@@ThingsAboutThem YOUR REPLY CONCERNING THE MIGHTY DELLS IS SO GRATEFULLY APPRECIATED 👍! I'M 81 YEARS OLD NOW AND WHEN I LISTEN TO THEM IT TAKES ME BACK TO ALONG TIME AGO WHEN I WAS A YOUNG MAN AND THE MEMORIES I HAVE CANNOT BE TAKEN FROM ME. "STAY IN MY CORNER" I'VE LISTENED TO THE SONG SO MANY, MANY TIMES AND EVERY TIME I LISTEN TO THAT SONG ITS LIKE THE FIRST TIME I HAVE EVER HEARD IT. ITS ASTONISHING TO ME THAT ANY VOCAL GROUP COULD SING THAT GOOD 👍. I CAN ONLY COME TO ONE CONCLUSION THAT IT WAS A GIFT FROM ALL MIGHTY GOD FOR THEIR FANS TO LISTEN AND ENJOY THE MIGHTY DELLS. In 1972-3 I played tenor sax in their backup band, the Nickel Bagg. We in the band lived in Harvey, Markham nd Phoenix IL and went to Thornton HS where the Dells also graduated from. It was a fun, unforgettable experience to perform with these men, and I'm still playing years later!
I'm from Dixmoor and went to Thornton from 1972 thru 1976...As a kid, one year The Dell's purchased our uniforms for the Dixmoor Little League...When in town sometimes they would come to a game or two in a convertible Cadilac...Great Memories
I grew up in Harvey and went to TTHS too. I used to go over to Johnny Carter's house all the time to play with his niece who was always there. I always respected the Dells because they were from Harvey but even when they got to be so famous, they never left. They remained living in modest homes in Harvey. That was a big deal to me.
Listen to "Stay in my corner" and tell me how long he held that note !!! I ❤❤❤ The Dells, my favorite group, know all the words to all the songs ! Just can't sing like them but then again who can ??!!!😉
There will never, ever be any Singing Group that can even come close to the Mighty DELLS! It is my belief, and I'm entitled to my belief that the Mighty DELLS are UNPARALLELED! As they pass away I'm almost sure their Singing for Almighty God who BLEST them as Angels Sing! Now, their singing for their Creator for all Eternity. As Always, God Bless You and Yours! Their music was the soundtrack of my early years. Although I never became a singer, I pretty much have all their voices down, mainly the lead singer, who can hold those notes so long. Wow their music was pure magic in my adolescence years.
Thank you. I was getting ready to post the truth, but I said somebody else had probably already posted what I was going to say. Some folks like being down with us but my thing is at least take the time to get it right.
The Dells did a concert play Thornton High School in Harvey Illinois I love the fan instantly what are the members Mikey McGill whose mother sold Watkins products back in the day I would love to hear her talk about her son she was very proud of him, one morning someone was knocking on the door and it was Vern Ellison 🎉one one of the members of the Dells he came over to pick up my dad and they they went to go play golf.
This is horrible, you people have Chuck Barksdale and Marvin Junior mixed up. Chuck Barksdale is the bass baritone and Marvin Junior was the falsetto.. Google, you guys keep getting this thing wrong. Get some black people in the room please
Marvin Junior was decidedly NOT singing falsetto, cousin. Johnny Funches and then Johnny Carter to replace him in the group, sang falsetto. I’m a 68 year old white woman and even I know that.

One of the greatest R&B groups. Ps Johnny Carter was a First Tenor, not a Baritone.
Thank you. I don't know where they got baritone from.
Rest in peace ♥️
Great Group
My top five group
Johnny Carter was a tenor and falsetto singer.

The Greatest Vocal of all-time
A great great group
Johnny Carter "baritone voice"? He was the top tenor and falsetto!
Johnny could really sing❤❤❤❤🎉🎉
I like that album they did with The Dramatics. Love is missing from our lives is a masterpiece.
Johnny Carter was a Tenor, and his falsetto was top notch.

You should delete this comment, it’s embarrassing! Everyone knows Marvin Junior was the bass baritone in the group. 🤦🏽♀️
