It brings me so much Joy seeing another great steam locomotive restored and preserved for the future generations. Steam locomotives are one of my favorite things In the whole world.
Really great to see 2926 alive and well, what a beautiful machine. We are definitely in an amazing period of steam revival. 2926 represents one of the few surviving and operating fully modern steam engines along with the N&W J. She has roller bearings, centralized lubrication, one piece cast frame, hollow cast disc drivers, Timken lightweight roller rods, and just about every modern thermal conservation device applied to a steam locomotive. Technologically, these rank right up there with the NYC Niagara. There's a lot of great surviving modern steam out there but very few are this state of the art. Can't wait to see her running out on the main line. Truly some of Baldwin's finest work on display here Now if we can just all figure out how to get 1218 running again and an ATSF 2-10-4 I'd be happy.
Hi, DTJ. HEY!! YOU WANT A ATSF 2-10-4!! Way up North in Green Bay at the National Railroad Museum we have 5017, since 1959, mostly stored in the McCormick Pavillion, but also several years outside from 1959 to 1972. Then in the Pavillion, until 1987 when it was outside again because those former managers wanted to build a new section of a Roundhouse, but Never Did!! And they got fired. Then 5017 was outside again for 14 years. Until 2001 and the next groups of managers put it back inside, and they also had it sandblasted and repainted, but some body really messed up the letters and numbers. Luckily, 5017 may still be repaired. Hi in May 2023A.D.
Likely it won't. The landscape of what it takes to get trackage rights to run these things changed dramatically in the 20 years it took them to restore it.
What a fantastic sight that it is to see ATSF 4-8-4 type 2926 back in operation again, hopefully there will be planned passenger excursion trips scheduled for later this year. I would also really enjoy to see a reunion meeting between the 2926 and the 3751 at some point in the future.
2926 really needs a slipping test with greasy rails, and I saw a old black and white movie about ROCK ISLAND RR, testing their 4-8-2 Mountain, on greasy rails, and throwing out sparks like the FIREBALL EXPRESS!!!!! WOW!!!!! KOOOOOL!!!!! HI IN MAY 2023A.D!!!!!
You all have put in a terrific effort to restore this fabulous locomotive! She truly is a work of art. Thank you so much for bringing her back to life.
I'll think of going to see the 2926 again. But I might get chapped lips from going there. Oh, and imagine if she had Auxiliary tenders for long distance trips.
Congratulations to the crew what a heartwarming moment so happy to see this locomotive under power and moving congratulations 🎉 to everyone involved so looking for the mainline videos and test runs ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Sounds like music to my ears!!! I’ve got a few songs that have train mimicking music, with harmonica, steel guitar, acoustic & electric guitar, drums, etc. I need to find a train song that features real train sound!
She really looks good in her shiny new paint, but I wish they would put on the finishing touches. Give her a "manicure" by painting whitewalls on her wheels and tender wheels.
It is great to see another historic steam locomotive restored back to operating condition. This is the first run on the rail road tracks in many years. Obviously the steam locomotive is being tested for any problems. Eventually this locomotive will need a longer break in run.
Hats off to the crew for a job well done! I hope BNSF will allow you guys mainline runs, given that 2926 is more than capable of track speed operation. Plus being a direct ancestor to modern day BNSF they cant really claim shes not a predecessor locomotive.
IT IS FOR BETTER KEEPING SMOKE OUT OF FORWARD MOVEMENT WHERE THERE IS NO OVERHEAD OBSTRUCTIONS! IN ITS DAYS OF SERVICE THERE WERE SHOP DOOR TOO LOW TO ACCOMMODATE ENTRANCE, ALSO SOME LOW PASSENGER SHEDS! LOL OCCASIONALLY THEY HAD INCIDENTS WHEN SOMEONE FORGOT TO LOWER THE STACK!
She’s been restored for a little while now, arnt they just wasting tube time by not having her out somewhere yet? Not trying to be insulting just a genuine question
When the locomotive crossed the 8th street crossing many volunteers including my self were brought to tears.
Nice :3
NMSL&RHS that day was 23 years in the making, and yeah it had me crying.
@@tatecarlson Of course. :)
"She lives and breathes again!", am I right?
@@mechasaurus Of course :)
You are right on that. ;)

I donated to them for years, I'm since retired on a fixed income and can't help any more. So glad to see this!
It was a great day for the 2926 crew of volunteers. Hats off to them!

Reading & Northern did a great job on their T1 2102. I pulled freight and excursions all last summer.
Don't forget UP 844
I know the CSX CEO, and I’ll definitely show him this
Beyond thrilled to see this beauty back on the rails!! A magnificent restoration job!! Bravo to you all!!
Some great footage! loved watching it go by! Had a 10' tall shipping container platform to watch it from! fun watching everyones videos!
Wonderful new, indeed! Tears of joy!
Let's hope 2926 will be able to do the true test: Getting on the mainline for the first time in many, many, MANY years! :D
from what i here the mainline will only be New Mexico state owned track
@@devernepersonal3636 Meaning...? :3
@@jimmyhook4852she'll likely get a run on the mainline, but probably nothing outside the state of New Mexico where she is
@@_cyan4657 Alright :)
True... but I have heard that they are looking at an invite to visit the Grand Canyon Railway. ;)

Can't wait to see it paired up with 3751. Man those Santa Fe Northerns are gorgeous!
Double header!
Magnificent restoration of this beautiful steam locomotive. Congratulations to all of the people who made this happen.
That is one gorgeous peace of steam machinery. Can’t substitute the sounds and smells of hot steel, oil and steam.
Boilers Officer USN.
Sweet. Very sweet.
wow!! so fast, looks like it blew some hats off too! jokes aside, this is a really cool video!
Beautiful locomotive.
Hooray!!
ATSF #2926 is back to steam after a restoration and could do excursions on the mainline. Welcome ATSF #2926. Tractor Brewing company and back again.

That ATSF 6 chime sounds amazing at 300 psi!
What a beauty!

Nice to see her restored and well cared for. Steam has always been and remains alive and well. Thank you ALL.
Good video
Roller bearings, modern, oil fired, she's gorgeous! BNSF needs to run her system-wide!
Please!!!
I would like to see it and 3751 on the Cherokee Subdivision.
Waited so long for this moment.vall our work now it paid off. #290 .more to come go 2926.

That is awesome news!
The group has done a superb job with 2926. Let's hope they get to see the mainline soon!

3:16 look at the locomotive’s funnel for a magic trick
TURNTABLE!!-! NEXT TRIP. OK!!-!
Would it be awesome to see 2926 double head a train along with 3751 since it got restored too?
(3:24 that person got steam blown at him/her)
She is a handsome lady to be sure.

I wonder if the Madam Queen will ever be started back up again.
JUST WOW AND CONGRATS TO THE BUILDERS BECAUSE ABQ DOESN'T FINISH ANYTHING IT STARTS!!!
You named your dog Zephyr? THAT'S KOO-OL!!!
What?
Enjoy😂🎉
Sounds like 261, 6325 and 765
Is it a Baldwin? No acorn on the top of the bell, and that's a trademark of Baldwin.
It’s time to get’er out on the high iron and feed ‘er lots of rail.
Can someone explain to me the purpose behind its smokestack being able to extend and retract like a pantograph?

Yes , looking for signals 🚦@ 90mph+ through smoke would be very difficult
Silly question- why does the smoke stack extend & retract?
Be nice to see a refurbished operating GG-1
...a part... ...wHether... (at 10:54)
This was just a test run right?
In some ways.... yes. :) It can also be described as a shakedown run. :3
After all... here's hoping she can get on the mainline soon. ;)
@@jimmyhook4852 that make sense
@Amtrak121 no its not a test run. It's her short but official inaugural run. She's done several tests in the past
@@adventuresofamtrakcascades301 those were just test FIRE-UPS, not actual test runs

Pretty sure they cant as of yet, mainline track not accessible, plus they need to fix the turntable in albequerque
The society is working with the state of New Mexico to operate excursions on NMDOT tracks.
