Excellent as always. I have a few tips to add as far as fire safety. I worked a few years after I got out at a fire protection/alarm/sprinkler company with fellow vets who are still doing it and I still make the same arrangements I am recommending: 1. Fire extinguishers have a MFR date and are inspected annually. They have so many years of just visual inspections until they must be taken out of service for disassembly, hydro/pressure testing and refilling to be put back in service. This depends on what kind of suppression agent is inside the pressurized body. 2. The dirty secret is that hardly anyone does these tests and refills so it is easier/cheaper to just buy new extinguishers to swap out for unserviceable units. In my admittedly limited experience only the most expensive large-scale dry systems for data rooms actually get serviced rather than replaced. Your extinguisher sitting in a glass case in a hallway gets replaced rather than serviced. 3. Most handheld fire extinguishers just get replaced. Companies, like the ones i worked for, simply discharge most extinguishers and sell the steel bodies as scrap. 4. Fire alarm/sprinkler/extinguisher technicians are very blue collar and practical guys. So, they take the cream of the crop extinguishers for their own homes or to sell for cash but without a guarantee. They know as long as there is no real physical damage to the body of the unit and the pressure needle is in the green then it’s still going to work regardless of the fire code saying it’s too old to still be in service. 5. The cream of the crop and what I and all my buddies have are dry agent extinguishers. Dry agent extinguishers are used mostly in data rooms and places where you want to put out a fire but not destroy the equipment. Dry agent extinguishers once used can be vacuumed up, blown or swept out of the affected area. They are also many times more expensive than your run-of-the-mill wet agent extinguishers like K or the most common, ABC. This was just all preface to say develop a relationship, if you can, with someone who has a fire alarm inspection license. They’re willing to sell you extinguishers that work perfectly for pennies on the dollar but are by code dead-lined. This is especially true when you want to pick up dry agent extinguishers which cost an arm and a leg. I strongly recommend using dry agent units so you don't ruin all your electronics putting out a fire. Having a good relationship with a neighbor in the fire inspection industry can save you thousands of dollars down the road. Just having a relationship with a local mom & pop or smaller local/regional fire protection company can save you a lot. Even employees of larger city/regional fire protection companies will let you take perfectly serviceable stuff destined for scrap off their hands for a few bucks. Cash is king. You can buy 20 “red tagged” but completely functional extinguishers for what you’d pay for 3-4 new ones at a box store.
Great info! I did not know that about the dry chemical vs wet. I have a bunch of industrial ABC extinguishers. At my shop I (kind of) made friends with our extinguisher inspectors that come once a year and I bought a bunch from them. But, I did not know about the dry chem you mentioned and I will now start to switch. I need to have a conversation with the guy to see what I can do. I have extinguishers all over my house, garage. People also forget, the firearms people own need ammo and ammo is explosive and flammable and usually inside someone's bedroom, etc.... so it's a good idea to have a bunch of these extinguishers around plus keep ammo inside a protective box.
@jayyk31 Thank you for the feedback. Today with electronics and computer assets it’s good to think about preserving them as much as possible. Most people have never thought of having dry/clean agents vs. wet agents in fire suppression. I’m just glad i could help. 20-30 years ago a fire being suppressed by an ABC extinguisher might have only meant a TV or microwave getting destroyed. Now super expensive or hard to replace computer hardware is at stake. Anyway, my advice is another community building exercise that will also benefit you. Problem I have now, as a EMS helicopter pilot. Everyone thinks I am a drone with all my strobe lights and position lights on. So they think it’s cool to whip out their unrestricted non-eye safe laser and point it right at us. We have had three laser strikes in the past four nights. Thankfully no injuries, however if you know folks that might be tempted to do this. Please let them know it’s a felony, and it can blind the pilot cause a crash and cost people their lives. PSA complete
@ the challenge is the type of goggle and it’s category, then finding a lens that’s compatible for eye protection. We currently don’t have an issued lens for the helmet. I have made recommendations we do that. L-3 had some laser eye protection that snaps onto the back of the objective on the 6/9 series goggles. However finding a set that isn’t an arm and a leg is hard to come by. They don’t protect you either if the goggles are in the upright position. So you would need in essence a lens that’s compatible to the goggle or both possibly. The army has such an item through Gentex, however I am not sure it’s on the market for us civvy’s yet. Honestly up till now laser strikes have been rare here. I have only had three in the past ten years. The latest fears of drones every where is causing most people who are curious to stay out much later in the night to look. So with the sudden change All of us are now looking for possible solid solutions. We are honestly a bit behind the curve, so if you’re a fellow aviator on here and have suggestions please send me a message.
I know legally it's a big deal, but has any pilot ever had any type of eye damage ever from a laser pointer? The beam spread at distance plus quick movement probably means unless stypyro made the laser pointer you ain't getting hurt.
@ there has been several incidents not just in our company but several. The beam seems to diffuse when it hits the wind screen. We had a high power purple laser last year that destroyed a set of our goggles.
Last I checked li was still NY lol. For all my life the bike trails have gone around the sub stations on our east end of li. Can literally walk right up to the rusty chain link fence in the middle of the woods on some. It's been vulnerable for decades and they are just concerned now that there's an actual threat to target it. They would need real person guards to secure them. Half the cameras on the sub stations aren't functioning...don't ask me how I know but it's a fact in NY that the security camera systems on them are not maintained and years behind on repairs with no sense of urgency to fix them until now.. sounds to me like they know of an actual credible threat. Our HAM repeaters and GMRS repeaters are on 3 day generator back ups for power. We have local group running a 6 meter link over varaFM across the island. Our Ecomm measures in NY will hold out for as long as us operators have breath in our lungs.

Detailed thoughts and considerations are exercised in every report. There is no jumping to conclusions or what would draw in conspiracy theorist click bate. Everything known (at that time) of the situation, is used in the analysis. However, what is historically known, human behaviour, psychology,Intel dissemination, policies, laws, regulations, humint, signint, and more, are all taken into consideration. This is why I continue to return to S2 and recommend this channel to those that may have a "cloudy' or "muddied " interpretation of current situations. You discuss fear. Most don't. Yet you are a relief.
another great report
Appreciate you my brother.
When the politicians scream "We have to do Something!!!". Tell them that if you do then we are dancing to their tune and beat.
Doing the 'wrong thing' can be worse than doing nothing.
Typical "cause the problem/offer the solution" scenario
Thank you for this update.
The insurance companies are saying, we don't cover drone damage.
R u serious? (Rhetorical) I don't need a source, i definitely believe you
I’ll be in NJ fora few days over the holiday. I’ll be 140 miles from home (supplies) during that time. I can’t say that I’m not nervous….
This is so bizarre man. Hope you enjoy Christmas
Thanks for Intel updates
Thanks for the wire. I have net seen a good shot since the good flying car pics in the early days.
Great brief. Thanks again.
Merry Christmas 🎉
Thanks S2
Far too much time wasted on this drone nonsense.
"Don't look there, look here."
@@izzyplusplusplus1004exactly, distraction, pretty sure they are our drones
There are multiple dozens of issues that we should all be watching, but there's no way to track it all simultaneously and satisfactorily.
I honestly think its a distraction from all the pardons that the president has done.
@@lonewolfsurvival3453 hence, information overload
Problem I have now, as a EMS helicopter pilot. Everyone thinks I am a drone with all my strobe lights and position lights on. So they think it’s cool to whip out their unrestricted non-eye safe laser and point it right at us. We have had three laser strikes in the past four nights. Thankfully no injuries, however if you know folks that might be tempted to do this. Please let them know it’s a felony, and it can blind the pilot cause a crash and cost people their lives.
PSA complete
Can you legally and safely fly at night with laser safety goggles on? I highly doubt it, but I thought I'd ask.
Star Light, Star Bright, Will I be called a drone tonight!
Thank you, S2! You are top-notch and very much appreciated!

Merry Christmas, sir!

Thanks for all you do man. merry xmas
Bro take however many days you need, you earned it.
To stop drones tell law biding citizens not to fly where they already aren't flying
It's "law-abiding citizens".
Thank you S2
these drone things remind me of Orson Welles' radio program of the War of the Worlds
Happy 🎄 Christmas 🎁⛄
yes, merry christmas
Did you pardon a predator? HEY look at that drone!
Here in the South, we like to talk trash about you guys, but we do recognize the real grit many of you have.
Merry Christmas to you all. ✝️🎄🌟
Good on ya for taking a break, even if it is the busy holidays
Great update 👍

US House Approves DJI Drone Ban Bill connecting dots is no that hard with so many thinking laws do no apply to them and everyone at home that could do anything.
What are you trying to say?
I always really appreciate the fantastic maps you feature in your videos.
To be clear, I haven't watched all of this video, but I have been watching your videos for years. S2 does not jump to conclusions, or get onto whatever band wagon of convenience. In short, It would not be unreasonable to expect that those viewers that chose to watch this channel want a clean assessment, unfettered by emotions, rhetoric and ignorance.
Merry Christmas
Love these posts
This timeline is weird. I get some of my highest quality news from a guy in a balaclava.
