I saw this tour and my mind just got blown! A 1x12 off stage driven by a triaxis holy fuck. I could have sworn it sounded like the Mark V with a 4x12. Great job man! Fooled me!
Hey Ron, thanks for the vid. I have an RG 16 and it's great. Someday this mastermind midi switcher will be mine! The fact that JP has one was the final nail in my RJM fund coffin.
Of course it's small with an Axe-Fx! Did you see that the two TriAxis's were not exactly the same...? Dynamic Voice setting was different and the switch outputs were different...
@@ronmenelli3899 You remember well but in this video we talk (as I understand) about cascade... in the sense that the final is connected to the Ax not to the TriAxis... So it seems that the signal comes out of the TriAxis, enters the AX and from the latter enters the final.... The FX used in the Fractal are in parallel (I think)...
from this video I see that John is using the Fractal Axe-FX II for everything but the Flanger effect right? He is using his TC Electronic Dreamscape pedal for the flanger.. please correct me of I am wrong... thanks for the video.. I love John's guitar sound and playing of course... DT Rules!!!
The Axe is placed after the pre-amp in the signal chain, so he'd be using it for reverbs and delays. In the pedal drawer he's got a selection of chorus, phaser, and flanger pedals along with the compressor (for cleans) and the two overdrives; those would all be placed before the pre-amp in the signal chain.
Let's be honest... he could just use the Axe-Fx II and sound exactly the same... or profile everything with a KPA... This looks like much more fun though :-)
Not at all, lol. This is an incredibly simple rig. I'm rather impressed with how much John is actually using. The Triaxis and the 2:90 run for about $900 each, the Axe runs for about $2500, he's probably got $1000 of pedals there, another $1000 for the Midi board, the splitter, and the furman. Oh and the Crybaby is about $600. He's running about an $18,000 rig.
Dude - you misunderstood... what he really meant was the mute switch is there in case JP accidentally goes into World Domination Mode cause that would "kill everything"...

Great video. Deceptively simple rig this time around!
Which toggle switch goes into world domination mode?
The one in Petrucci's head

Loved this video! All the best!!
Nice to see so much flexibility from such a simple rig.

He honestly doesn't even need the triaxis with the Axe FX I think..
He uses more modulation in front of the amp, as opposed to the fx loop than I expected.
wow...so very cool....
I have a question...:
The Triaxis Enters the fractal in serial?
So: out of the TA -> in of the AXE -> out AXE -> In 90/90?
If I recall correctly, the Triaxis has an effect loop. If so, the Axe-Fx would go there.

How do they connect ?
Maddi seems to be such a nice guy. I wish he could help me to find my sound!

he use overdrive in front of the amp ?
or in effect loop ?
Probably in front of the amp. Overdrives dont sound too great in the fx loop, imo.
The Draw full of Pedals plus wah-wah go into the input the Triaxs.
Very nice video. But the sound is very low!!!

So was the camera a dream?
this may sound dumb but no more Mark heads right?
My guess would be $50,000 worth of rack gear?

Caleb Kallander
Triaxis in USA is around 2k bucks and in Europe around 2,5k euros, so it's a bit over 900 bucks each.
Triaxis in USA is definitely not around 2k, lol. I've watched the market for years my friend.
+Caleb Kallander Wrong. You are looking at the used market. They are $1999.00 from Mesa and their dealers.
TLWiltman Right. I usually buy used. I can't afford to buy that kind of stuff new, so I watch the used market and get the same item for way cheaper.
He ate Petrucci?
No Mark V ? Now I understand why he has his vintage crappy live tone on this tour...
True. I did not like his tone at all on this tour.
It's so overly tempting:
1:17 Just hear what he says! I guess he just needs to listen to his master...
Dude - you misunderstood... what he really meant was the mute switch is there in case JP accidentally goes into World Domination Mode cause that would "kill everything"...
turbo tunna I think you misunderstood me - I meant that!
hahaha, just imagine you accidently push it... uppppsy... sorry^^
"ends up being a big splitter" --> HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Please invest in a microphone...
Let's try that red pedal that somebody's had )) EVH ))
