This is the best metal drummer nowdays... He feels and shows style respect for old school drumming and full throttle for future!!!! Just go for it man!!!! Much respect from Serbian underground!!!!
I've spoken to Roy by private message and told me that he and Brooks Wackerman participated in the demos of "Down To Heart". But for reasons to Sharon, re-recorded tracks with Mike Bordin. I guess they were with Joe Holmes and Robert Trujillo.
@silentjay2. I dunno my friend, but I will be one of the first in line to buy when it comes out. Have you heard Comewhat(ever may) by Stone Sour. That has some of Roy's best drumming. Keep in touch.
@silentjay2. That is gr8 man. I wish I had a music background when I was young. But all my family are working class hard work types. I really admired that but I just wish I had someone who like me really loved and understood music. Whatever happends, I will still play the drums and love doing so. How did you get into playiing the bass? Was it to play with your Dad and borther or just to start out on your own?
@silentjay2 Well I don't own a kit at the moment. I sold my old kit. But my dream kit would be the Bruich/ Budgina kit. The same type of finish that Mike Portnoy has used on the most recent DT tour. It has a really cool black and sliver sparkle finish on it. I also use Paiste, Vic Firth and Dw Hardwear and pedals. What esle music wise do you want to talk about.
@paulwall1981 no prob man and i use an ibanez gaxb150 its not that good im currently saving up for a 5-string srx and i do not use a chapman stick. what make of drums do u use?
@silentjay2.I really uunderstand what your saying. I have been into the drums for about 20 years or so. Then one day I saw John Myung playing bass and thought that was really cool. So I tried and all though I am very good at it, I still think it's a brillant thing to do. How long have your Dad and borther being playing drums for between them. Keep in touch friend.
@silentjay2. I know keep in touch and thanks for spending time talking to me. Oh what type of bass do you play? What make and how many strings do you use? Also have use ever used a Chapman Stick? Which I know a lot of bass players use? Keep it real man.
@paulwall1981 well id always wanted to play an instrument and rather than just copy my dad my brother i thought try something different so i tried guiat and just didnt a gd vibe off it but then i started getting into korn and always wanted to know what made that weird noise that no other band really had and i later on found out that it was slap bass so i got into it through that and started learning about other styles and musicians. howd u get into drums?
in style, definitely - though on the Godsmack dvd Sully says other drummers copied the style of Shannon... I'm really curious ... how did Mayorga play during Amen and Ugly Kid Joe or even Glassjaw?
roy is one of my favorite drummers if ever heard him in soulfly he if fames for thrashing groove and tribal beats which is sick as hell btw is he still in stone sour? havent heard anything from them in a while
@silentjay2 Well I am glad we have so much in common as I love Stone Sour to. I hope you will keep in touch and we can talk more. Are you a drummer your slef? Plaese keep in touch.
@paulwall1981. Queen ealry 1970's Queen. Rush, The Poilce, DT, Yes, Focus, Thin Lizzy, whose sinnger plays bass to, as well as these I also like Steve Vai, Alan Holdswroth, Joe Statrini and Joe Bonamassa. What about you which bands and players do you like?
@silentjay2. My first real thought of playing the drums came when I first saw Roger Taylor from Queen play. Back when I was a kid I worshiped the ground he walked on. Then I grew more and more as a player and the rest is history. Some other drummers I like are Steve Gadd, Stewart Copeland, Mike Portnoy and Neil Peart. Have you subbed me yet I would really like to keep in touch and talk all things music. What do you say?
@paulwall1981 urmmmm well i think my dads been playing for 30 something years and my brothers been playing for im not sure actually probs about 8 years.
@ThexteraDrummer I'm a bit weird like that, the only Chinas I reeeeally like (with a couple of exceptions) are the Zildjian Oriental China trashes. Can you recommend any Sabian Chinas?
I love his style on the old Nausea records. The tribal drumming on Cybergod, Roy has always been impressive and has his own style
This is the best metal drummer nowdays...
He feels and shows style respect for old school drumming and full throttle for future!!!!
Just go for it man!!!!
Much respect from Serbian underground!!!!
So great to see him still playing! He brought some serious sound to Soulfly back when they started. I wish he was still there now with Marc Rizzo!
Roy Mayorga is amazing!
Hope to see him back here in Brazil...
Awesome footage by the way
Such an under-rated drummer.
Thanx, great song
Oh you know it! He's up there with Roy as one of my favorite drummers!
Roy is my fav. drummer!
In my opinion, he's one of the best there is
Roy is my fav. drummer! He is da man!!!
Roy debe volver a Soulfly y darle ese increíble sonido que explota de su técnica. #ROYGRANDE
Tal cual!!! De todas las formaciones que tuvo Soulfly. El sonido que le aportaba Roy era único!!!
Eso es correcto!
Love this video!! Love his technical!! Roy 🔥🔥🤘
I've spoken to Roy by private message and told me that he and Brooks Wackerman participated in the demos of "Down To Heart". But for reasons to Sharon, re-recorded tracks with Mike Bordin.

One of the few drummers with balls enough to hold the sticks backwards.

The hair style?
sick set man

lol i'm not surprised, sounds like something he'd do. what a legend.
in style, definitely - though on the Godsmack dvd Sully says other drummers copied the style of Shannon...

Good lord, who the hell is this guy!?!?
Statistic68 one of the greatest rock drummers alive!
I heard they were on a hiatus
and reading all comments: he does have things in common with Portnoy AND actually Bozzio :)
@paulwall1981 favourite bands?

It took me 2 months to find a china. Well worth it. Lots of noise at the music stores LOL. Later.
Is there an mp3 for this song?

Roy wasOzzy drummer in 2000
Anyone can tell me the name of this song?

wasent he in soulfly for a while?
@paulwall1981 urmmmm well i think my dads been playing for 30 something years and my brothers been playing for im not sure actually probs about 8 years.
Man he is awesome. In some part he starts moving like terry bozzio, specially the faces.
any1 else notice the terry bozzio influence??!
That stack below the crash sounds fantastic. Much better that Portnoy his signature.
@tamaassaulter6 present-day terry bozzio comes to mind...
Sounds like Sepultura Arise era. Team him up with Maxy and bring the Sep. back!
he didn't record 30/30-150, shannon larkin did
I LOVE Roy, one of my new favorite drummers.
Can't stand Sabian chinas though (and I PLAY Sabian before anyone accuses me of hating or anything)
@beeterolds Oh I know, I just happened to get a very lucky Christmas present of Sabian AAX's haha
he is a sabian endorser.
@ThexteraDrummer I'm a bit weird like that, the only Chinas I reeeeally like (with a couple of exceptions) are the Zildjian Oriental China trashes. Can you recommend any Sabian Chinas?
uma das minhas influencias o/
Is it me or Roy has a bit of a Shannon Larkin type of style. There are moments where I think its Shannon playing
@dakkar182 i thought so.
i see. still pretty cool all the same
Shit hot.
