"Black Raven" is a folk reworking of the poem-song by non-commissioned officer of the Nevsky Infantry Regiment Nikolai Verevkin "Under the Green Rocket", first published by the newspaper "Russian Invalid" on September 8, 1831.
The song is considered to be a Cossack song and tells about a dying Cossack who asks raven to tell his family about his death.

Propobly you should not translate song word to word. I suppose that overal all meaning is that Black raven it is enemies that are circling above solder's motherland and he's telling that he was proud to give his live for motherland. The song about the spirit of sacriface for the motherland
