- Throughout our travels in Indonesia, we have been blown away by the kindness and generosity that the Indonesian people have given us. And so, in a gesture to show our gratitude, we are giving back to a local community. In this episode, we are located on the island of Java and in a place called Tempur, a stunningly-beautiful village that is actually situated in a volcanic crater!
With the help of our friend Dan, we are on a mission to give a locally hand-crafted wooden bench to a lovely, unsuspecting couple who Dan noticed were in need of such a gift. And what happens next is an unbelievable moment.

Jati (teak wood) Commonly use by Indonesian craftsman to make furniture. The famous teak wood in the world is from Blora not inferior to Burma's teak wood. And the famous craftsman is around Jepara, Pati, Rembang, Kudus.
We saw so many furniture stores! Every one of them had beautiful furniture that was hand carved and crafted!

There is one of the company which famous in the world if I can say. That is SANIHARTO. They sell product to some five stars hotels in the US, europe and middle east.
Back when Noraly (Itchy Boots) was traveling thru Brazil, she was puzzled seeing a plot of land filled with young teak trees. I couldn't help but laugh. I mean, Indonesia was colonized by the dutch. She is dutch. And yet, teak seemed to be something strange to her.

70% of Java's population lives on the northern coastline. It's almost impossible not to have traffic jams there and remote villages there. But you find that village which is still quiet which surprised me. Because most of those villages are in the middle of the island near the Java volcano line. Or even more remote ones on the southern coast. Some news says "like a boat, Java tilts to the north"

We hope, many more foreigner could have an experience how we are live in village, how they are got the food and sharing their food with you, and you can enjoyed on your plate on the table. Its a long journey. From seed becoming rice its a lot off effort , passion and compasion.Sometimes we don't realize we have thrown away the rest of our food. So If we could see and experience for ourselves how food is grown and reaches our dining table, we would appreciate what we eat more.Actually, we are connected everywhere in the world with food.
