create-a-fighter, it's hands down the best boxing game out today and should be on consoles this year (2024)
What episode does James reference this? Maybe one of the later ones after I stopped watching. But no, I heard of that game from a really old gaming series called broken pixels.
yeah i always loved boxing games.. its unfortunate, i guess boxing as a sport isn't as popular as it used to be, maybe EA feels its not really worth the risk.. but i thought maybe EA could've included a boxing mode inside the UFC game.. so we would've had that at least. I wish they still made Fight Night games every once in a while.
Dollar store Rocky movie might suck for a movie but for a video game story mode idea perfect I mean Rocky movies tag every segment of a pro boxer story aside from prison or jail boxing league part Undisputed is my guess for the prison league in the story mode
FN4 was the special one, Champions was good but went backwards in terms of simulation, became way too arcadey and even dropped the 60 fps if i'm not mistaken.
Sorry but Fight night champion wasnt a good game so many people loved it but my personal opinion is Fight night round 3 was the best boxing game ever made, the online was so much fun and the mechanics were amazing.
This game looks great for its age and its a decent game for it’s time but the actually fighting aspect online is absolutely garbage the blocking mechanics are horrible the danger of accidentally moving your head into a punch is non existent and the ability to do a quick circle with your analog to dodge just about any punch is embarrassing the better I got at this the game the more I understood it’s basically Tekken or street fighter not an actually boxing game hence why they haven’t made one sense very beautiful game tho
One thing that made me laugh about Isaac Frost is the fact that he's literally Randy Orton in boxing gloves.
Roman Reigns at 99 overall makes this a nightmare to be at him on Legend Difficulty
I think he also looked a lot like Chris O'Donnell from his Robin days plus a lot of tattoos.
Can we appreciate how amazing those cutscenes looks tho, goddamn. And its just for a 10+ years old boxing game. It really convinced me that modern aaa game development truly evolve backwards.
0:51 - I don't even want to know what's going on there 😂

Genuinely surprised Jake Paul wasn't announced as a playable fighter for Ufc 5... Yet.
@@GameDayonYT I heard he got signed with the new Undisputed boxing game. Console release is this year I think.
I gotta respect the devs for making the boxing equivalent of vergil 3
Hell yeah new GameDay video. You are in the goated elite in my subscriptions. Such quality, love you bro. Hell yeah.
Just like your other videos, This was funny especially when you talking about story mode 😂 A good overview of Fight Night Champion. Keep it up
Great video. I still haven't even played FN Champion. I'm still playing FN round 3 on PS Vita.
Kind of weird that Boxing games are pretty much non existent (for the most part) now a days since I remember they were a lot back then but I guess in hindsight, it shouldn't be surprising.
Its a joke of a sport today. The biggest star is a energy drink advertisement challenging an old man.
Glad to see another video by you. Boxing and tennis game fans are starving
Fight Night 3 on the PSP was amazing.
Fight night champion is the best fighting game ever
FN Champion feels so incredible to play. The engine and physics are amazing. I have played a career mode probably once a year at least since release.
Got recommended this channel and I have to say its pretty good!
Did you know that Isaac Frost returned in UFC 3 as an unlockable boss character?
Yep. Both bishop and frost are in Ufc 4 as well

Uterus fighting is what Mike Vick should've done instead, not illegal as far as I know, hell, in some circles he'd be "Acclaimed". 😉
I know exactly why this game flopped. It was released around the time PlayStation 2’s were being chipped. Everyone had it on white label.
A uterus fight?? 😂😂😭
i love your content :)
0:48😂🤣
Game would've been perfect if they hadn't made Frost a playable character online lol
The Memory of Issac Frost made me wanna break a controller all these years later
listening and watching your videos I miss rockstar’s bully 😢
The part when you play as Frost and beat your own brother though
Great video as always. Hopefully Undisputed will be good.
Got it cheap last year and played it for the first time, the game really is fucking great
In the early 2000s, I was big into dance dance revolution. The local arcade got Mo-Cap Boxing 🥊 one day. I was getting a full body workout at the mall arcade haha
Nice video and music choice.
I loved Fight Night Champion. The Soundtrack was really good too. I keep Hoping they'll make another good Boxing Game soon.

Awesome video man
Nice use of Redial in the background
I agree it's great to know BomberMan Hero is loved hopefully Konami will realize that.
I've played Rounds 2, 3, and 4. Haven't played Champion yet. Maybe I'll play it someday.

Fight Night Champion does still hold up. I still play it.
0:50 u got that joke from the AVGN didn’t ya?
What episode does James reference this? Maybe one of the later ones after I stopped watching.

9:45 *Andrew Golota liked that.
*Riddick Bowe disliked that.

Uterus fiiiiiiiiiiiight!
🤜♈🤛
EA and MMA games. Really need to cover that. EA's MMA game was a hidden gem (when UFC had a game through Yukes).
Bruh
Why you gotta do Round 4 so dirty? :(
FN 1 and 2 look SO DAMN GOOD on the PS2!
Loved the eyetoy face reveal
Dollar store Rocky movie might suck for a movie but for a video game story mode idea perfect I mean Rocky movies tag every segment of a pro boxer story aside from prison or jail boxing league part Undisputed is my guess for the prison league in the story mode
Issac Frost vs the BFR
❤❤ UNDISPUTED OCTOBER 7th FOR THE WBC EDITION🥊🥊
Its crazy the fact it was MJ who voiced himself too
@@KingJadInfiniteHopeno it was him he did the motion capturing also
UFC Undisputed series is way better than the EA UFC games.
This gsme was the best we need another
The same game that had Michael Jackson in it also has Bill and Hillary Clinton also. Shaq was in it too. Ready 2 Rumble Boxing: Round 2
FN4 was the special one, Champions was good but went backwards in terms of simulation, became way too arcadey and even dropped the 60 fps if i'm not mistaken.
I was ranked #22 in the world in the online boxing league but could not beat Isaac frost
Fight Night series was great.
THQ's UFC was great.
Neither exist now and instead we get a mid EA Sports UFC series
The frost fight🤦🏽♂️ took me 5 hours to beat him
Clearly this guy never played FN4...heck I think even on FN2 you could use the eye toy lol
ofc the last boss should knock you out with one punch! ever played punch out ?? thats the way it goes!
Sorry but Fight night champion wasnt a good game so many people loved it but my personal opinion is Fight night round 3 was the best boxing game ever made, the online was so much fun and the mechanics were amazing.
There were boxing video games ehile ali was still fighting.

After round 3 fight night fell off
Nah champion is awesome
