After roughly six months of working on this project on and off and having to backtrack several times due to finding new tricks or faster routes, the first ever TAS for this game has been complete! The time shown in the title uses TAS timing, which starts upon booting up the game and ends with the last input. With RTA timing, which starts when you gain control of Woody in Train Rescue and ends after the final textbox fades out, and with the slideshow cutscenes timed to their intended speed (because the slideshow cutscenes run slowly in this run for some reason), the run clocks in at roughly 35 minutes and 55 seconds. This is an insane time, considering how not even a year ago it was considered near impossible to beat the game in under an hour.
If you're confused on what a TAS is, it is basically a playthrough of a videogame done in an emulator using special tools, such as savestates and frame by frame advances. With these tools (and many more!), you can replay sections of a game until you have a desired result, and then the emulator will play this desired recording back as if it were being done in real time. When making a TAS, sections of the game are optimized and played repeatedly until they are as perfect as possible, making for a very fast paced, entertaining display of how quickly a game can be beaten theoretically. Keep in mind that TASes are just demonstrations, they are not actual speedruns!

Very easy to explain it’s because woody is not supposed to be in this area the character that’s supposed to be there is buzz so it glitches out

@@primalpistolI think more specifically it’s because Woody’s model gets replaced with Buzz’s model during that section which leads to Woody’s textures going all over the place as they try to fit in relative to the Buzz model. It happens when you try to rescue ham as woody as well, since normally you do that with Buzz. I don’t know any way to actually prove tho it so I’m just gonna go with he got torn up by a shredder bc it’s funnier lol

I actually did want to make a TAS for the 100% speedrun of this game someday, and that does require you to beat all playmats. I’ve always liked coming up with strategies for playtime, so I can imagine that being fun to optimize!
