He was in the audience at the bar and the cover band invited him on stage and you just heard the spontaneous incredible result. Listening to Chris’s is like a spiritual experience. Love your reactions. Keep on keeping on
Best reaction channel by far! No stopping no talking over the song and we get a honest humble reaction and thoughts at the END of the video... Bravo!!! Keep it up my friend...
He is one of my favorite artist ( like top 3)!!!!! He made me like country lol, even tho I don't box him as country... He is soul, r&b, blues, rock and country. Absolutely love him! Amazing talent. Thank you❤
Jamal..... ANYTIME someone does a tribute to the "Godfather of Soul", one thing's for sure, if they screw up & make a mess of it, they'll never live it down, especially given the negative publicity in this social media obsessed world. In my honest opinion..... He not only "nailed it", but knocked it CLEAN out of the park & with the multiple guitars involved, I was getting a distinct "BB King vibe" also 🎤👋😆👌🎸 He was brilliant ☝️😎👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
@@jamelakajamal Stapleton bares his soul with honesty and no pretense about it. That's all he has to give and fortunately for us, he has a lot to give. The best have a lot, they give it all and leave the stage with no gas in the tank.
The band is the Shadowboxers and Chris was a guest. Love the reaction of the guy on keys and the guitar player off to his left when he started to sing, lol. I'm digging the way you produce your reactions. Good stuff!
I so love your reaction to this song/ Chris Stapleton. I have listened to both of you several times....and tear up every time. You GET IT. THE BLUES GOT TO COME FROM THE SOUL.
I don't think that I can come up with another modern soul singer on his level. If you know of any more singers with his soul, please tell me, because this kind of singing is what soothes my heart!
Chris Stapleton is awesome. I had the chance to see him in concert in Greensboro, North Carolina, where I live, and he is the very best. Please play Parachute, What are you listening to, they're also good songs. ✌peace
Chris was in the audience watching this band. They asked him to come up and sing a song with them. He just walked up, grabbed a guitar, and did that. That’s why the band was reacting the way they were and why Chris asked if someone was going to play the guitar solo. A phenom.
There ya have it....I can just SEE the stank all over James's face! And the sheer enjoyment of the band makes ya feel so good inside!! TY...love feeling your reaction..
Lawdy lawdy I've seen this mmaannyy times!!! Honestly he could SANG the daggum phone book and I would listen ALL DAY LONG!!! Thanks for another EPIC REACTION...blessings 👏👏👏
As you say... He put some STANK on that. Lol. Pretty much any song he does, you know before it even starts that he's gonna kill it. And he does. Every single time. 🎸🎶🎼
I'm back rewatching your reaction to this great moment in music courtesy of Chris Stapleton's generosity by saying yes to that bands request for him to come up and do this with them. Not is guitar, not his band💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
It is a rare talent who can transcend their "niche" and just be who they are. Prince. James Brown. Chris Stapleton. Tom Petty. The Beatles. etc. No matter what they do you stand up and pay attention.
Chris has a lot of Elvis in him. And the same kind of man Elvis was. Love him and his wife I give her a lot of credit for helping come out of his shell. You need a good woman by your side. your girl Liz.
There's enjoyment to be had here, for sure. There's also a lesson in it. Pull up a chair and lemme tell you a story that will help people get more out of music. One cat I've seen numerous times over the last 43 years is Bob Dylan. I think he's a genius, one of the greatest songwriters we've produced. Dylan came out in the early 60s and has had numerous hits and sold millions of records and had countless people, including many of the greats cover his songs. He's got a Nobel Prize, for Pete's sake. So back around 2004 I went to a festival called Memphis in May where Bob Dylan was one of the headlining performers. I got down in front of that stage early in the day just to have a good seat when Dylan finally came on. As the sun dipped below the horizon behind the stage, we could see the tour bus drive around back as the lights dimmed. A couple minutes later, Bob Dylan and his band walked onstage, grabbed and plugged in, stepped up to the mics and hit that first song so smooth and so tight. Then they did another song, then another one. It was just one great song after the other with nothing being said in between them. That band was so good, the sound system was excellent, aw, man it was a fantastic performance to any Dylan fan. He never introduced the band or said hello or asked if we were all gonna pawty tonight - none of that. It was just one beautiful song played beautifully after the other. After the last song, they put down their instruments as the crowd roared. The whole band stepped to the front of the stage looking out, kinda loitering for a minute, then the all waved, turned around and left the stage. I was awestruck, and just stood there looking at that empty stage, so thrilled to have been able to witness what I just saw. Next to me were a few people who were angry because Dylan never spoke to the crowd. He never shouted, "How y'all doin' tonight?" or anything. So I told them, "You guys don't get it. You came for the show by the superstar. It's not about the big show. It's not about the superstar. it's not about you or me of the festival. "What you saw was pure cool. "It's the SONGS, man, that's what Dylan just showed you. It's all about the songs, and you have to admit, they were all played beautifully by a tight band." One of the other guys said, "Yea, well, but..." - and I cut him off. "There's no 'but' about it. It's all about the songs, not the superstar playing them. That's what Dylan just told you. Enjoy the songs, man. That's all that matters." I would say the same thing goes about musical genres. It doesn't matter if it's hip-hop, blues, country, bluegrass, classical, folk or rock. Those labels are good for reference but mean nothing when it comes to the song. Take down the walls if you have them. Is it a good song or not? The same is true of the performer. It is a good performance of a good song or not? That's what we just heard from a so-called country singer doing a James Brown soul classic - a fantastic performance of great song. Pablo Picasso, who I think was the greatest artist of the 20th century was once asked what genre of painting was his favorite. He said, essentially, "I don't have a favorite. I like them all, but each one is 90% shit. The thing to do is find the 10% that is not shit and enjoy it in every genre." That goes for music, too. My advice is to widen your horizons until you find that 10% in every genre. They are there. Go find them, and enjoy the pleasure, the new and different, strange and surprising pleasures that await you.
Chris is a good example of why no one should rule out any genre of music. There are jewels in all of them. If you just stick to just one, you miss out on so much.
its funny to watch all these reactions over again to the SECOND Chris song the reactors hear, which is in many cases is this one, or "Sometimes I Cry" and folks realize Chris was only singing at 15% power on "Tennessee Whiskey"
Try Rhiannon Giddens. She has an incredible voice. "Louisiana Man" and plays banjo barefooted. I love that you did this. James Brown was a beast. Ive heard very few people do a James Brown song justice and Chris killed it. Chris is one of those guys that sounds so much better live. Id absolutely love if you would do a reaction video to Chris Cornells tribute to Prince. Chris has one of the most amazing and unique voices. You must watch him sing Nothing compares to you. He will blow you away trust me. He also does an amazing tribute to Whitney Houston. Keep the videos coming!
I enjoy seeing the band go wild over this... their grins, from his first line, is amazing. When I consider he and that band had to rehearse this song - at least 6 times, probably 10. First, the band wanted to know why they should rehearse THIS one. He showed 'em. But he wasn't perfect. And neither were they. So they had to have 2-3 instrument rehearsals, probably with him walking thru the lyrics, not at full-power. He was thinking of how to deliver those lines, too. So, about Rehearsal number 5 or 6, they had a good foundation. Then they'd screw up - miss a lyric, miss a beat, miss a chord... and try it again. And then probably a time or two after that. "I think we've got it." Then the performance. The HAPPY SURPRISE on everyone's face is evident, and watching the two rhythm guitarists stand back as their Lead stuttered his start - not knowing if Chris was going to rip into it or not. Evidently, somewhere in rehearsals, he'd done that - or tried, and would defer. I think the musicians' reactions are priceless. Even with rehearsals, they were blown away. (And just think - if this was a First Ever attempt - wow - then this was a karaoke jukebox cover band, and were still blown away.
I've found Chris' audience-videos of his WHIPPING POST performances and, gag, here's where I wish the venue would provide great recording facilities! MAN'S WORLD has not-good video, but the audio's good enough to carry it. His WHIPPING POST is even lower quality audio but it's still clear - he IS a candidate to cover Gregg Allman's vocals. I wonder if he'll do NOT MY CROSS TO BEAR - which could be tailor-made for Chris.
People dont realize this was improv ...No rehearsal at all ... This dude is worth going to go see ..

He nailed it! James is up there smiling and yelling “Sang it Chris!”

Even the Godfather of Soul himself would be looking down from heaven & giving this a special "HEY!!!!" & a serious "thumbs up" also 👍👍👍🙌🙌🙌🙌

i love the reaction of the band members listening to him sang
YES 🙏🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥

Yes!
He was actually invited on stage by that band that night to sing that song. It was straight improv haha that’s crazy
He is american music! Blues, country, soul…all in one person.

YOu have the best voice Chris, it is a gift and I really enjoy it. Excellent
Holeeee crap! That was unbelievable. Unfricking-believable.
I think when someone is as talented and able to sing with that much passion it just transcends. Chris Stapleton is a genre unto himself.
My favorite part is obviously his vocals, but just behind that is the continual “Holy Shit!” Expressions on the faces of the band members.
HE KILLED IT🎸🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Chris is in a league all by himself. Not only country music.

YES HE’S INCREDIBLE 🙌🏾
chris came from another planet to teach us what music was supposed to be
He’s walking on sacred ground with that song, but if anyone could sang it and do it’s justice, it’s Chris Stapleton.
I have often wondered how he would do a Al Green or maybe a Marvin Gaye song. I think that would be pretty neat.
Having grown up in Janes Brown’s hometown of Augusta, Georgia. I consider myself a JB fan of his music. This cover is so cool!
