Coal Plant Prep & Planning | Satisfactory 1.0 - EP 4

- Welcome to the fourth episode of a long series playing Satisfactory 1.0 full release.
I started a fresh, no mods save and have Lumen enabled. My entire playthrough will have two phases. The first phase will be beginner friendly and go into detail on how to get the most out of the game and how to plan your factories. For the second phase, when we reach the mid game, we will shift focus to my playthrough theme, which will be a cyberpunk city.
I also plan on building a replica of the Tyrell Corporation pyramids from Blade Runner in the Dune Desert for my nuclear plant. I've never built nuclear in Satisfactory so it should be fun. This is going to be a long journey, thanks for joining me!

Going through the process of watching your videos currently. And after watching countless Satifactory videos, I feel comfortable in saying that you're my favorite for Satifactory content. You're showing almost the full entirely your process and how you set things up, while explaining your reasoning, instead of showing a sped up time-lapse and moving on without any discussion. As someone who's been playing since the beginning, it's so refreshing to see someone who is taking the time to explain for new players coming in.
I'm tryin! lol Appreciate the feedback. ITs a work in progress. Sometimes I'm editing these videos and think to myself "man I should have explained more". I know I'm improving my livestreaming skills over time so I'll get there. I'm glad that my goal of focusing on helping newer players is coming through though. Thanks for watching!
I just want to thank you for making these videos. I am going through these while playing Satisfactory for the first time and I really enjoy learning about the game here. Amazing content and the game presentation. Well done!
Thank you.
Just wanted to say you're my favorite Satisfactory channel to watch (both on RUclips and Twitch). I watch others, of course, but I always look forward to your live streams and instructional videos.
Thank you. Glad you're enjoying them.
made a giga coal factory on that lake u where on for your coal. i got 48 coal generators fitted on that lake. 3.600 MW was a nice and clean build. Thanks for that beautiful spot u gave me there.
Glad I could help. 😀
I love you chill style of editing. Not a bunch of rapid fire cuts. Hope it’s cool that I borrow some of your brain for my factory. ❤
Thanks. I work hard on the videos to make sure they are chill. 😀
And borrow away.
'This woman....' (ADA) - she's not only fun. She is fun fun fun. :D
I like her emotional side especially when she starts flirting wirh Mercer Spheres.
This 'smaller' vids Good breakdowns of your live streams. I still sneak in both versions. There are some neat ideas even for more experienced players. For example I had a similar version of your bio-recycler in mind. I realized mine in a more compacted version with one of my older 4x4 blueprint with some tweaks.
Yea. A lot of people have let me know they really love these edited down versions. I'm trying to commit myself to making them happen. I'm still livestraming more material than I can get through, but I'm trying lol.
I'm glad you're finding value in them.
For each 8 Coal Gens you use 3 Water Ext on close loop and it's perfect....you connect the 3 ext on a piece of straight pipe and connect 4 from the left and 4 from the right and have them join on a pipe splitter in the middle (closed system loop and the water Ext never stop running and the Gens are always full.... do 2 of the closed systems on 8 each and you never have to think about it again period....
Right, I know all that and thats how I did mine in my prior playthrough. But I wanted to use this simple coal/water setup as an example of the types of ways I use fluids when I do more complicated setups like fuel. Plus, I didn't have as much room as I wanted for the extractors so I just overclocked em.
But I agree, it can 100% be done the way you described.
My first coal gen plant was in the Grassy Fields, using the pond there. My pipes are ugly but go down in elevation a bit, so no pumps. Ended up with 6 coal gens per pipe, 12 total. My thinking was max number of generators per pipe. Then after I watched your video, I built my second power plant at the lake. Did things a bit differently, 2 extractors into a pipe into 5 generators times 3, so 15 generators in all. In this way, I have slightly more coal going into the plant than gets used. This ensures that each generator will eventually fill up with coal. Now, I can interrupt the coal for a while, if I decide to redo the belts or mines, and not have the power go down. If you do exact feeding, it is possible that if coal is interrupted, the power may start failing very quickly. Personally, increasing the reliability of the plant to survive coal interruptions is worth having one less generator. Two water generators, at full flow, into each pipe is also a bit of overkill, so the plant can survive water interruptions (but not as long as coal interruptions), so I did not under-clock the water generators. The fluid buffers also help. I never would have done it this way if I hadn't learned how to plan it, by watching your videos. Thank You!
You're welcome! This is really my goal with taking the time to show the process. What's important to me will be different than what's important to you, so if I can give you the tools, then you can design it in a way that works for you.
I like the idea of extra coal, its like a physical backup battery, a bit of safety. Combining these coal plants with some power storage is the real MVP move here. I ended up building backup power storage a few vods later from this video.
I'm glad you're getting value out of my videos.
I actually turned all of the nodes down in that valley into coal power. With overclocking Mk. 1 miners you can extract 480 coal, which powers 32 generators.
That was the first time I said "right, power is sorted for a long time now" - oh, how naive I was...
I know....lol
Perfect timing. I'm intimidated by this plateau--coal power. I need the help.
Its not too tough, just work through the problem slowly. Big take away is you build them in a ratio of 8 coal plants to 3 water extractors. Join my discord, we have a good community that will answer your questions there.
@@Kinstruction Not that it matters, but the optimal built for Coal Power with Mk. 1 pipes is this:
Take 8 Power Plants and feed them with 120 coal per minute, that's the easy part as it is a full Mk. 2 belt.
Then you connect all of them together with ONE pipe. Now, this needs 360 water - but it consumes consecutively. So if you stick one pump on one end of the connecting pipe and two on the other, it works perfectly fine.
In short:
Water extractor, then 8 coal gens, then 2 water extractors IN THAT ORDER on one Mk. 1 pipe.
Nice round even numbers, no over or underclocking, no power spikes. Perfect!
I agree. Mostly want I wanted to do here is use the water setup as a super safe way of running liquid that would be garunteed not to have any issues, even if it's overbuilding a little.
That way someone could take the idea and apply it to thier oil factory later.
In short, I wanted to show safe liquid techniques more than the most efficient coal technique, if that makes sense.
How many end-game elevator items/m are you going for ? 10/m ? 8/m . I build backwards . Enjoy your builds .
Not sure. Haven't decided yet.
When is the next episode? :D
As soon as I can finish the edit lol.
@@Kinstruction You're really fun to watch, you explain everything in the simplest way possible. Keep it up :D
I will!
Please go slow. Enjoy the game.
Speed running a game like this means missing out on so much.
Umm...you should watch his other videos to avoid making yourself look even more foolish.
Yes, I agree. I will. I'm tempted to speed things up, but long run, I think it will be more fun and better content if I take my time.
@@Aitch-102 No one is talking about old videos.
@@mephInc I am, do you need glasses?
I think we're all on the same page. I plan on taking my time.
