I remember playing Homecoming first on the PC as my entry to Silent Hill. I was so scared of playing the original ones because I was afraid of playing them. I got very bored and frustrated with Homecoming, and then decided to play Silent Hill 3. It was the biggest surprise of my life.
SH HC: the game always felt to me it started out as some dude returns home and gets sucked into the Otherworld. Alex's story feels like it was halfassed at the last minute to mesh him into the overarching narrative. SH2R : best silent hill ever
Homecoming is an amazing game, even if it has a weak plot, but the atmosphere, gameplay, monsters, bosses are made very cool, when I played SH2 Remake I immediately noticed that these two parts are very similar, they have the same combat system, very realistic and good
Gotta say that the Remake brilliantly adapts and refines the combat system from Homecoming. It's more fluid and agile compared to the original version, but not so much that it makes you feel like a superhuman
Homecoming is the most forgettable game of the series that I've played (I've never played Downpour). It doesn't deserve a remake. It deserves a rewrite from the ground up or to be retconned.
Homecoming is representing the most realistic relationships between family members. Far more realistic than kill-the-wife 2. I have absolutely no emotional impacts on SH2 but I have a very strong one on Homecoming as it directly reflects on my own life.
Silent Hill is best known for selling bulletproof non-flat tires. Too bad the creators disappeared when the town went abandoned. If you see flat tires, either air went bad or they're fake.
Homecoming would need a complete reimagining. Some of the story ideas really have potential that with the correct coat of paint and general presentation could be quite good. Cut out the direct movie references, completely redo the combat and some of the enemy designs, remove pyramid head entirely and flesh out the shorter parts of the game. But it'd be a huge undertaking and ultimately a bit pointless when a new entry can be crafted from scratch. It's probably not a good financial decision to remake one of the least liked entries in the series so it'd never happen.
Ironically, many of SH HC's concepts such as the "spider" inspired monsters and the way that works with the combat system are quite similar in the SH2 remake, but downscaled in scope & variety and then improved upon.
How can you compare this... Homecoming is a dull piece of work, talentlessly exploiting elements of the series and the films that inspired the original SH, absolutely flat. SH2 is a masterpiece of psychological horror. which Homecoming tried to repeat. It's like an excellent student, from whom a poor student tries to copy. Without understanding what was written, and talent. if you only compare it as a game where you can run and shoot - ok. But Silent Hill's strength has always been in the psychological/mystical subtext and story.
@@syphrus23 Nice cope. Took me 22 hours to complete. Not sure why anyone would lie when they just have an opinion about the game which is negative. That is pathetic. You never think.
@@syphrus23 SH2 remake = no immersion, characters and voice acting felt like they were reading from a script. VERY empty feeling and forgettable experience. Over the shoulder camera destroyed any sense of immersion, and for me this made the game feel like a walking sim. 3 enemies the entire game and a crapload of combat as opposed to the original, that is ridiculous. Becomes repetitive and boring. Watching the same animations over and over as you combat the same enemies over and over, in locations which kind of felt the same to me as well, except Lakeview Hotel which was the nicest looking part of the game for me. @@SoulSurvivors86 I see you wish it had dynamic camera instead of over the shoulder. Yeah, Homecoming is far and away my least favorite Silent Hill game. It plays like a fan game and not in the good way.
i think people in the comment not understand that these two game is 16 year apart bruh...

Silent Hill Homecoming + The Evil Within 2 = Silent Hill 2 (2024)

mom can we have sh2r?
we have sh2r at home
sh2r at home:
SHHC - Can’t smash TVs or car windows, 0/10
SH2R - Can smash TVs and car windows (it can even get you items at times), 10/10
I loved homecoming. I think it’s the first game I got 1000 achievement points in. It’s just great and gets wayyyyyy too much hate.
I love Homecoming also but Sh2 better i think.

Wow AWESOME
SH2R is better of course, but I love Homecoming too. Good battle system, great atmosphere and soundtrack, awesome monster design

MUCH prefer homecoming. SH2 remake is my least favorite of all SH games now. It felt empty, no atmosphere, bland and almost like a walking simulator.
You never played Silent Hill 2 Remake. Post better detailed excuses, your answers are too basic.
