Here's a fun little fact: about half of the tech that I got to show off during this run was found and routed in the practice room at AGDQ2019 - just six months before! And of course, it can't be said enough: authorblues, cyclone, and WeGoGiant deserve so much credit for making this run amazing

The developer just announced this today "FDG Entertainment has announced that Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom will be coming to PlayStation 5. On PlayStation 5, the game will be upgraded with native 4K support while also running at 120FPS using HDMI 2.1 for some super-slick platforming action. FDG Entertainment will also confirmed they be offering the next-gen version of the game as a free upgrade for all players who have already purchased the title. With 2D games such as Monster Boy already looking great on current-gen hardware, it's good to know that there's room to upgrade further with 120FPS support, although you will need a TV or monitor that supports such high frame rates to see the results!"
I was curious about the Monster/Wonder Boy series. (and if they were connected) As a big fan of the Warioland games, this is actually alot like it. Now I'm sold.
If you enjoy Warioland, there's a lot that will feel similar enough for you to have a good intuitive feel for the game, for sure! There's a lot to love throughout the series - the newest game feels extremely fresh of course, but the older games have gobs of charm.
Try to start with Wonder Boy in Monster Land first (second game in the Wonder Boy series, originally home ported from arcade to SMS). MB takes the best from WB3 and seems like a much better game than MW4.
I've never had the autoscroller assume i'm not moving for no reason. Quite the opposite, I had trouble finding out just how much non-movement counted as not moving, and it was a LOT.
I played this series on the TGFX as a kid over and over. I kept remembering the music and the enemies as they appeared and was like "Woah! There was an entire series after this game?"
So for remastered games there's: 1. Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap 2. Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom 3. Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World By any chance, is there a community favorite that most would recommend? I think Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom looks amazing, but I'd rather see what others think.
I know this is a month old but if your curious Probably Monster Boy (Which is actually not a remaster its an original game). The Dragon's Trap is hyper faithful remake of the original (in fact you can flip between old and new graphics with a button press) and it honestly does hold up but it was a game made in 1989 so you have to go in knowing that your going to have to deal with 30 year old mechanics. (Although 30 year old mechanics that hold up surprisingly well) Asha in Monster World is the only one I haven't played, it reviewed poorly and the 3d graphics look pretty terrible.
