I guess you might be right, sometimes even a bad car stereo install will pick up some intereference from generator/ignition.

That whine is the sound of competition gearbox with straight cut cogs, not alternator interference.

though the electrical whine interference from the alternators gets annoying on some of the cars. oh well, i'll take it =)
