I had a uni filter on my 2014 for 5 or 6 years before I sold it, if you dont have snorkels its great. The gap around the top is only an issue with snorkels, the little gap around the filter is higher than the stock opening.
I am wondering if the filter inside the twin air is getting pushed down enough. Because you want it to seal at the bottom. It dust gets by the top it will just get stuck in the filter. If it gets by the bottom it will get sucked into the throttle body.
I did some research when i swapped my stock one out on my 2017, but NOT enough... I went with the K&N and if u think the stock or the uni is bad for fit at the top, try a K&N. Its taller yet and the colored plastic over the air filter won't sit right. I have the ability to make my own orings so i took of the gap problem but the cover still doesn't fit right. Just keep in mind K&N is worse yet, and yes i know that the gap doesn't create a filtering problem but it does allow more intake and engine noise to be heard right in front of u..
Very helpful...my uni does the same thing. Left about 1/8 inch gap...bought some 6x6 square rubber gasket material...going to cut it out and see if that will help...about to do sya snorkels and relocate radiator on my 07 700 kq
I also have the same thing. Thought about doing a rubber seal too... than I also started to wonder it it would let the filter sit tight against the bottom. As in you may not know, type of thing?
Just bought and installed the Twin Air today based on this video. It’s expensive but the fit is perfect.

It does fit good on the bottom side.
I guess if you put rim grease on it at the bottom. as well that would give that extra layer of protection.
