You seem to be "pining for the fjords!" (do you take the reference?)
Norway have so many waterfalls and mountain lakes that the entire countrys electricity supply is hydroelectric with over 1000 such plants.
Now - if you look at the statistics you will find a few natural gas powered plants - however these are offshore for power out at sea.
Grocery stores and malls all over the place, but of course in the mountains and very rural places you have plan and prepare. Further between stores and gaz stations. Google map girls😉every info is on Google. Like where are the nearest store etc. And like cheapest traintrip or bustickets. LOTS OF PUBLIC TRANSPORTIONS POSSIBILITIES HERE.

I'm from Sweden and Sweden looks nothing like Norway. The thing that stuns me the most about Norway is that not only does it live up to the hype and then some(the scale is impossible to prepare for), but it also looks like this everywhere. There are mountains and fjords like this almost as soon as you pass from Sweden into Norway. It's almost surreal.

@@adamsjoberrgNo, it's not. It's not as flat as Sweden, but the mountains aren't everywhere in Norway and generally not close to the border with Sweden. Most things look spectacular from a distance, but, close up, there is a distinct lack of mature ecology for what is the least densely populated part of Europe. The lack of mature trees in the landscape (in areas where trees grow) says a lot about how little respect exists for nature in Norway. An indication of a destitute history in one of the least self-sufficient nations on the periphery geographically.

I live in UK but have a Norwegian friend whom I’ve visited a few times. He lives near Pulpit rock featured in this video. I can confirm that Norway is stunning and the people are the friendliest I’ve ever come across. But it is expensive

In simple terms, Norway is as close to Heaven on Earth as you’ll ever get. The sculpted landscapes are breathtaking & as a society, Norway is idyllic in countless metrics. Quite possibly the finest place to live on the planet.
The winter sucks, its dark early and its cold. Sunlight from 9.30am to 2.30pm. I lived my whole life in Norway. And i just wanna hibernate those 3-4 awful months. But some love it going skiing and snowscooter
@@omgwerockhard I'm Norwegian too, and I love the winters. Can get the fireplace going, read books, light candles, go skiing and so on. I know some people struggle with the amount of darkness, but If it wasn't for the darkness we wouldn't appreciate the opposite situation in summer so much. Almost 24 hours of sunlight. I also like the fact that we have four very distinct seasons.
Yes norway IS the closest you can come to heaven without dying,so if you long for peace and beauty norway is the place for you.

we have´´nt seen the same country...all is xxl expensive....people not really friendly,just polite...and they are killing whales ! the food is one "adventure",,,no it is not a paradise ...i would prefer russia in that sort of country.

I was lucky enough to visit Norway many times when I was in the Royal Navy. You never get tired of the country, it's beauty is beyond compare, there is nowhere in the world I have visited that comes close to it. Sure it is expensive but there is no price I wouldn't pay to enjoy the beauty and majesty of this amazing place. You ladies need to visit, you will never want to leave.
Norway is spectacular and the people are among the nicest anywhere.
When you work with Norwegians, it's absolutely impossible to imagine them going berserk and charging ashore.

Greetings from Norway 🇳🇴 . First time watching one of your videos. Thankfully it was recommended to me by YT, so just subscribed. Norway is such a diverse country (since it stretches the same length as continental Europe). It’s colder in the north and warmer in the south. Because Norway’s so far north, the sun rises and descends very quickly in the south, and is either up or down 24/7 in the north. The sun never rises over the horizon during winter, and never sets during summer, in Northern Norway. And yes, we have both wild and "tamed" flocks of reindeer - it tastes amazing btw!
As an inhabitant of Oslo, I recommend you check out some videos about our capital as well. It gets a lot of undeserved hate from Norwegians living elsewhere in the country, but it’s a really beautiful city. It has The Kings Royal palace, The Parliament, Akershus Fortress, The Munch Museum, National Museum, History Museum, Viking ship Museum, Polar expedition museum ++++ museums, and stunning parks and forests surrounding the city. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos!
I had a difficult time getting used to the daylight difference when I visited about 3 months ago. I was exhausted on my first day there from all of the travel via airplane that I went to bed fairly early. I woke up at 21:30 freaking out that I missed breakfast the following day at our hotel, and then realized I had only been asleep for about 2 hours and there was still daylight. I was also amazed later in my trip at how much light was still in the sky at 23:00 a few days later, and this was about 3 weeks prior to the sun not setting. Where I come from, the sky would be basically dark 2 hours earlier.
@erics607 The days are long in all of Norway during the summer. In Oslo, the sun rises at 3.53 AM (03.53) and sets at 10.42 PM (22.42) in the middle of June. In the North, it's daylight all day (and night). I get that people who aren't used to it get stressed out by it. We have a saying/song in Norway, "du skal ikkje sove bort sumarnatta, ho er for ljos til det," which means "you must not sleep through the summer nights, it's to bright for that". Basically, it means that you should stay awake and enjoy the sun as long as possible during summer, because the winter is going to be really really dark. Hope you enjoyed our country besides the sun, though, and you're welcome back any time.

oslo has great museums, i recently found out about a naval museum (i think it was), but oh man. ive never seen anything more beautiful than on the drive from sarpsborg - Lofoten. took about 18 hours though. - another norwegis

I'm from Kristiansand in the far south and it's incredibly beautiful here too, but we don't have the tall mountains like they do in the west and the north. However it doesn't take long when you start driving inland in a northward direction before they start rising up, and it's incredibly beautiful 🥰🥰🥰👌
Here in the south we have a milder climate with shorter winters and longer, warmer summers and it's a very popular holiday destination for many Norwegians and foreigners too in the summertime. We don't have the midnight sun in the summer allthough it stays light for long and only gets really dark for a few hours during the middle of the night. But on the other hand we still get several hours of sunlight/daylight in the wintertime whereas in the far north they get little to none and it's also way colder up there than it is down here in the south, which frankly suits me just fine! 😅👌
Our son moved from our country (Belgium) to Norway got married there, great country stress free, wonderful landscapes pollution free. The dream place to move to. You two'd better get ready to be amazed by this wonderful country. Enjoy.

I am Dutch, but I have often been on holiday to Norway and Sweden. The further north you go, the quieter it gets :-) But that fjord area is really beautiful. However, don't expect to travel quickly in Norway. You are very often waiting for a ferry to take you to the other side of the water.
I've been to a few glaciers in Norway. In Canada I have also been on a few glaciers and in Lake Tahoe in the US I have also been. I thought Crater Lake was the most beautiful lake in the US.
I think Canada and Scandinavia are very similar. Especially if you go a little further north in Canada through the Canadian Rocky Mountains (Jasper, Banff, Lake Louise) towards Prince Rupert.
But what I also love about Scandinavia is that it is light for so long in the summer. If you are there at the end of June it hardly gets dark. Could you imagine? At 3 o'clock at night the BBQ is on ...... great.
I am a proud norwegian and I think I take our nature for granted but when I see this video you guys reminded me of how beautiful it is so thank you!! I look outside and its the most beautiful thing to look at❤️
I can't imagine the world not looking like this so when people are so shocked about its beauty I always think "dosnt it look like that everywhere?😂" and it makes me want to explore the world. That's why I love this type of videos

I've been to Norway twice. I took children from my school on a skiing trip and went with my wife and son on a cruise (including the first fjord you saw - Geraingerfjord, stunning). It is a beautiful country and the people are so friendly, great place, love it.
My Dad was a zoologist/marine biologist, environmentalist....I am the eldest of 4 children, when I was 6 weeks old jy Dad went to Norway with the university for a few months. He loved it & had a massive place in his heart tor the country & the people. I have a doll & a leather purse & a toy polar bear...& its on my bucket list. I did the Midnight Half Marathon in Tromso ( Inside the Artic Circle ) in Summer - It started at midnight and was broad daylight and when I finished it was also Broad daylight !!! the scenery was absolutely amazing ( but was very expensive ) and all the locals were out supporting the runners ...chanting " hey ya hey ya " ... It's on my list to do it again ...but I'm past 60 ......
I live near Geiranger, and you never ever get tired of the views! A fjord is a U-shaped valley carved out by glaciers and filled with seawater as it opened to the ocean. The climate varies a lot, as it is a very long country. In winter the coast is humid and quite mild, the inland is dry and much colder, but these things vary a lot from year to year, and even through the season. Summers CAN be quite warm, but don't count on it 😅

Hi guys :) I am from Norway, north Norway originally but living in the south-west area in the city of Sandnes just outside Stavanger. This is where Lysebotn is :)
I just have to leave a comment here and beg you to please not just go to Oslo because it is the Capital. Because Norway and the beautiful fjords are actually on the other side of the country. And it is SO much more than Oslo. And if you really want to experience Norway, you should travel fram Kristiansand and go north on the coast and middle of Norway through Stavanger - to Odda and Hardangerfjord and Hardangervidda which is more in the middle of the country, or the coast road to bergen from haugesund. And up to Bergen, Ålesund (The county's Hordaland and Møre og Romsdal) That is where a lot of the magical scenery is :)
Also Trondheim in the middle of Norway and north Norway like Lofoten, Andøya and over to Senja with boat from there is really magical! Driving through this country is just breathtaking! I have travelled from Stavanger to Tromsø by car many times.
If you ever come here and want or need a tour guide, let me know :) I have a house here in the south and have some contacts of the north Norwegian bed&breakfast and hotels as I worked in that business there a few years. Also do have a house on Senja :)
Norway is or can be expensive, but we do have higher salaries of course depending on what you work with. In the districts there are not many stores and grocery stores. But the small stores that they have are so much cooler to buy from sometimes :)
As someone who's from the Oslo-area, I also wouldn't advice tourists to put Oslo very high on their list of destination priorities in Norway. Oslo covers all of your shopping needs, but it's one of my least favorite cities in this country. It's like a really poor man's, New York 😂

I'm from Sweden and we have some beautiful scenery in my country, but nothing beats Norway.. I hate to admit it, but Norways nature is breathtaking and videos really doesn't do it justice.. Used to go there a lot fishing when i was younger with my family, and i plan on going back very soon again, BUT it's expensive as all hell in Norway so just be prepared for the prices if you decide to visit👍
Sweden is the next country on our list as we both have some Swedish ancestry!!

I genuinely feel so honored when foreigners have compliments for our country.
I have always been a nature appreciator. Even just walking from my house I sometimes stop just to take in what I think is quite a pretty street in a city surrounded by mountains, or the sky with pretty sunsets or clouds high or low. But even so, it's all so normal for me.
Videos like this really help me appreciate and be grateful for Norway's natural state and our history.
I have kind of been on a "re-learning" journey about Norway recently. Using reaction videos like this to keep my interest.
I have really lost touch with a lot of Norwegian stuff as I grew up and I got accustomed to the internet where I got access to most of the world and english content is what is most prevalent worldwide. I stopped watching Norwegian TV, or listen to Norwigian songs even though a lot of Norwigian content is quite charming and gives me a good feeling from childhood. So reactions all over have really helped me connect with my roots again, and see my country in a new light.
And no, his pronunciation is not correct. Foreigners tend to pronounce our letters like english letters, even if they try not to lol But that's okay, just don't expect that videos about Norway pronounce Norwegian words and names correctly unless a Norwegian has made it.
And yes, we do have raindeers:)

I visited Norway it was stunning but so so expensive! ...even the prisons are beautiful..apparently the best in the world and crime is very low! Parts did remind me of the highlands of Scotland...beautiful scenery and beautiful people...❤❤😊😊
Norwegian currency can fluctuate wildly because of our insane economy, and the best advice I can give anyone who has a dream of going to Norway, is to start saving up in Norwegian currency in advance. Right now, for instance, NOK is 34% cheaper than we consider normal, in part because we're selling off excess tax income to invest in the global markets. But that means that everything in Norway costs 34% less than normal when you're a foreigner. But of course there is also the other side of normal and it really matters if a dollar gives you 11 NOKs or 5. :) If you had a 50-60% discount on everything in Norway, you probably wouldn't feel that it was so expensive.
I did a farm tour in Bergen, and the owner of the farm has a 2nd job as a pastry chef because farming in Norway won't pay all of your bills considering most of the land can't be planted like in the US or other countries. The farmer we got to meet told us that a couple days of the week he goes to prison and teaches the inmates how to bake pastries and other things, so that they have a skill to use when they are allowed to leave prison. Because of this, the return rate of prisoners who are released from prison is something like 15% since they have a life skill to use once they leave.
Ah send me to the fjords, the beautiful mountains etc etc. Norway scenery is beyond compare. If my memory serves me well Norway is also the best place in the world to see the Northern Lights. Aurora Borealis to you and me. Stunning country.
You can see it everywhere at the right latitude, not only in Norway.

This summer I accompanied my father on a fishegg deliverance down thru the heart of West Norway. And I tell you, many believe the pictures is a result of massive filtrering, but, no, the colors, the green, the blues, the blacks, every color matched!

A fjord is a long, deep, narrow body of water that reaches far inland. Fjords are often set in a U-shaped valley with steep walls of rock on either side. Fjords are found mainly in Norway, Chile, New Zealand, Canada, Greenland, and the U.S. state of Alaska

The Scandinavian Mountains or the Scandes is a mountain range that runs through the Scandinavian Peninsula. Just a little while back you did one on the songs and anthems from Britain, when you both stood up for "God Save The Queen" my tears became full blown crying. It is the anniversary of the first year of her passing is rapidly approaching. I loved and respected her immensely. Thanks once again, even if you do not see my comments, that does not mean that I am no longer watching, RUclips is best seen for me on my TV. I love your enthusiasm Natasha and Debbie. Norway is truly a beautiful place and I hope you get to visit one day. My experience some years ago was magical, I absolutely loved the fjords and the culture. Bear in mind if visiting in the summer time that you have more daylight and it doesn't really get dark. However in the winter time it is dark and little daylight. In the video it showed the on the map that parts of the UK, mainly Scotland is on a line with Norway and some of the mountains, scenery is similar...and climate. Some of the islands in Scotland such as Shetland are probably as near to Norway as they are to the UK mainland. It can be expensive in Norway and one tip is the water is so pure, don't waste your money on bottled water as it is not worth it. Hope you continue to learn about this beautiful country. Best Wishes
Norway is a wonderful country, well worth a visit, I would recommend the Hurtigruten Classic Cruise - Bergen to Kirkness and back. 12 days in total and can be done all year. for nature and 24 hours sunshine, go in the Summer, for the Northern lights and 24 hour darkness, go in the Winter. You will not be disappointed!
Hurtigruten is amazing. An alternative to take the round trip is to get off the skip in Kirkenes, hire a car and drive back south. It will take some days, depending of how many driving hours a day, and of course, how often you stop to take in the scenic nature.

Outside the main roads, the more local roads are narrow and the locals often drive as they owned the roads. Don't go for the biggest campervans and a Ferrari, nice, but no. Speed limits max 110km/h at main roads in southern or eastern Norway, elsewhere max. 80 km/h. Most of transport here go by road, so prepare for som tight meetings. And the toilets along the roads, to few and very often dirty, smelling. The rest of Norway are beautiful almost wherever you go. New beautiful views almost around every corner.

A Ferrari would be wasted here.
We have some of the strictest road laws in Europe, 12 mph above the limit can land you in jail.
A single glass of alcohol etc...
Norway is trying to eliminate road fatalities and the country is taking that *serious*.
Also, we have the second most expensive gasoline in the world due to our taxation and high fees on internal combustion engine cars in general.
Fees on car weight, emissions, value...
As for a RV, that's a great idea, but not in the tourist hotspots as there's been a explosion in camping tourism in recent years and our infrastructure isn't even close to supporting that influx of motorized campers.
(Norwegian campers tend to pitch up a tent, not a whole RV)
A Ferrari is not recommended. Not practical outside the biggest cities, and you'll have to be prepared for damages caused by bad roads. You will not get the feeling of driving a supercar on average Norwegian roads, you might as well save your money renting a much cheaper car. Remember, pretty much everything is more expensive in Norway than any other countries

First time viewer from Norway 😊 I drive all around Norway for work, so just ask 😊 my family owns the mountain farm "Knivsflå" across the fjord from Skageflå in Geirangerfjorden and a lot of the farms and buildings in Geiranger. My favourite place here, outside of tourist season 👍

We have cruised a couple of times in Norway. It is stunningly beautiful!
Edited to say, if you were staying in the Uk long enough (a month) maybe combine it with a week cruise from Southampton to see the Fjords. I’ve visited many of the sights shown on this video. It is utterly gorgeous, particularly late spring when the melting snow fills the waterfalls.
If the time is limited than it does not make sense to waste many days on a cruise ship starting in UK that takes several day's just in order to get to and from Norway. There are daily flights from UK to the west coast of Norway to cities like Stavanger or Bergen. From there you can go on ships that daily run up and down the coast. Just take out the part you want ....and have time for.... The coastal express is famous and tourists come from all over the world to travel with it.

I am norwegian. One of the special things about Norway is that the population is pretty widely dispersed over the whole country. This means that even if there are some long distances there is usually facilities not too far away. But make a good plan, to avoid spending your whole budget on touristy prices for convenience. Try the seafood. I remember talking once, to some french tourists in my country that said they have stopped caring about reaching spesific destinations on their 15th time coming back to Norway, because if you travel up the west coast, all the way up to Russia...every place you stop is a view to behold. I grew up here, so sometimes I need foreigners to help me rediscover what we have here, so thanks for that :)

Another great show girls, I was in Norway last week, this brought back so many great memories, I have been there three times, to the very north and down to the south, it’s a fantastic place, I’m from Scotland and when I say it’s beautiful you can believe it, you definitely have to try and go there 👍 where you come over , sending blessings from Scotland 🏴

Everyone always talk about Oslo and Bergen as old cities, but they always forget to mention Trondheim. It was the capital of Norway for a very long time during the viking age, and it has Northern Europe's largest cathedral.
Mentioning old Norwegian cities, one shouldn't forget Tønsberg, which dates back to before the Viking Age, around year 800.

Being to Norway twice. Was in Bergen in May and its so beautiful. Its the most rainy city in Europe but the sun actually came out on one of the days. Love Bergen!!

You have only seen the top of the iceberg. I live by one of the attractions, Saltstraumen, and see it every day when I look out the window. Two hours drive from here you can see the second largest glacier in the country Svartisen (Black Ice).The unique thing with this is that it goes all the way down to the sea. In southern Norway it is also worth seeing Nigardsbreen which is part of Jostedal Breen the biggest glacier we have on the mainland. Strange that Kjerag was not mentioned in the part from Lysebotn. It is a popular place for BASE jumping and there is a rock there were daredevils can test their nerves by climbing onto the rock. Probably nothing for you ladies because of your fright of nights. It they fall it is around 1000 meters down. An other place mentioned is the city of Svolvaer that is the largest in Lofoten. Here daredevils can climb up the mountain Svolvaer Geita (Svolvaer Goat). When they get to the top they can challenge them self by jumping from one horn to the other. The leap is only two meters, but if you miss you will at least fall 150 meters down.😁
Most of the video is from Vestlandet (the most wstern part of Norway). It is truly stunning, but it is often rainy, though. This is where you find the fjords. Truth be told: Norway has a lot of mountains, but we DO have other geography and parts, too.
This is why the wife and I love Europe.

Norway for example is 600 miles from our front door in Suffolk
So roughly an hour by air.
Paris 3 hours by train.
Rome 2hrs 20 by plane etc etc.
Could never move we'd miss these fabulous places in Europe.
Glacier lakes?
Lake Louis in Canada is our favourite but Norways Fjords are totally unique and fantasic.

I've been following you guys for a while, and I love that you now start exploring my country. The houses that you talked about are probably not that expensive, the countryside of Norway struggle with people moving out and moving into the city instead. But other than that, Norway is an expensive country.
Norwegian native here, guys. I love your video! You asked what a fjord is and it's simply a a valley going all out to the ocean, creating an inlet filled with seawater. These valleys were carved out by ice glaciers during the last ice age, 170,000 - 10,000 years ago.
Yes, it's mostly expensive in Norway, depending on what you buy. Some goods, like booze and gasoline, are much more expensive than in the U.S. We have high taxes and 12 - 25% VAT on goods. The Scandinavian tax system is modeled so that it pays for common services, like free education (also at college/university level) and free health services, equalizes the difference between citizen's living standards, and so on. It makes people happy in the long run, even if the taxes can feel too high at times. Norway is maybe the richest country in the world, per capita, save for perhaps a couple of the small arab oil states in the Gulf area. But they're not equalized societies, like Norway.
Norway is also perhaps the most gender equalized society in the world, when it comes to equal pay and work conditions, although we still have some way to go. We have laws that regulate equality and all discrimination based on gender is illegal. Women who give birth get a full year leave from work, with pay, and can share that time with the spouse (upto 1/3 of the time is shareable, I think).
We're not a member of the European Union (EU), only associated through another organization. We've said NO to the EU twice, in national referendums in 1973 and 1994.
Fun fact: over 80% of all new consumer cars sold today are Electric Vehicles (EV) and the goal is that 100% will be EVs in just two years, end of 2025. It's the highest EV adoptive rate in the world.
We're different in many ways and we like it that way. Norwegians are stubborn and proud people, may seem cold on the surface but are warm and friendly once you get to know us.
I'm a Norwegian living in Tromsø, one of the best places in the world to see the northern lights during the winter. In the summer we have midnight sun, so it's daylight 24 hours a day. Very expensive to live here, but it's worth it 😊

Regarding the climate of Norway, we can say we have four or five more or less distinct zones, depending on definitions:
- Southern coastal: (relatively) mild summers and winters. Snow is "almost unhead of", the temperature typically doesn't drop below freezing, even during winter, thanks to the Gulf stream. (Think: English coastal climate, but slightly colder)
(- Western coastal: As the southern coast, but with more precipitation. It typically gets colder (both during summer and winter) the further north along the coast you are, quite obviously. (Think: Scottish coastal climate))
- Southern inland: Mild summers and (comparatively) bleeping cold winters - the inland isn't warmed by the Gulf stream nearly as much as the coastal areas. Often lots of snow in the winter, with some mountains covered year-round.
- Central/northern coastal: Starting around 1/4 up the western coast, the summers typically gets colder, but summer high temps might still reach the 80s F. Again, typically, further north=colder. High-ish precipitation year-round, but can have long periods of fair weather.
- Northern inland: In the far north, inside the Archtic circle, the average summer high temps rarely exeeds 65F, and during the winter it _can_ drop to -50F (record is about -59F), with little precipitation (but the snow that does come typically stays well into spring/early summer even in the lowlands) during the winter.

There are wild reindeer in the southern and central mountainous regions, and (much more numerous) semi-domesticated reindeer all the way from the south-eastern inland regions all the way north, typically herded by indigunous Sámi* people.
Polar bears _only_ live on the Svalbard archipelago way, way north, there are no polar bears on mainland Norway 😅 The video is correct than anyone can move there visum free, but they _must_ have an employment contract and a housing rental contract signed before you can move. Short term tourists obviously doesn't have to :P
*: The Sámi people counts aprox. 80k total, with most of them living permanently or semi-permanently in Norway. They now (since the 90s) have a semi-autonomous parliament, and their language is now an official language of (at least) Norway, with more and more road signs, public office building signs, etc, now in both Norwegian and Sámi in central and northern Norway. I don't think you are surprised to hear that we haven't always treated the Sámi people well, but it has been on the mend for the last few decades, thankfully.
