Sure, the "real" shorts are higher, but all of those shares that the company issued have not gone the open market, they have been sold to short sellers like Citi, Antara and other so that they can replace the fake shares they sold us with real shares. Roughly speaking, between APE and the dilution that came after, they have been able to clean up aproximately 4B synthetics that were out there. Some Apes voted to turn this into a fundamental play when they agreed to the RS and conversion and there is no going back. AMC might become a $45-50 dollar company if they manage to become profitable within the next few years, but with so much dilution to keep the doors open, there is no way that we can have a gigantic squeeze like most of us expected. We no longer hold billions of fake shares that they need to buy from us...

It might be a stupid question, but if they could drop AMC down all the way from 70 dollars to few dollars and again from there to a couple of dollars after the revers split, why they don't drop it down from there to nothing and send it to OTC and/or bankrupt the company?
A stock price isnt a sole representative of the companies financials. IF they could do that they would’ve done it by now. Dropping it to 0, when AMC isnt financially bankrupt and keeps setting higher revenues would then draw too much attention to as why the stock was at 0 while still in business.
