Totally agree with what you said about degrees and recognition of diplomas abroad, and unfortunately it is a common practice. Totally agree with you also on your opinion about perfectionist people: I am such a person, I have the need to check and re-check everything to make sure that all is perfect. Yes, the job is well done at the end, but something that I do in 3 hours others get done in half an hour, and I drive myself mad with it (I wish I could change, but it is an innate thing, nothing I can do about it). Thank you for stitching with us, I watched half way and done 100 stitches. I have to run now, but I'll come back in the evening and stitch some more with you. Love how stitching with one thread looks like, never tried it before, but you just made me want to try it myself. I should get some 20 ct fabric for this, I know that's what you use the most. Best of luck with your new course!!
Thank you for your kind words Mihaela, however if I had a choice of having someone like yourself work with me who is diligent, pragmatic and accurate over someone who just wants to get the job done, I would choose you everytime. The problem with my dad is that because he always has commitments elsewhere, he is never really in a position to finish anything he starts and then I get left with the fall back of everything else that needs doing with no experience of how to do It. Glad you managed to get some stitches in 😘
That cross stitch is gorgeous, it's gonna be a stunner when it's done! Also, my mum and I love Mrs Brown's Boys, we have all the DVDs. They're hilarious XD
Thank you! I love it. Glad it came up on full coverage fanatics for August. Had to pick a pattern with the colour Teal. This is pretty Teal green I think, so it will be coming out again yey!! X And I agree, Mrs Browns boys is so hilarious 😀
Enjoy your videos! I too often start with the bottom parked thread but I stitch going down my diagonal typewriter method so the above parked threads I can drape over the top of my frame and they are completely out of the way. Once those are all done, I start at the top and stitch the missing colors down and park in the next area. On occasion, I may have the same color parked in my block, 1 at the top and 1 at the bottom and in that case, if needed, will park in the next column.
You are 100 percent right in what you say about qualifications, but once USA does checks on the qualifications they know it is far higher than their qualifications; you Holly could teach them in my opinion. Would be great to see a 6 month wip progress also would love to see a video of your horse as I know nothing about horses but she sounds like a true gem. I have watched Mrs Brown's Boys fabulous show. Anytime here they do a live show the tickets are booked out ah well.
Hi Daisy Rae, I had no idea Mrs Browns boys was a thing here!! I'll check it out as I would love to see a live show. If ai get wind of anything, I will let you know 😀. I didn't mean for my stitch with me to come over as a 'rant' it's just that when you work so hard to achieve something, which is known to be harder than other countries, and institutions just dismiss it because it isn't a 4 year degree, it's really debilitating and makes you feel really crappy. Doing the other course will only improve me and my knowledge though, so it's all good. When my mare is moved into her new home, I will post some pics 🥰 xx
@@hollythecrossstitchaddict83 Hi Holly Mrs Browns Boys is a UK tour starting up again for this year it will be on tv at some stage. I remember years ago watching tv and Mrs Brown was in the USA but I don't know of any tours in USA. I hadn't said I was in the UK so my message came across like I was in the USA sorry about that.
Hi Holly. I just found your channel and I love it so much. I'm a cross stitcher but haven't gone down the full coverage rabbit hole yet😂. I can't wait to see more of your videos.
Glad to see you back love stitching with you. Its made a very relaxing afternoon. I appreciate you explaining what's been going on in your life. I just wish the Americans you've been having to deal with wouldn't make us look like a bunch of you know what's. Love your projects no matter how you show them off. I have my favorites in your group and hope to see them come along. Hey have a great time of it. Study hard ! And good luck on that. How long does that study program going to take ?
Lovely piece! Not stitching atm, i'm crocheting little fish for my sons birthday to hand out in school. Got almost 2 done! Thank you for stitching so I could crochet
Really enjoying your videos! I am doing my first cross stitch project and already thinking about the next one I wish to start. I want to do it on 20 count 1 over 1 but I'm not sure how that will look when it's finished. Would you have a project that you could show that was done 20 count 1 over 1? I've read some comment that there's not enough coverage and it shows too much of the fabric, while others say it's the best. thank you
Hi Kelly, I don't have any finished unfortunately, but a big chunk of my projects are done in 20 count 1 over 1, so if you watch out for my next wip update video which will be up Sunday or Monday, you will be able to see a few different ones with different colourways. Now, there are a few things to consider when looking at using 20 count fabric. 1) I use cxc thread which is slightly thicker than dmc, so in my opinion, it is perfect coverage. DMC would most likely look quite sparse. 2) if you doubled your strand to 2, your work would look really bulky. It would also be difficult to get your needle in and out in high confetti areas (I've done the leg work and hated it). If, however you like the bulked out stitch look (I don't) then 20 count using 2 strands is fine. I use 2 on 18 though and I think that looks fine. If you check out my Instagram, there is a close-up picture of 18 count 2 over 1 it's a pink area or stitching. I have no idea how people use 2 threads for 25 counts. That would be impossible for me. The best thing you can do is a swatch. See how using 1 or 2 strands feels and looks. Like I said, though, dmc is thin. Good luck, and let me know how you get on x
@@hollythecrossstitchaddict83 Thanks so much for the advice. Unfortunately I've already purchased the dmc for my project but will take your advice and do a test area with 1 vs 2 strands.
@Kelly S what project are you doing? And how many skeins have you bought. I pay .69c for 10 skeins, so if you wanted, you could probably re-kit your whole project for less that £10 / $10, and you can keep the other floss for another project. Just a suggestion xx
Thanks so much for the suggestion, you're very sweet, however it's a large project. The project is from thread bare and it's called Rest in Peace Requiescat. For my adult son
Where abouts do you live in the USA, is it Covington, Mississippi? My husband overheard you when I was watching your stitch with me.....and was curious!!!!!

It’s a bit depressing listening to your wealth I’m living in cost of living crisis in a small council flat barely room to swing a cat in the whole flat , I searched for cross stitch full coverage tutorial you have not explained your method of stitching diagonal etc , how many boxes etc, not even seen your back it would help us newbies feel reassured that full coverage is messy .
@juliacannings509 Hi!, thank you for your comment. Believe me when I say, I'm far from wealthy. I have got where I am from hard work and dedication. I am not from a rich family, and I certainly don't have a rich husband to support me. I have for most of my life worked 3 jobs just to survive. I didn't go to university straight from college. I didn't even do college after school, I trained and qualified as an accountant so when I decided I wanted to work with horses, I had to go back to college and did 3 A levels at night school whilst working a full time job as well as waitressing on the weekends. I then gained enough qualifications to do an Equine Science Degree working the whole way through my degree at Frankie and Benny's whilst living in a room in a run down house that flooded every year I was there because it was cheap and I could save money. After uni I just worked worked worked. At this point I was working 60 plus hours at TGI Fridays as well as Sainsbury's, all so I could save enough money to enable me to tick the box for the E2 investment visa. I now have 2 mortgages that are crippling me finacially and I'm living in a camper. I don't even have a house. So no I wouldn't call my situation wealthy at all. I, like the rest of us am just trying to survive whilst trying to build a business that will generate enough money so I can survive financially too. I'm glad you have a council flat. I lost my job once (years ago now) and asked for a little assistance from the council to help pay my rent (this was when I was back in England) however because I was newly unemployed, they wouldn't help me, so I ended up losing my home anyway because I couldn't get any help from a scheme that I had only ever paid into. But hey, what can you do. I am sorry that you coming across my channel depresses you, however I will not apologise for being where I am, because I've worked flipping hard to get here. With regards to the diagonal method, i never have stitched diagonally which is probably why I've never explained it. I will also just add, that I don't get paid to do these videos, I do them because I like to help people. I'm not monetized and I have to fit them into a very busy life, which I do, so when people rip them apart, please understand that alot of work goes into the filming and editing, and sometimes a little appreciation goes along way. However, at some point I have probably shown the back of it on one of my previous videos. My backs are a hot mess though, so it's not something I do very often, as you're right full coverage can be very messy, especially in confetti heavy areas.
