Man, I had know idea that you guys were so talented. I enjoyed KC on " Fast and Loud " but I'm blown away by the quality of (design and fabrication) that the guys in the shop produce. Not to mention Ericc, you do a super job on the video production. The folks at Discovery Channel should take heed to the entire format used in KCs Paint Shop. I'm a born and bred " Gearhead " from way back ( Hell I'm only 46 Lol ) but never the less I grew up loving this stuff and spent 25 yrs in the automotive business buying and selling pre-owned and collectible cars and trucks. So my interest in what you guys are producing on RUclips is over the top. It's Much better than watching a bunch of Jabroni's screaming at each other, throwing tools and trying to mascarade some unreal deadline to complete a customer build. Okay, enough of the RANT lol. Keep up the awesome work and as Richard Petty would say you guys are the "Real Deal". Take care and God bless...

Consider using a Falcon wagon tank. Very similar to Mustang, but the filler is on the side so you can route the pipe away from the center of the bed which isn't very practical anyway.
Twin turbo four-cylinder Mercedes sounds way better than the Coyote or Ls

Btw are you reusing the v12 flathead? I do know there were 3 types from 1936 to 1948. The 267,292, or the 306. Later went from the flathead V12 to 60 degree series flathead V8..

I think next week/weekend I am going to start practicing tig welding (don't worry not on customers vehicles haha) but yes I'd love to start working in the shop more as I feel like it would only help filming cause I could keep a camera rolling and I've been saying we need gopro headstraps to get some pov of work.

@@jeffhyde7934 I haven't done anything to my car that wasn't bolt on. I just fabricated the first piece for my car a few weeks ago and it came out pretty damn good, granted no welding was involved just cutting, routing and sanding which all happen to be backgrounds skills I have from being a carpenter/contractor. Im about as OCD as Zach when it comes to doing things. I'd rather spend more time doing it right with a better out come than cutting corners to get it right. Like I said they obviously wouldn't have me doing anything I wasn't capable of doing. For now i'm stuck doing parts runs....Thanks Garrett.

Any updates on the new location for the shop, or was that scrapped?
Not really sure man. There has been a lot of ongoing changes and until something is set in stone I just stopped asking. The new shop has changed more than my mind with motor options haha.
I'd still get rid of rust and get a rust converter on it without affecting patina.
Can you make a video how to prep the old patina please. I just bought an F 100 and I’m working on it.

1) Ls the Datsun Erick. People may whine but it's cheap, well engineered, light, and more compact than a Coyote; there's a reason everyone does them. 2) MoPar gen-3 hemi that Mercedes! Besides being different than an Ls or Coyote swap there's some family history there. edit: if the Merc is too small for a v8 then an Audi turbo 4? Hey, at least it's German.
For sure. Datsun is either getting an LS3 or a boosted inline. As far as my goals go for what I want to do and power and not to mention price for performance the LS just makes sense. Yes I'd love to have something unique but when i'm tearing shit up in the Z I honestly don't think I'll remember caring haha.

Well since the shop next door got leased out we had to empty it out which means my car had to come home but actually that's a blessing in disguise cause I work on it more now at home than at the shop cause I never had time. I post updates on my Facebook and Instagram. My friends keep telling me to start doing RUclips videos on the build and maybe once I purchase a powertrain I might do that.

I'd love to try a Barra build but the problem is importing and parts hunting. Everything else is a stupid wait for parts on these Z cars at this point I'd rather not wait any longer for power but thats just me speaking out of frustration. A barra build would be badass and far better than an RB or JZ. An ecoboost in the Benz would be radtastic!

try a ford Australian barra motor 6 cylinder turbo in the merc good for 500 to 700 hp and cheap and something different
I'd love to get one for my Z. Just not easy to find and ends up costing more than other options to import. I don't think it will fit in the tiny Mercedes either unfortunately.
What does KC charge (generalized) for a Coyote swap on the F100's
I don't think there is a set price really. It all depends on the amount of work your looking to get done but generally the starting point is $75 an hr for labor. Since we focus on full builds I wouldn't know what to tell you. I do know that the Mechanic Shop KC owns connected to the lube center is turning into a Hot Rod haven for smaller jobs (aka anything but full builds) He has like 3 classic hot rods in there right now that are all having stuff done to them. My dad recently blew the motor in his F150 and the mechanic shop swapped a brand new crate Coyote with Ford warranty for $7500 and that included labor as well. I can't say that will always be the case but that's about all I can give you. If your serious about that you might send an email to kcspaintshop@gmail.com or try calling the lube center and see if you can get a hold of KC.

I've talked about doing that the only thing is they have to be imported and not to mention there is stuff readily available to buy for them so that just means it's going to cost a lot. I'm hoping in the future they become a little more available in the states.

Fixed it! Well I told him to uninstall it and reinstall it a week ago and in typical dad fashion he waited forever to finally do it, but it's fixed!

Otherwise if its aluminum a fridge magnet with a soft back wont stick to aluminum :) we used to check for plastic filler in cars this way years ago also to tell if the car has been hit or not in a collision .Magnet wont stick if filler is too thick also .

The Z motor selection is a curious one. What are the plans for the car? driver? racer? show car? daily? Like you said in the video, you are not trying to make anyone else happy, so my opinion does not matter. Cough (please not another LS swap) cough cough. Bruce is a beast at sanding. and sanding, and sanding.
That's exactly where i'm at with it right now. PLANS.... Daily? Maybe but the roads to the shop are terrible, i'm about to sell my WRX and buy a truck (also because i'm moving out onto a ranch that's just all gravel and dirt roads) but I do plan to drive it on my 3 days off work and still occasionally to work so at the end of the day I feel like the goals are for it to be a Street Car that can be occasionally tracked for certain road events but mostly ripping around town and some videos. With that said it seems like an NA motor would be best for road course events and daily reliability and with that an NA with plenty of power would be a V8. Now I looked at going a route not traveled with the Z and doing a Ferrari V8 like the Corruptt Mustang but after getting all the information... well it was a nice dream. So logically bang for the buck would be an LS, small, lightweight and balanced for those cars. Now at the sametime I have wanted to do an Inline 6 turbo motor because I've loved that platform forever. I thought about being that purist who did an RB but after talking to so many people that own them they said I'd be better off putting my money into a 2jz which I love of course. Downside to that is with smaller displacement your putting everything into the top end of boost and I mean I guess it would be a cool car still but at the point those motors are better suited for drags and drifting than road coursing. So i'm torn all over the place, I have explored just about every avenue possible for the car. Having too many choices has just about become a curse.
@@Photobombin Well, planning is a good thing. I spent 2 weeks looking at cylinder heads and camshaft choices for a motor I already had in the car that ran fine. Then I had to pick another torque converter, then trans, then shifter, all for a Z that just goes drag racing with a trip to local Sonic planned. Like you mentioned a LS is a good choice for your plans, and can make silly power easy and not cost a kidney or a first born kiddo. Could always throw in a old school SBC (had one in mine since 1990), or Ford stuff. When all done paint it Graphite blue, so we can call it gray like the truck is. HA!

Try your community college they might have am automotive tech class ,I know when I went to a community college I tried to enroll in the automotive shop they were full they sent me to the welding department that was the best thing they could have done for me I became a welder for 18 year's. I grew up around the mechanics my father and brother, uncle and many wrecking yards around my home. Buy an old car and do research on how to lots of books at the library and you have RUclips. I didn't have it when I learned to weld I had to practice practice practice and study book's.
@@zianian yup that's how I learned in my friend's uncle's body shop swept and learned by watching and the guy that own the shop explain why all the time he did it that way.
Find a body shop and tell the owner you want learn.
What Hot Rod shops RUclips channel has no burnout video's? In fact how does it survive with only 4 employee's working?? As of lately all the "fire" seams to be dead in the video's and on the shop updates. It use to be buzzing in the shop, now quiet as a church mouse!
Everyone's projects are out of commission and KC has nothing for burnouts so I feel you on that front. I go out and film a lot of burnouts and drifting in my free time with Lone Star Drift guys but last time I posted everyone cried about it cause it was Japanese cars and not Hot Rods. As far as survival goes everyone is working their asses off because productivity is actually higher now than when we had 8 people. However we could use more crew with equal or greater value to really get stuff done. I understand if it's not as exciting as it use to be but that's life. Just rolling with the punches.

Maybe the Mercedes. We already looked into it for the Z and for the money and performance I might as well go a different direction cause the motor is to bulky and literally leaves no space between the strut towers and would require cutting up the firewall for best fitment.

@@dalehall2993 it's possible. I'm torn over wanting a smaller boosted motor or a v8. My car only weighs 2000lbs and my power goals are really only 400-500hp which is a shitload for a lightweight unibody car.
@@dalehall2993 NA would be great for road racing and SCCA events but at the same time I'm not a baller so idk how many actually race events I'd do. In the end really it will be a street car I plan to drive a bunch.
