Thanks Alex. Your videos are packed with amazing techniques and information that can be used immediately to make improvements all aspects of my golf game. My vote is for the #1 golf coach.
Perfect lesson! I was playing in Phoenix this past April on the Stadium course at TPC Scottsdale and Steven Alker was literally doing this with his wedges over and over. He could throw a blanket over the balls they were so close.
This is crazy; ive been bitten by golf a month ago. Been playing 3-5 times a week.. and just this morning i was drinking morning coffe and watching golf videos with the sun coming in before heading to the golftrack. Come upon this video, and for the first time i didn´t loose a ball all 9 rounds. I hit evry tee-shot like 7/10 times pretty damn good. This tutorial actullay worked!! lets goo thanks
Hi Alex, another great video. I’ve been occasionally struggling with this and had no idea how to fix it. Already went to the range today, but looking forward to trying this my next time out. Thanks again!
This will help a lot with the inconsistency I have from week to week. I am anxious to give this a try. Great simplistic way of breaking it down. Thanks for the video.
I saw you mention this swung a while back and started using it, what a huge difference this made for my swing and control. To me when I hit the ball pure, it feels like butter. My feeling is that I'm using my arms more than my hips with this swing. I'm concentrating on technique and control vs power, ( avg for 7 iron is 147yds) meaning as soon as I try and crush the ball, it then is left up to the golfing gods as to where is goes. What drill can I start working on to add in that power? Again great video, and stand by for 3w update from the range tomorrow! ( strike the match!)
My swing wasn't doing so well. No idea what I was doing wrong but I needed some help. Saw this video about the "L". Tried it the next day and shot one of my best rounds. Don't know why this works so well...but it does. My ball hit the flag stick on 2 approach shots! Thanks for sharing such great tips.
Hi Alex, great video again. This has brought it all back to me as I used to do a similar drill when I was younger and playing good golf but alas was lost in the sands of time. It was a drill by Sir Nick called the pre set drill 👍
@@AlexElliottGolf I tried it at the range right after watching your lesson..... YES it's helped my iron game substantially... my issue was always over swinging and my shot would go all over the place. This simple L shot improved my hits. Tysm Alex
Thx Alex. This is great. Does L shape work for driver swing? It should as the ball position and shoulder tilt should allow to still hit up on the ball. Any suggestions?
Hi Alex , your so blessed to be golfing still, here in Canada we got snow on the ground yesterday , courses are closed and will be untill April hopefully but probably May ...how many months do you get to play golf?
@@hoodlum1107 thats amazing , i never knew sweden had such fantastic golf weather. Maybe i will move there , i was looking at spain or portugal but there is no hockey there
@@CanadianBiPolarBear it's not as bad as people think, a bit rainy in the south of Sweden but some great courses. My home course is called Sjöbo, set in the forests of Skåne. Lovely course.
do you have tip to help to stay behind the ball at impact? I have a tendency in my backswing to go way too far where my upper body goes towards the target. Then on the through swing I am in front of the ball right through impact. Any tips?
Great vid Alex! The L is so important in the backswing, it have helped me so much with consistency. I have a request for next video, those mid-range wedge shots. Around 40-70 yards ones and distance control from there is a tough nut to crack. Do you have any tips for this?
Hi Alex. I feel this is half of a very good video. I really struggle to understand the downswing and follow through part of this L shaped swing. To create forward shaft lean how long do you ‘hold on’ to the L shape? It looks like in your practice swings down to the ball, your club and arms are straight at impact. Please can you do a Part B that explains the L shape down and through impact? So very confused…
Hi Andrew, I suggest you use a mirror or vid. Slowly go to the L in your backswing and hold. It should feel like you are pushing the club away so your lead arm is straight but not locked. I suggest using a chair or wall to rest your bum against. At the top of backswing you trail butt cheek should be on chair. The hard part is starting the downswing. Start with transfering weight to your lead leg as you bring the L down keeping your trail elbow in front of your pocket. Do slowly and stop at impact position. Lead bum cheek should be pushing back on the chair, hips open, club face square to ball, hands infront of ball (club delofted) but head still behind. Lead arm still straight and slight bend in trail arm so check wrists. If happy with impact position, move through making sure weight is on lead leg, trail arm stays under lead arm but hand comes over. When both hands have past your thigh then both arms will be straight, again feeling like you are pushing the club away. The finish is a L, mirror to top of backswing. I hope this helps, I practice L to L half swings all the time just for muscle memory and tempo then build up to full swing. Speed comes from wide arc, start of downswing and whipping through impact with trail hand coming over lead and keeping arc wide... Good luck.
Yeah you’re still the fucking man in terms of simple golf lessons. I’ve gotten soo much better after using your tips. Still waiting on the tip to get more lift on all my clubs though
My irons absolutely kill my game. They never go straight. They are straight and flawless at the range. Once I hit the course they love to draw and go left. Drives me mad. Hitting the green in reg is the key to lower scores and this I find is where my game goes stroke up
It always seems so easy when looking at you. but golf is NOT an easy sport. In fact, it's the most technical sport I've ever tried, and certainly the most frustrating of all. But, anyway, let's give it a try...
Not true, I consistently hit the ball better when my arms fold. My back does not go higher on my back swing and don't need to worry about cocking my wrists.
*Hi guys!! I hope you be all had a great weekend 🎉 I know this is the L SHAPE swing you have been waiting for*
I'm gona try it tommorw played 9 holes today
Hello Alex will Graphite shafts help me with my golf swing I have a low club speed at the moment
Hi Alex, what spot do you keep your eyes on when you use a driver, irons and putter
I will try this in my next comp at Altrincham GC..L SHAPE SWING, L SHAPE SWING,L SHAPE SWING- I'll be repeating in my head
I notice the down, out, and up of the hands in the swing. This produces a strong strike and great follow through. Nice one Alex.

Simple and easy to remember. Good stuff!
I think this is the swing I’ve been looking for

Try choking down on you club to vary distances.
Alex, where are you looking when you strike the ball? The back of the ball, the front of the ball or a spot out in front of the ball?
Back of the ball
