imo, the faux locs puts more tension on the roots so it's going to hang lower and cause it loosen up more at the roots faster than knotless braids which is probably why it seems like it's growing faster but 🥴idkkkkkk
There are still a lot of young people and kids, that don’t know nothing about their hai TV in Europe. The safe hate is still there, so new Videos on like TikToK will reach them
It’s exact as you said. Knotless braids tend not to loosen up as much as locs. So, it appears like your hair is growing faster in locs when it’s actually not.
Personally having both braids and butterfly locs, I saw a massive difference in growth in just a month from the locs... My theory is as the hair isn't exposed in locs and cacooned with the moisture that was already locked in before the locs, it's a bed for absolute growth, even with the take down my hair wasn't dry after a month... Whereas with braids it's intertwined with the hair and therefore still exposed to the elements... So I defo can agree with the second tiktok. But that's just my experience 🤷🏾♀️
That may be sis. But from what was shown in the video, that wasn't what was being described. The cacooning effect you described wouldn't account for a difference in length at _the base_ of a braid or loc.
Every time I’ve had knotless when I take them out my hair is so shiny and I rarely if every oil it, granted I don’t know what what my hair grade it but it’s good and I’m natural, I don’t blow dry my hair. After I wash I part oil and put in ponytails and either braid or twist (braids dnt come out as fast) the next morning it’s dry as if I blow dried and it and flat ironed minus the crimps from braids
Growth is good, but health is best. I am trying to grow out my collarbone-length hair, but I’m also one to get a big trim (CUT) every three months (when we’re not in a pandemonium!). I’ll tell my natural stylist to cut off the split ends, no matter how much it takes off, period. Who cares how long three strands can get, when it looks raggedy af?
I will watch any video you post. I don't care if you have 509 wash day videos already on your channel. I'll watch the 510th wash day video if you posted it today. I watch your videos for you, the simplicity of your routines and your chill personality. That's why i love your vlogs. Periodt!!!
Definitely agree that density and porosity matters the most. For example I have dense coarse hair but thick products do not work for my hair AT ALL! I’ve wasted lots of money on thick products over the last two years or so. I’ve noticed with thinner more watery products my hair drinks it all up. I think it’s because the thicker products have much heavier oils and waxes that my hair cannot absorb so it sits on top of my hair leaving my hair feeling very dry and wiry.
LEXI ALL OF THIS BEAUTY ON MY SCREEN!! It was the opening clip for me🤣🤣 this needed to be on a comedy special, cause the laughs I had Chile..! I love when you do these videos, because I love how you’re just giving to them straight. The overnight conditioning really needs to stop though. That mold, and fungus that builds up on the scalp of not cleaned well, can be crazy. The tiky toky lol really have people doing too much, and keeping things simple & thorough are truly how to get things done. You’ve done this since day 1, and it’s definitely been inspiring. Because your natural beauty and aura really shines!
I love watching DYI, but I will never do it, because I don't have the time. Even though I'm home🤣🤣🤣 I'm not going anywhere! You are hilarious 😆😆😂😂 I feel you girl, especially if it's raining!
Hi Lexi! Concerning knotless braids vs locs. The locs are definitely more protective so perhaps she noticed a lot less breakage during/after takedown❤️
I said it once and Imma say it again. You. Are. So. Beautiful. I love how real your videos feel. Your beautiful smile. And this great makeup is done so well. Love it love it love it.
I’m 3c/thick strands/lopo/very high density and I follow mostly all type 4 creators bc my hair mainly needs to retain tons of MOISTURE. Type 4 hair also tends to be thirsty so it works for me 🤷🏾♀️
Hi Lexi ! Your voice is so soothing :) I love watching your videos by the way. Can you do a makeup tutorial . I love the natural makeup looks that you do. Thanks for reading this and I hope you have good health and peace.
I think it's so important that you mentioned that you stopped using the scalp stimulator for a long time and your hair still grew. I think what happens with a lot of new naturals is that we're told 'you have to do this for your hair to grow/retain growth!'. But where does that knowledge come from? I've stopped using raw oils and butters on my hair and now that I clarified my hair (with shampoo not food products or dirt/clay), I don't struggle with product build up. But then 4 years ago, I was taught that if I didn't use oils in my hair/scalp it wouldn't grow or retain moisture. Nooo, my hair grows. And hydration is the opposite of dryness, so my question would be when you put raw oils onto your hair, is your hair hydrated or is it greasy?
From my understanding the oils are the help seal in the hydration from the water. But if you don’t need raw oils that’s honestly one less step for your wash day and I support it lol
Honestly same. I dont have the time or money to do all these diys or buy all these products. Basics- water, grease, leave in, shampoo conditioner and my hair is 15-19 inches
Oils are amazing imo. Once you use a bomb leave in and styler that makes it easy to detangle, seal that with a rly good oil ( my faves are extra virgin olive oil, jbco and argan oil from aunt jackies) and ur set. I cut my hair a few months ago but i believe its abt 25 inches atm. Also i never done a natural hair diy in my life💀. Dont think i ever will tbh
Sis, did you get a new camera or lighting? Because you look good! The quality of the video. I love it. It may not be different lol but it looks upgraded! 👌🏾👏🏾
No hacks for me. Shampooing, deep conditioning, low manipulation and a ROUTINE is what helped. Wash and goes are dangerous for my type 4 hair. Single strand knots 😣😣
the locs vs knotless braids thing is dumb lol sorry but locs just loosen up quicker. knotless braids had the hair fed in, so it doesn't slip down the hair shaft as much as the wrapped hair on the loc
It's not safe at all. first of all which protective style? because cornrows under a wig is very different to single braids. protective styles are really low manipulation styles in the sense that you're not playing with your ends since they're tucked away. but you should be washing your hair every week (not necessarily deep condition weekly if you don't have an issue with your hair). you wouldn't wash your face every 2-3 weeks and your scalp is just and extension of your skin and deserves that regular (more often) TLC. Also 5 months in a protective style is just too long because as soon as new growth starts to grow, it will just get tangled amongst each other and that tangle can lead to breakage if you don't detangle properly. also you will get a lot of shed hair (as all hair sheds regularly) and the detangling process after 5 months will be very tedious.
thank youuu.. ive had in in mini invisible braids tht i installed myself for 2 months...today i pulled 1 out to check the state of ma hair nd it was still really healthy and really easy to detangle with a little water and coconut oil...it also grew a lot...Like it was colarbone length b4 and now its about an inch away from armpit length...i barely had any shed hair but it was only 1 twist so ig it didnt seem like tht much...my ends r still healthy nd the only knot i had was a little buildup at the part i put gel on. Are you natural?
@@empressdessie7808 Maybe you could take them down and do it for another two months? In my opinion if it is still in a really good state that is a good time to take it down, rather than waiting for it to dry out and doing it then
Chile, I'm just binging yo videos lol. I agree that there is too much content and too many reliable women on YT (yourself being one) to be believing and not knowing stuff!
I agree with what you said about the the girl claiming locs grew her hair faster than knotless braids. sounds like bs to me 😂 looks like she just parted her hair differently with the locs which gave the illusion of more hair growing out
3C low porosity medium density here and no. I Cannot use the same products as 4b/4c. My hair likes liquid leave ins and creamy but more watery stylers but not thick ones. Thick weighs down my hair and is too oily. But the process is about the same. I definitely can't use just a leave in and go. I need it all
I don’t believe the loc vs braids. Every time I’ve had knotless granted I lest them in for about 2-3 months but k hair grew damn near 2 inches every time
Maybe bc the knot less style doesn’t have any braiding hair at the root to protect and hold it in place, you’re seeing less new growth so less retention.
The real question is , Im not african, i don't have curly hair. I don't know anyone who has curly hair. Im not black. I have straight hair (no problem). Why am I watching your videos? 😁 love you and your vibes 🇮🇳

Yeeeeeaaaaaah, I can’t really with that “locs help growth more than braids.” I think you’re right on with the loosening.
2-4 inches overnight? Come on now. 🙄🙄😒Also, I feel you on the hair growth videos. What more is there to say after all these years?
Nothing at all lmao

Very good point

I love this look on you Lexi! face is beaaaat! 😍
Thank youuuu
I make my own infused oils and whipped shea butter. I take a little time on a weekend and do it all so they last months.
So true. I am much happier with my hair now that I've stopped comparing it to other people's hair. I just enjoy what my hair can do.

of course the locs are gonna show more hair, it's gonna slide down quicker, with the knotless braids that's your own hair right there
I do DIY because I have a sensitive scalp and all the good natural hair products have fragrance that irritates my scalp.
Yes, me too. Less is more because of this.
