Pink Floyd is the best band of the Universe!!! What a ride! 💚💚
Multiverse. They are considered the best in every dimension and permutation of universes.
Cool reaction to one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. If heaven exists , those chords Rick Wright plays on the first part will be what you hear as you enter. Parts VI - IX is the last track on the album , and astonishingly good also.
In fact the entire album is a masterpiece.
We didn't have photoshop back in the 70's... They really set a man on fire!
This entire album references former band member Syd Barrett who dropped out suffering mental health issues and from the effects of drug abuse.
S hine on Y ou crazy D iamond, as well as Welcome to the Machine, and title track Wish You Were Here most directly reference Syd. The only other track, Have a Cigar, refers to the corporate music industry that contributed to Syds mental health decline. Needless to say, openly talking about Mental Health back then was even more difficult than it is today, and a bunch of 20 something year old musicians were clearly not capable of giving Syd the professional help he needed.
However what they did, was write about it. Not an easy thing, especially back then.
Pretty sure Roger said that the song Wish You Were Here wasn't about Syd, and that Shine On was the only song about him on the album.
@@jacobpaulson23 No mate, the whole album is literally inspired by Syd, the words 'wish you were here' were to Pink Floyd, defo about Syd. However it was meant for the listener to make it about whoever they wanted it to be about, so they tried to make it non specific. A bit like most of their songs, they were about someone or something personal to the members but always left open for interpretation.

Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a P.F. show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"...
I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen.
I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold.
David Gilmour gets more out of one note than most others get out of an entire song or even album. LEGEND.

Pink Floyd really is speaking to people in a universal language that is music...I mean we all can relate and understand what it's telling us. It's reframing perception with every note and re-expanding it with every silence.

The end of Parts one through five Shine On You Crazy Diamond Segways very smoothly right into a very futuristic sounding song even by today's standards called "Welcome to the Machine"! And it still sounds futuristic even though it was made in 1975 so I'm fairly sure Pink Floyd members are either from the future or a planet other than Earth!! You should listen to "Welcome to the Machine" but make sure you listen with headphones and put on a seat belt!!

A perfectly assembled malt! I wouldn't change a note. It shoots me to the dark side of the moon every time. And the lyrics - my God - that's so sad. The best thing Pink Floyd ever did... R.I.P. Rick.
More about the album cover photo: The cover was created by Studio Hipgnosis and the photo was taken at Warner Bros. film studios in California. Both men are stuntmen - Ronnie Rondell and a burning Danny Rogers - and they are indeed on fire. He's wearing fireproof clothing and wearing a hood with a wig on his head. At first the wind was blowing the wrong way and the flames got in Rondell's face and burned his mustache. Both stuntmen changed positions and the picture was later reversed. However, the album was sold in a black shrink wrap that had the logo of two mechanical hands involved in a handshake.
Maybe you may now understand us old folks comments of " You have no idea what real music is!", when speaking of some of todays "music". I'm so happy to see the younger generation appreciating what we grew up with. We were blessed, that's for sure.

In the day, we would twist one then cue up the vinyl and light up. The building of the song would contribute to the anticipation of the high. By the time the lyrics start we were in full flight. By the time the saxophone solos start …. Uh what were we talking about….
the floyd produced some of the best music ever along with some of the best Guitar solo's ever......music made for an altered state of mind... make of that what you will but trust me it's better that way.

For those who do not know where the name “Pink Floyd” came from…… Syd Barrett - original founder of the band had two favorite Blues Guitar Players in his record collection, two black men, Pinkney “Pink” Anderson and Floyd Council. One came from North Carolina, (Floyd) the other came from South Carolina, (Pink).

Well, If you wanna go to the max, that is if you think you're ready... Check out the studio version of "Echoes". It is a full 23 1⁄2 minutes long. But you won't feel it. You'll be flying/floating most of the time.
And Of course all versions of "Another Brick in the Wall" are on the same album: "The Wall".
And if you really want to level up, try 'Atom Heart Mother' (for advanced users only).

Then, pour another, woof that down too, then pour a third one and go turn off all the lights. Put THIS, or any Pink Floyd record on. The following Pink Floyd albums are Concept Albums (all songs together tell a complete story)... Dark Side Of The Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animals (1977) and The Wall (1979). The Final Cut (1983) is ify, as it was the last album with Roger Waters being in the band - leaving in 1985. *search on Wiki the album title to get the story behind the concept.

You may wanna check out the following tribute band!! "Brit Floyd" ~ Gilmour, Mason and Wright have said, "If they themselves wanted to see PF live, the only way that could ever happen is go see these guys."
Final Note: Pink Floyd have left us the embodiment of their musical journey to share, enjoy and reflect upon. * always listen to Pink Floyd with headphones or an awesome sounding music system.

I'd love to see your reaction to a bunch more Pink Floyd, because this was great. If you want more of that powerful mind experience achieved through music, you should also check out the band Tool - from them I would recommend starting with The Pot, because it's one of their few songs in which the beat is like a cruisy drive rather than a rollercoaster. But if you want to go zero-to-one-hundred, go for Tool - Lateralus and buckle up.

@@SimplyTwoDudes 👍🏼 Syd Barrett was the founder of the band. David Gilmour replaced him on guitar, although they did play as a 5 member band for a short while. David & Syd were very good friends and he made sure Syd got all of his royalties until he passed away.
You might wanna check out their song called Echoes, but Live from Gdansk. I think the video is called "last performance with Richard Wright" or something similar. It has a similar meditation vibe.
