Man this brings to me the importance of having a team of like minded people to encourage you to get things done. I always lift alone, and rarely talk to people, but I feel as though that needs to change.
Where I go it's the same faces at the usual times I go. We all say Hi and chat etc but don't interject with each others workouts. The result is zero spotting but longer workout times 'cos we all chat too much! It's hard to get a 'stranger' to spot and encourage.
Bro I can't workout with others idk man it takes me out of my element. I do got alotta freinds at the gym though cause I see the same doods literally almost every night. I always say wassup we talk, about lifts, girls at the gym, what muscle group were doing or maybe give a spot here and there, smoke afterwards but idk having a lifting partner just isn't the vibe for me a tried it before with some of my friends but I like to do my own volume, my own routine and sometime if your partner likes to do things differently it doesn't work fr fr.
I find it best to workout alone. If you know what you're doing and where you're going, I think it's best to workout alone. I can focus better and build a better mind to muscle connection while working out alone.
@@TheBlurReturns16 In my case it was the other way around. I had some elbow pain since a year and I was doing some stretches and extra warmup for that. My partner was a newbie and I used to instruct him in the gym and instead of doing what I am telling him to do, he would imitate all my movements and would keep staring at me the whole time while I am working out, instead of focusing on his workout. The reason being he liked my physique very much and wanted a physique like me so he thought copying all what I am doing would change his muscle insertions and genetics.
I like the way at 10:18 Mike tried to match the dude in the black hoodie for weight…black hoodie gets 2 reps, Mike barely gets one, then Mikes lady cuts to a shot of their dog, to save him the embarrassment of struggling and not getting that second rep. 😂 Classic edit. And yo! The hair!!! 😂😂😂
Just remembered that i haven't been doing these for some years now. Thanks for reminding us how much these good-old close grip bench press are effective.👍👍👍👍👍💪💪💪💪💪
"There are a lot of ways to do it wrong." On God almighty! I switched to JM press because for some reason my close grip benching always kills my shoulders. Only on very lucky sets on super lucky days do I get a triceps pump from it. But I've been wanting to do close grip for ages. Thank you for this vid!
man I'm not a big fan of yours but I have to admit that you are a giant in the fitness industry and every time youtube recommends a clip to me with you, I watch it and learn something new.
Love this exercise .Noticed the thumb is completely wrapped around bar on this one vs what I usually see on most chest exercises. Titan has always been my Hero!
The only one in that gym i could lift more than is the dog...and thats debatable ...As an old absolute beginner its nice to see how to do things properly though ...never too old to start and try I suppose even though they are laughing at me in my gym just now i kinda find that motivational.
People over the age of 40 struggle with testosterone and putting muscle and here you have Mike Ohearn, a lifetime natural packing on muscle past 50! How does he do it?
Mike ive thought about using my lifting shoes for bench. I see you have yours on. Does it help with leg drive on bench? I looking for a way to incorporate my legs into my bench. I dont think i have leg drive when i bench. I want to try using my shoes to help .
How cold was it out there? We had that front come down and it's now down here in South Louisiana...we're going to be around freezing in the early morning hours. I don't know if I could work out in freezing temps.
I really like the idea of Hitting a heavy single then dropping down bellow working weight for the next volume sets. That way you get a bit of a break and work your way back. I am used to going right into heavy working sets.
Mike (or anybody else), would you say a Close Grip "Incline" Bench Press is a good exercise as well? Been doing Incline Bench Press on my chest focus days, and Close Grip Bench Press on my triceps focus days? Thanks!
anyone who knows the name of that accessory for the bar or who can help me with a link? Cause I've been struggling since last night to find it and I can't. And I really want one. Thanks
It would seem to me that rolling forward at the bottom of the rep reduces range of motion in the chest and arms. I've developed this habit on my bench to remove that last inch or 2 of the movement vs using a 4 inch block in order to save on stress to my front delts.
Mike O'Tren with another great tip. Who would've ever thought to lift heavy to get big? Thank the Gods for this innovator🙌
