- Shadow Environment Minister Jonathon Duniam says the union movement is “completely out of touch” with Australian business.
The ACTU has vowed to lobby the government to scrap junior rates of pay if their Fair Work Commission application fails.
“(They) are going to drive the stake into the heart of the small business community even further,” Ms Duniam told Sky News host Peta Credlin.
Really! No! Unions have always being out of touch how do you think all the manufacturing jobs ended overseas
@@marymartin-q2y What a mindless reply, manufacturing went overseas due to corporate greed. Getting things made off shore was cheaper due to non unionised cheap wage rates off shore so they closed their factories, Holden, Ford, shall I go on? You really need to do some research.

The ACTU is destroying Australias way of life. Have a look at how many businesses in the hospitality sectors are closed over the weekend. It’s a disgrace. Unions have gone to far and need to be reigned in

The trouble is that the Labor and the unions are all sitting either on bloated taxpayer funded salaries or union funds with zero regard to efficiency, productivity and effectiveness. The ignorance of Labor and the unions on how the private sector operates is astounding.

@@EL_Duderino68 Yes, with legislation. All major IR reforms in Australian were implemented by legislation and the courts.
Legislation: It wasn’t until 1916 that the Eight Hours Act was passed in Victoria and New South Wales, legally establishing the eight-hour workday. By 1948, the Commonwealth Arbitration Court approved a 40-hour, five-day working week for all Australians.
My point was that unions are not liked in the private sector because of causing trouble at the workplace and taken an anti-productivity stance which the private sector cannot afford because the shareholders would not tolerate this. I do not deny that unions in the PS have had great success, especially with Labor governments by making them bend over backwards on union demands because taxes can just be increased as necessary to pay for the exorbitant wage demands. The private sector cannot afford this.

@@EL_Duderino68 No employer and no jobs. The difference is that when governments employ people, the wage come from the taxpayer. When the private sector employes people, the money comes from shareholders who have invested their money in the business. This is the difference that Labor and the unions have never understood. Simply put, if private business doesn't make a profit, they will go broke. If the private sector employe duds who don't want to work and constantly cause trouble at the workplace, then shareholders will stop investing in such businesses and that means there are no jobs no matter how much unions scream.
Furthermore, real wealth is not created by governments with bloated and inefficient union-controlled organisations but only in the private sector.

We already have laws for this the importer has the responsability to ensure the product complies to Australian safety standards!
Businesses will no longer employ juniors. Might as well employ mature people who actually work hard if you have to pay the same.

never let any union in your businesses doors , dictating how you run it or who you can employ ,they made bikies illegal for the same thing. going on strike because there was no toilet paper ,a 5 day strike,but it was a long weekend as well
When people become more productive and when they can give you the correct change on a purchase then I guess it is time for a pay rise.
