As a small boy I loved Jimmy Edwards. I loved the film Bottoms Up and was a big fan of Whack-O on tv when we boys knew all about getting whacked at school. The film The Plank remains a favourite of mine to this day. It was nice to see a representation of his DFC medal carved into the top of his gravestone. Rest in peace Jim. Always loved. Never forgotten.
Jimmy`s Dakota caught fire over Arnhem and it was only his exceptional airmanship which brought the aircraft down in a desperate landing during which he was severely burned. He was riotously funny playing a version of himself in every role. His secret life, cushioned by alcohol, left him a rather unfulfilled and sad individual in later years. If he had his detractors (and who doesn`t ?) let it never be forgotten that he was a distinguished and courageous member of the Greatest Generation who brought joy to millions. In the early 1970`s I saw him on the stage in a small provincial theatre and remember seeing his white Jaguar XJ6 automatic parked outside. RIP Jimmy...and thank you.
Loved Jimmy Edwards as a kid growing up, and I still enjoy his movies today just as much; favourites include, "Nearly a nasty accident" and "Bottoms Up!"
Jimmy Edwards, part of my youth & the radio, my father adored Jimmy in particular the beer tap contained within the school trophy... Thanks yet again... RIP dear Jimmy.
Jimmy Edwards was a wonderful talented actor with a magnificent moustache, I adored him in Take It From Here, probably my favourite radio series, he was one of those talented people we so deparately needed to get us back to joyous living in the post war years, I can still hear him shouting up the stairs to Alma Cogan "mother"!!!! & her wonderful 'strangled' reply that only he understood. Bless you Shar for another wonderful tribute. X
Thank you so much - I agree! And Alma Cogan was amazing too! Thank you so much for your lovely comment - I’ve been out of action for a couple of months and I’m trying to catch up! I appreciate your support! ❤️

"Wacko" (you couldn't use a title like that now) . was a topical show. I recall in one episode a young actor , in the show, had a black face. and Jimmy's character remarked " you look like you've been Lumummbed" ( not sure of spelling) ( named after and African president of the day.) A racial remark like that today would get banned, fined and the station the same.Greetings from Australia.
I loved Jimmy Edwards. I also love your site. You are an absolute lady and your posts are so well written. Many thanks for the joy you bring to everybody and your generosity of flowers. Bravo
I remember seeing Jimmy Edwards and Eric Sykes on the Parkinson show. I hadn't taken much notice of Jimmy to that point but they literally had me rolling around the floor laughing. When Parky had to wind it up Edward's said, "Can't you just keep it going and tack it onto next week's show?" I wish they had!
My mum and dad were strict Methodists and thought Jimmy was very common and rude and as such whenever he appeared on TV the set was switched off!! Of course I never felt that way about him. Love all your videos. It's like a walk along memory lane for me and memories come flooding back. All these people were with me as I was growing up and it's great that they're remembered.
Thank you so much! And thank you for watching! It’s very appreciated! I love going back in time - when I’m researching it brings back memories for me too and it’s live to escape into their stories! I can imagine your parents weren’t impressed with Jimmy 🤣❤️
Thank you for this video. I loved listening to the Glums on the radio when I was a child and you have brought back old memories. It is sad to see so many humble gravestones - I feel as though these great entertainers deserve much grander memorials. Thank you for always leaving roses when you visit these places. I wonder if any recordings of The Glums still exist. I’d like to listen to them all over again. > > Come here Eth. > > Oh Ron! > > Now now! What’s going on here?
They do!!! I listen on Spotify when I’m out in the car 😄 I love them! I agree with you about the headstones - although it’s lovely to be able to visit with flowers - so many of the old stars were scattered! Thank you so much for your lovely comment! It’s very much appreciated xxxx
I really loved Whack-O it was Great old school humour and My Dad also loved the show. I remember In 1981 I was in a pub (The Golden Sheaf) in Sydney and noticed Jimmy Edwards sitting at a table with a woman having a meal. I was with a Mate who was originally from Dorset and spoke with a thick West Country accent, We both had long bushy beards and Later Jimmy came up to the bar and started a conversation with us and He mimicked My Mates Dorset accent and My Aussie accent and we talked and laughed for about about 30 minutes it was like being in a comedy sketch and He was such an Amazing natural Comedian and a very down to earth friendly guy.
This is so lovely!!! Thank you so much for sharing your story of meeting Jimmy! It’s always so lovely to hear when celebrities are genuinely warm and friendly! Thank you for watching too! Much appreciated xxxx
My grandad took me to see JE when I was about 8, I think it was a kids show, I collapsed and was helpless with laughter as he ad libbed while trying to set up a music stand that wouldn't stay up. I was literally on the floor in the front row, he came over with the stand to where I was and kept going with the hilarious ad lib til I was nearly dead. Never forget it. Great character and voice. Imagine if he had been on audio books reading funny stories.
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre @jeffocks793 I found this brilliant clip of Jimmy appearing on Terry Wogan's TV show not long before he died, there's a very funny trombone routine where he knocks his stand over ruclips.net/video/HiL-uC9UlJ0/видео.html
Just came across this story!! Loved thus piece! I am 70 now and can still remember Jimmy in Wacho!! As a boy l had "happy times" sitting watching him on our television B/white!! WHY Don't they bring it Back!!
Another excellent video. When I was a kid for some reason I’d confuse Jimmy Edwards with James Robertson Justice, maybe it was due to their strong characters & facial hair 🤔
He was a filmic and TV presence in my growing up. Playing the characters he did, put him in The Establishment which means it was easy not to like his characters, rather than the actor himself, whom few knew.
Not Marmite to me, liked him in many things, particularly The Plank! Never knew he was gay until another one of your brilliant videos informed me, Many thanks as usual! Keep up the good work! Two of my heroes are Michael Flanders and Donald Swann, if you have ever heard of them!
Hi Stewart - I'm so sorry for this late response! Thank you so much for your comment - II had to google the names - I wasn't sure but I do vaguely recognise them - will be reading up I can assure you! xxx
Absolutely fantastic actor, great story about Jimmy. Thank you, I absolutely loved watching Jimmy, and I love watching the plank with some many great stars. Once again, thank you for all the time you spent investigating so many great stars 🌟 🌟💐💐
Jimmy was part and parcel of my childhood tv shows.Always found him funny.Just wish some of my teachers were the same as him. Never knew about his wartime exploits especially at Arnhem, which i visited frequently while stationed in Germany.
Jimmy Edwards was a comedic legend who made people laugh for generations. Learning about his wartime experiences, like at Arnhem, adds depth to his story and it's so lovely how your visit to Arnhem connects to his history. Thank you so much for your comment and for watching the video xxxx
I was an engineer on the type of aircraft he flew (C-47 Dakota) and in the mid 80's he was invited to fly as P2 (Co-pilot) in our Dakota. I flew with him and our captain during an airshow at North Weald Essex, I did notice that he had been drinking but luckly our captain was in control.
I've only recently discovered Jimmy Edwards as Pa Glum in " Take it from here." I think he is excellent in the show, as they all are and wish I could hear more of the Glums. They are rather lovable ! There are some clips of him doing a comedy sketch with musical instruments which is very good. I can't imagine anyone not liking him !
Oh I totally LOVE The Glums! I think Jimmy was quite a character and rather controversial by todays standards in both his political aspirations and his love of fox hunting - I look at him only as an entertainer and in the context of his era - but sometimes it’s forgotten that what isn’t acceptable today was just a regular way of life decades ago xx
I do understand - I try and keep things like that separate from their career when I'm researching people, partly because I think what isn't acceptable today was back then - so I can't judge in the context of the present day but I can say it's not something I would ever condone - politics wise - he stood as a conservative candidate - which for some people would of course be a great thing and for others not so!
Another fascinating video, what a discovery you are! I never realised until now that Jimmy was gay. I for one loved his acting, real old school brash stuff, which I really enjoy in these woke times. Thanks again, until next time 😀
🤣 yes I enjoy it too! It was good fun - years ago I studied literary criticism at university and it always fascinated me how different students and tutors would analyse and read a text - making their ideas of what the author was thinking into fact! Very interesting and very pretentious 🤭 I just thoroughly loved Jimmy’s acting too! I do think it was sad that Jimmy felt he couldn’t be who he was publicly - that’s one positive thing about now days ❤️ Thank you so much for for watching! 🌹
Great fun entertainer... I remember him since the early days, even in cartoon strips. R.I.P. Jimmy. My father a docker was in London on strike when Jimmy got cheers and thumbs up from all the Dockers, then someone said he's a Tory MP!... but still the cheering went on. So I have to agree a larger than life character.
Your videos are so interesting and I learn something every time. That is the kindest gesture you bestow on 😊our beloved celebrities by placing flowers on their graves. On their behalf I say Thankyou.
Thank you so much for your comment! I’ve just got in after another visit - just sat down with a cup of tea and your comment has made me very happy! Thank you! ❤️
We where in England and went in for pub grub and by lucky chance who walked in was Jimmy Edwards it turned out it was his local Jimmy was a great actor may he rest in peace
As a child I would help him with his polo ponies at Ham Polo Club and at Windsor. I just loved him. I'm now 73 and I still have the polo ball he and Prince Phillip hit at the same time and it spilt in half!!?
Dear Beautiful Shar.....Another respectable and knowledgeable post.... You should show your face more often....with your lovely voice...its a perfect match with your beautiful smile...please take care of your amazing smile and I hope you'll have a good and productive and safe day...Very warm wishes to you from me ❤❤❤

Thanks due to this show for furnish little pieces of unrealised info. about celebs. of the past and happy and sad memories of them, although we’ve all got finish up that way sometime.
Grew watching Jimmy, he even had a page in one of the comics whacko if my memory serves. If I have it muddled I am not worried, he was funny respect to a comdy hero
Thanks for your comment! You’re right; Jimmy Edwards was quite a comedy legend. He did have a presence in comics like Whacko, which added to his widespread appeal. It's great to hear he made such an impression on you. His humour and talent are certainly deserving of respect. xxxx
As a young man I loved his slap stick humour especially his sketches as a school teacher, Just one of his many one liners that I remember, "By pagi nini, sorry I mean page nine"
I met Jimmy when I was stationed at RAF Lyneham in the early 1980's , when he paid a visit to the place where he was stationed many years previously . He was a jovial and polite man .
I remember Jimmy Edwards telling a story about Arnhem. With the German fighters wings twinkling before he was advised that the twinkling was actually tracer rounds being fired at him. A great comedian
I went to a show with Jimmy and Roy Castle and laughed so much that I thought I had broken a rib I was in so much pain The show became a contest of one liners coming so fast that you hadnt finished laughing at one before they delivered another Both comedians were talented brass instrument musicians and competed in the show musically Definately the funniest man I have ever seen
That sounds like an absolutely hilarious experience! Jimmy Edwards and Roy Castle must have been an unstoppable comedic duo, combining quick-witted one-liners with musical talents to create an unforgettable show. It's amazing how laughter can bring both joy and a bit of pain sometimes, 😅 but it's all worth it for moments like these. Thank you for sharing your memorable experience! xxxx
I remember him on tv. thought he played the policeman in the plank really well. Didn't no about him being a pilot in the war etc really interesting, really like your videos you take the time to look into there background and that makes it more interesting, its a pity you dont do more of them.
Thank you so much for your comment! You’ve mad my day! Yes! He was very heroic during the war! And a truly talented comic - The Plank is a classic! Great fun! I’ve got more lined up - I love making the videos - I’ve spent for as long as I can remember being interested in the lives of these people! It makes me happy to hear you’ve enjoyed the video! Thank you!
I truly appreciate that! I just thoroughly enjoy researching into the lives of these amazing people - so when other people like yourself enjoy the stories too it makes it all worthwhile - thank you!
"Bend over Wendover!" Lovely video for one of Britains genuine one off larger than life originals, there will only ever be one Jimmy Edwards just as there will only ever be one James Robertson Justice and one Brian Blessed. In his headmaster role he made a hilarious film called Bottoms Up, featuring a young upstart called Wendover played by John Mitchell, who just a a few years later would find himself playing drums for a young upstart called Jimi Hendrix.
He was absIolutely a larger than life character - I didn't know that about 'Wendover' thank you for the information!!! And thank you so much for your comment and for watching xx
I remember Jimmy in Sir Yellow on Sunday lunch time TV learly 70s.. I can't remember much about it apart from being a bit slapstick. I liked it at the time, I'd love to see it again.
Take it from here is the prog. from which I best remember Jimmy. With the perfect sscript writing pair he was the dominant funny man on the prog. and made me laugh as I listened to Frank and Denise’s wonderful scripts portrayed by the cast on my crystals set in the dormitory after “lights out” in a Dr. Barnardoes home. Wonderful fun memories of Jimmy.
I have listened to some of these episodes - thoroughly LOVE them! Still so funny after all these years! This is why I enjoy living in the past so much 🤭xxxx
I see u liked my earlier comment about Jimmy Edwards & Marjoree Proops on BBC radio, 'Does The Team Think.' So here's another story from that show. Any mention of a musical instrument, and Jimmy would exclaim, ''I used to play a musical instrument - a Euphonium. People ask what the word means. It's from the Latin y'know, 'Yew-wotta-shokin-phony-um-noise.'' I wd hv been about 6 yrs old at the time, and the BBC Home Service gave me a glimpse into another world. Violet Bonham Carter, Ted Ray, Lord Boothby, Jimmy Edwards, was the usual panel. If u like this story, I have another.
🤣🤣🤣 Ohhhh I adored Andrew Ray (you reminded me mentioning his father Ted) - absolutely loved him! Can’t think about Lord Boothby without thinking of Ronnie Kray and Lady Dorothy 🤭
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre I've never heard of Andrew Ray. Anyway, in the absence of a No, I'll take yr answer to my question as a Yes. Here's the story. Someone asked the 'Does The Team Think' panel a question about poetry. Ted Ray jumped right in, saying a lot of people don't know the difference between poetry and prose. I can still hear his voice in my head as I write. 'It's like this,' he said. 'I'll give u an example with these lines' : 'I took my girlfriend to the river, and we lay down in the punt.' Long pause. 'I kissed her foot, I kissed her knee, and then I kissed her thigh.' 'That,' said Ted, 'was prose, but if I had gone any higher, it might have been poetry.' As I mentioned before, I was young then - I think at this time, about ten yrs old - but I was quite aware of the joke. I always wondered if it caused a bit of a stir at the BBC. Surely it must hv done, but I could never discover anything about it later.
Thank you for another interesting insight into the wonderful celebrities of the past. How interesting about the moustache and the views and opinions that used to shape people's private lives. I had heard of The Glums.
Oh YES! Things have changed so much! Sometimes for the good - other times not so much - it’s all very fascinating though! Thank you for your comment! Very much appreciated xxxx
When working at the Sheffield Arms Hotel in Danehill Sussex, Saw Jimmy take the "Stirrup Cup" (the pre hunt drink) in the forecourt of the hotel,he certainly was a character.! More information about the location of the grave yards of you subjects please, always useful I think, A Subscriber
I can imagine 🤣 oh yes sorry!!! 🤭 I have added the location/link to the cemetery/graveyard on many of the videos but I sometimes forget! I’ll check them out and update the one I’ve forgotten! Thank you for watching and subscribing!
A wonderful and very funny comedian .......... you mentioned Take It From Here that ran from 1948 until 1960 even today the series stands out as one of the best BBC Radio series of all time and can still be heard on BBC 4 Extra along with other such great shows of the time like Hancocks Half Hour - The Goon Show - Beyond Our Ken / Round The Horne ect ........ question for you dear lady where are Tony Hancock ashes scattered ?............ thank you ....... who`s next in your ever expanding tribute videos ......... please keep them coming ..... lol
Oh yes!!!! Those shows were just so good! I honestly can’t think of anything that would compare today sadly! Ahhhhh Tony! Well Tony Hancock died in Sydney Australia I believe and his ashes were flown home - his ashes are now buried in Cranford, Hounslow - with his mother ❤️ I have rather a long list of good intentions! I’ve got a number that are just waiting in the wings 🤭 a few surprises I hope!
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre Your spot on about to days very poor BBC output ...... they`ve just lost the plot completely. PS Tony Hancocks ashes were brought back to England by the late Willie Rushton yet another very funny man .... much missed ..... where is he buried ?
@@johnrees definitely! Yes - I knew about Willie Rushton and I believe Willie’s ashes were buried by the oval cricket ground - he was a massive cricket fan.
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre I saw Tony Hancock at the BBC Television Centre in 1961 as i was in the audience during the recording of an episode of Hancock as it was then known as Sid James had left the previous year ( but that as they say is another story in the decline of Tony Hancock ) .... the episode was called The Bowmans ..........
@@johnrees Oh my goodness!!!! What a memory to have - I would have loved to have seen that! Did Tony Hancock live up to your expectations? Talking of Sid James! I’ve always absolutely adored him - Kenneth Williams (another of my great loves!) on the other hand couldn’t stand him apparently! 🤭
I vaguely remember him. I recall being very young and watching The Glums. I read in a biog, that he and Hylda Baker came to blows. I think it was a theatre dressing room argument one summer season. 😆
I loved Hilda Baker 🤣🤣🤭 I did read in Kenneth Williams autobiography that he worked with Jimmy in the Pantomime Cinderella and she said that the audience loved Jimmy and couldn’t stop laughing! I was quite impressed because Kenneth Williams wasn’t always so generous about other performers getting the laughs 🤭
Hylda Baker and Irene Handl in particular are another two favourites of mine! I haven’t done the videos yet but you can be assured they are in mine list! ❤️
Yes! He was amazing - quite few of the big celebrities back in the day were absolute heroes during WWII - I should imagine their experiences made them feel it was important to do the things they loved most in life after the war 🌹
In the 1950's my ear was often glued to our old bakelite radio, tuned to BBC Home Service, listening to (among other programs) Jimmy Edwards on 'Does The Team Think.' In the most embarrasing thing I hv ever witnessed, Marjaree Proops (female columnist for the Daily Mirror) asked the team a question. Jimmy launched into his usual bombastic style, saying Marjaree looked like a horse. She had not been gifted with beauty. I, (young as I was) and the audience, was stunned. Dreadful hiatus. Slowly the programe got back into its flow. Never forgotten it. I don't blame Edwards - comedians are often on skis, cutting this way & that as they fly along, hoping to snatch humour as they go. I do, of course, remember the Glums ... 'Ooooo Eth!' 'Oooo Ron.' Then Jimmy Edwards, ''Ello ello, what's going on here ...' Trump my memory anyone ... ?
Ohhhhh 🤭🤭🤭 Marj Proops - I am very familiar with her - she was good friends with Diana Dors and a Alan Lake ❤️ Jimmy was superb although I’ve sadly never heard that episode 🤭 xx
Really interesting as always. My thoughts are he was more of a character than an actor. Don't know if he had any range as he was so typecast. But memorable, certainly. ❤
Thank you so much for your comment! Jimmy certainly was a great character actor and a character! I think that was difficult for him to vary! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video - thank you for watching! xxxx
Wacko late 50s TV was very funny. The cast including Jimmy were so good l loved the series. However it was married by one of the cast being caught by police in a public washroom. Three men in boat was delightful. Jimmy was an amazing talent.
Enjoyable interesting videos and excellent commentaries. (PS It's aitch NOT haych! I met him and Valerie at a polo match years ago and he was very particular in the way he spoke)
Jimmy played the policeman in both 1967 & 1979 versions of the plank RIP Jimmy Ps If you need any ideas for future grave sites, The Planks casts would be a good place to start, both versions have a huge star studded cast to choose from.
He did! Diana Dors was in the 1979 version too! They’re all on the list! Each one was a total legend - I’m a huge Carry On fan too - so looking forward to those ones as well!
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre Same here, My favourite after everyone's favourite is fellow Gateshead born lad, Jack Douglas Ps you may see comments popping up as I am on a channel catch up
Ahhh he was so funny! I think he gets a bit overlooked sometimes! I thoroughly enjoy reading comments so no worries there! In fact I’d not thought about Jack Douglas for a while so your comment was a lovely reminder!
I worked with Jimmy in what must have been a late (for him) British stage appearance in Eastbourne in 1987. He had a house in Sussex at the time. I was in my early 20s and found him a bit scary - he had such a large personality. He attended rehearsals on two crutches - he was quite frail - and we were concerned about his ability to perform. As rehearsals progressed the crutches were abandoned the frailty disappeared and his sparkling avuncular and ribald personality emerged. He was great on stage - but tetchy off it at times. I remember him tearing into a barman who could not make a pink gin to his satisfaction - quite embarrassing. Eastbourne welcomed what seemed like a 'comeback'. The show's cast had a carnival float promoting the production and his appearance through the streets of Eastbourne, to much applause, really seemed to please him. His 'outing' had caused some negative feelings among the public and this reception appeared to vindicate him as a performer. However, there were members of the public who refused to accept him because of his sexuality and vocally expressed their protests. Unfortunately, the show did not sell well and closed early. Nevertheless, for a young actor, it was an experience to remember.
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful and detailed recollection! It's fascinating to hear firsthand about your experience working with Jimmy Edwards during one of his later stage appearances. The way you describe his transformation from frail to vibrant during rehearsals really captures the essence of his strong personality and dedication to his craft. It's also interesting, albeit unfortunate, to hear about the mixed public reception he received due to his sexuality, which underscores the challenges he faced beyond the stage. It makes me so incredibly sad that he had to endure such attitudes - although unfortunately, he wasn't alone - so many of our great entertainers met with the same horrendous views and opinions. I feel for the barman who didn't live up to expectations with the pink gin, but it did make me giggle - thank you for that! Despite the show's early closure, it sounds like it was a memorable and valuable experience for you as a young actor. Your story adds a rich, personal layer to the understanding of Jimmy Edwards as both a performer and a person. Thank you again for sharing!
Thanks. Very interesting. We learn a lot about people when we have this kind of hobby/interest. I noticed you didn't state the cemetery name. Was that on purpose? My partner & I had a weekend away & visited a church, I did my usual "is there anyone buried in the cemetry of interest", the woman said, "Just down the road, the actor Wilfred Hyde-White, so we visited, that's the 2nd actor we came by via luck.
I remember Whack O! In one episode, he's trying to smarm his way with an old lady who is going to donate money to the school but wants him to abolish corporal punishment. One naughty lad turns up at his study for his whacking and says to Jimmy in front of the woman 'I've come to be caned' The woman looks aghast and he responds 'oh yes, I'm giving elocution lessons - the boy is actually saying kind, 'caned' is a refined way of saying kind, you know, I've come to be caned, kind' The boy responds ' But you told me to have six of the best Sir' and Jimmy blusters back 'Yes of course, you go and have six of the best cream cakes you can faned, I mean find' and bundles the child out of the door. 😂
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre Don’t know if you remember the tV reboot of The Glums in the late 70’s. Part of a poorly received Bruce Forsyth extravaganza, The Glums was the hit of the show. Jimmy as Pa with Ian Lavender as Ron and Patricia Brake as Eth. Very funny with one memorable episode of Jimmy stuck in the bath with his toe in the faucet asking for gravy browning to be added to the water to cover up his embarrassment!
This was one of my first videos - I’m on a learning curve and I now give the name of the cemeteries I visit on each video - however if anyone wants directions or to find a celebrity grave putting the persons name with the word grave into google brings the details up immediately or a quick search on find a grave will also give you the details - that’s how I do it unless it’s somewhere I’ve previously visited and already know x although I visit the graves it’s not really a graveyard channel - it’s more a biography channel on people I’m genuinely interested in. - a brief overview of their life and if others love them too they can research further ❤️
Thank you - I’m well - hope you are too! I have a couple of bases 🤭 mostly southern - but I do get out and about so nowhere is out of my range in the U.K. I’ll be uploading a new video hopefully this week 🎬

I remember him vaguely because of his moustache! Thank you for filling in the background, he was a brave man!
Yes!!!! He was very interesting - and exceptionally brave!
Jimmy was amazing.. Wacko!!!.. Great vlog as always... Seem him and his brother have a very peaceful resting place. Rip Prof Jim.
Thank you! Yes he was! It’s nice that he and his brother are side by side ❤️
I love this story thank you so much!!!! I can absolutely imagine it!!!

Another excellent video.
When I was a kid for some reason I’d confuse Jimmy Edwards with James Robertson Justice, maybe it was due to their strong characters & facial hair 🤔
Haha I totally get it!!!! I think visually they were not a million miles apart and as you mention they both had exceedingly strong characters! ❤️
He was a filmic and TV presence in my growing up. Playing the characters he did, put him in The Establishment which means it was easy not to like his characters, rather than the actor himself, whom few knew.
Thank you! I hadn’t thought of him as playing establishment figures etc - on thinking about this you’re so right!
Thank you so much for your comment - II had to google the names - I wasn't sure but I do vaguely recognise them - will be reading up I can assure you! xxx

Oh my goodness I LOVE this 🤣 had he really been drinking? It doesn’t surprise me though! What a character!
I've only recently discovered Jimmy Edwards as Pa Glum in " Take it from here."
I think he is excellent in the show, as they all are and wish I could hear more of the Glums.
@@BeautifulBadandBizarre
Oh! I'm disappointed by his fox hunting 😕
What were his controversial politics ?
Very interesting and very pretentious 🤭
I just thoroughly loved Jimmy’s acting too! I do think it was sad that Jimmy felt he couldn’t be who he was publicly - that’s one positive thing about now days ❤️
Thank you so much for for watching!

❤❤❤
I remember Jimmy Edwards telling a story about Arnhem. With the German fighters wings twinkling before he was advised that the twinkling was actually tracer rounds being fired at him. A great comedian
Yikes! Thank you I’d not heard that!
I went to a show with Jimmy and Roy Castle and laughed so much that I thought I had broken a rib I was in so much pain
The show became a contest of one liners coming so fast that you hadnt finished laughing at one before they delivered another
Both comedians were talented brass instrument musicians and competed in the show musically
Definately the funniest man I have ever seen
That sounds like an absolutely hilarious experience! Jimmy Edwards and Roy Castle must have been an unstoppable comedic duo, combining quick-witted one-liners with musical talents to create an unforgettable show. It's amazing how laughter can bring both joy and a bit of pain sometimes, 😅 but it's all worth it for moments like these. Thank you for sharing your memorable experience! xxxx

'I kissed her foot, I kissed her knee, and then I kissed her thigh.' 'That,' said Ted, 'was prose, but if I had gone any higher, it might have been poetry.'
As I mentioned before, I was young then - I think at this time, about ten yrs old - but I was quite aware of the joke. I always wondered if it caused a bit of a stir at the BBC. Surely it must hv done, but I could never discover anything about it later.
Love watching your video

'Ooooo Eth!' 'Oooo Ron.' Then Jimmy Edwards, ''Ello ello, what's going on here ...'
Trump my memory anyone ... ?

So funny as "Pa Glum".
Pa Glum: "Eyewash! Do you hear me, Eyewash!"
Ron Glum:"Yeah dad, but not very often".
🤭🤣🤣 the scripts were hilarious - that’s Frank Muir and Dennis Norden for you 🤣🤭

Hi great video as always, but why don't you give the name of the cemetery or a link from Google to it?
This was one of my first videos - I’m on a learning curve and I now give the name of the cemeteries I visit on each video - however if anyone wants directions or to find a celebrity grave putting the persons name with the word grave into google brings the details up immediately or a quick search on find a grave will also give you the details - that’s how I do it unless it’s somewhere I’ve previously visited and already know x although I visit the graves it’s not really a graveyard channel - it’s more a biography channel on people I’m genuinely interested in. - a brief overview of their life and if others love them too they can research further ❤️
