John Levén answers my brother's question about mixing - Dec. 3, 2021

Europe The Band launched a series of "Friday Night with Europe - Ask the Band" sessions starting from mid November 2021.
On December 3, the question from my brother Fabio was chosen and answered by the bassist John Levén on the band's Instagram!!! ( / cxccfrkig-o )
Fabio asked:
"During the mixing process of an album, to what extent do you have your say and how much room is left to the producer and sound engineer instead as for the sound and balance choices?"
John, in his enviable gift for synthesizing, turned it into "How do we mix our albums?" which, in short, is exactly what the question meant!!! 😄
This is what he said:
"It's always been different... what I can say is in the 80's we were always there and on top of it we always had the final last say in the mixes.... the last couple of albums it was like we had to send a lot of letters... the producer does the mix and sends it to us, we listen to it... which is a very good thing because we have to listen in our sound systems and then we send a lot of emails and say 'Lower the voices, lower whatever'... I think 'Walk The Earth', the final mix was the 24th mix... of course some songs are very difficult to mix and I think we should have probably spent some more time with some other songs, but that's the way it is!"
