It seems like German football stands for a lot of things that don't have essentially to do with the skills on the ball itself.
Defensive thinking, high pressing, high intensity and tactical variability are all seperated ideas apart from the quality of the players with the ball.
RB Leipzig is the best example for this.
They display all those above mentioned qualities except for technical good football.
They show how far you can get without having a lot of individual class.
You get far but not to the end.
Therefore I think German managers put the individual quality of their players not in one of the first three columns.
It's a nice to have but not necessarily needed attribute.
And this sounds strange to me.
I agree that you also need the other components BUT the individual quality of the players should also rank really high !

I don't think it's wrong way to succeed yes they need more organization and sophistication but it's their way of playing. They play it expressing themselves the most. And let's be honest when the best of it is in display it's enthralling to watch. It becomes more than a sport. It becomes a dance. Nothing like that in any football history. Germans have their own way of doing things. Let's celebrate and enjoy both approachs and learn from both not ridicule or criticize any.
