I'm so glad you mention how our bodies change with age, hormone levels, etc. I honestly feel like, having gone through menopause, that my body had almost as many changes as puberty. Different changes, of course, but still changes. BTW-ditching my heels years ago was a decision my feet, hips and back all think was the best one!
I used to wear a uniform to work. Then, when I retired, I was short on regular clothes. A friend and my sister gave me some shirts when they cleaned out their closets. (I felt obligated to take them.) I hate clothes shopping but, I shopped and finally found a couple shirts that I like and that fit! I sorted through the hand me downs and donated 7 shirts! Yay! Glad they are gone! Happy dance! (I did keep 2 mediocre hand me downs until I find 2 more that I like but I am proud of myself AND my closet is more manageable!)
“I have very very high standards for comfort,” that pretty much sums up my whole wardrobe. :) A good closet clean out is so refreshing. My space is limited to a 4 foot reach-in closet (no dresser) so I’m probably due for a purge again. Stuff accumulates when I’m not paying attention, and truthfully sometimes it’s hard for me to get rid of the old thing when I get a new thing, thinking of getting the full amount of wears out of something before I get rid of it. Frugality and simple living sometimes work against each other.
As I watched you I wondered how many pjs do you need? 😜 I've learned that I don't need 10 pjs, 10 workout clothes, 10 leggings, etc. I wash once a week so I have enough to wear without overflowing drawers/closets and making my decisions of what to wear difficult each day. I wear my clothes for 2 days if I haven't gotten them dirty or stinky. Good luck on your capsule wardrobe!! I'm excited to hear all about it!! Thanks for your videos, Robin. Love your enthusiasm.
@@MinimalistHomeLooking at that drawer I initially thought it was excessive too…then I pictured my PJ shelf and it’s about the same. I’m across the way in North Vancouver and we really do need options for like 4 different weather situations: Summer boiling hot, summer mild/spring, fall/winter mild, winter subzero. Yes, I live inside but even with central heating/AC you need all these options!
What I have found is I actually GET VARIETY by minimizing my wardrobe. You actually wear out your clothes and can get new instead of 100’s of items you never use.
Dying during the heel section! 😂😂😂 I keep two to three pairs in my closet for the intention of using some time on a hypthetical special occasion in the future but I absolutely loathe heels as well! I definitely have to see if they actually fit now 🤔 didn’t know that about our feet size as we age….i definitely also have learned to prefer comfort over “the look”….life is too short to be uncomfortable! ❤
It’s funny, I was thinking about a knitted jumper that’s in my laundry basket that needs mending, just before I saw you had a new video up. I’m thinking I could fix the cuff but am I going to wear it? does it really suit my body shape? Yep gotta love menopause😩 so I’ve decided, it’s going in the rubbish. Thank you so much for everything you do for us 🥰
I have decluttered my wardrobe to for drawers. , I have 100 items including bras , underwear and shoes. I have moved from a 3 bedroom home to a motor home
I never switch out seasonal clothes lol as you know living in Canada (I’m in Calgary) the weather changes on a dime, and it can be hot and a storm rolls in and then it’s cold Lake Louise got snow yesterday 🥶 we only got to 10 degrees😝
Nude heels are always a classic , however if you go to a party , event etc . Do you really want to be miserable 30 mins into it ? No ditch the uncomfortable shoes spend a bit more money for a classic dressier shoe that is sooo comfy and just think , no more often than you will wear them they can last decades . Major simplification for that part of life ! Something to think about maybe ...love all your videos ! Cant wait to see the capsule wardrobe .
I have a t- shirt addiction.😫 I can’t help myself if I see cute tees especially if they’re Disney, seasonal or on sale……or better all three. A Disney Christmas tee on sale is magical. I need to declutter and be really diligent and very mindful with what I need and love. It won’t be easy. Socks for me are an easy job. I kept about three pairs and uncluttered the rest. I barely wear socks even in our cold Canadian winters.😂
Sounds like you really love certain t-shirts! If you wear them and only keep the ones that fit well and you truly enjoy, it’s all good! But don’t buy them ALL the time… Also, I’ve seen quilts made of old tshirts and that’s a cool way of keeping ones you love and don’t wear or fit in anymore.
As I got older, I realized that "phase of life is over" in the fashion world! It made it easy to donate, but a little hard as too many items still had the tags. Oh well, it's time for someone who truly appreciates them to actually wear and enjoy!
I think having heels for a wedding or special event is a good idea. I actually got some fancy slots though that I wore to wedding last time.... I don't think I own heals. 🤔 If I do.... They may be hidden back there. And they are chunky and from highschool. 😂 And maybe don't fit my big mama feet.
I wish I had as many clothes as you have. I have one pair of pajamas and very few shirts and 3 pairs of jean shorts and 3 pair of jeans. 2 pair of tennis shoes and 1 pair sandals. lol I love clothes but hate shopping. Plus I have awful taste. Very proud of you. Great job decluttering! 🍁🍁🩰👠👕
Robyn! I have a problem with my workout stuff. It's all from when I was way heavier. However, it now all feels weird on me. I want to toss it all and get all new stuff. How is that productive? It should be sufficient but just doesn't feel right. Does that make sense? 😮
Love your videos Robin. Off topic but you did mention it, why do you think you can't lose more then 1 size of clothing? Is it really impossible to lose a large amount of wait after menopause? Thanks.
You can make up a uniform. Find a pair of trousers/skirt that you like and get 2-3 in different colours. Get 5 tops, i go mainly plain, that match trousers. And wear it on repeat. I'd a summer and winter option in my last office as no air con, just lighter options for summer. But once its set, i dont change. You need to look smart enough, but you can repeat the same.

I gave my heels to my hairdresser and she loved them! So many were barely worn! My heel days are over!! Yay!!

Great declutter, enjoyed watching.

I love you even more now when you said “New Order, Pet Shop Boys” Lesley England x

It’s is similar in Wisconsin. I didn’t even know that people changed out their wardrobes seasonally until I started watching You Tube.

Do the zipper up on the cardigan so it stays on hangers

Makes sense! I suggest getting a few things that fit well now. You accomplished a lot and want to feel good in your workout clothes to keep going! ☀️
Just a thought but soles from shoes can be repaired with new ones. Love the declutter, thanks you
Sometimes it’s worth it to do that, but you need to really want to and also actually intend to go get it done. ✅
I want the moose sweater from Norway if the family doesn't want it. 😂

Volume lost at 21:10-22:10. Thanks for the video. For me, shoes that are cute but are uncomfortable, have to go.
Thank you! I just fixed it!
Wearing a uniform to work would make my life so much easier. I’m a teacher & they have a handbook that stresses that we should look professional.

Do you have a minimalist curly hair routine ?
I have a curly hair routine, but it's not minimalist 🤣

Haha the shoe tryout was the best (I know you like the hockey references). Sorry but you didn't make the team!
On shoes, if they are uncomfortable, get rid of them. Find a pair which has a wedge or something like it instead. Your feet will thank you! 🙂
I would fold all clothes to make them sit better but I think that is my ocd
Love your nail colour in this video. What is it?
I'm not sure of it's name. Gel nails from the salon ☺️
No Robyn, it is not the beginning of fall! 😅😢
haha, it is to me!
Could you hang the concert t-shirt in a shadow box? Just an idea.
Ooooh’ like a poster!? 💫
Don't forget to ask Mom if she wants the sweater your Grand Mother made.

Pues habrás hecho limpieza pero la organización deja mucho que desear
Robyn! Your keeping the painting clothes and tosding the sweater your great-grandmother knitted? "Stop the insanity"
Take a picture of yourself in the sweater your Nana made then you won’t feel so bad getting rid of it.
If I don't wear it, it's gone.
yessss!!
So do you not have shoes anywhere else in the home?
no, I do! I keep them in the hall closet too.

All of the talking while decluttering turns me off so much of the time I mute and watch. The actual decluttering helps me, not the talking so much. 😊
