I’m sad we finally made it to the final Jason movie…I was always excited for your reviews every year on a Friday the 13th. It’s been a hell of a journey, but thank you Tony!
The thing with Travis Van Winkles character is that he's likely supposed to be the same character from Transformers, both are named Trent and both are Platinum Dunes productions. If you look it up they have different last names, but they're never said in the movies (Transformers at least), so that's probably a liability thing to appease one of the rights holders.
I love that in the 2009 remake, Jason moves faster, basically runs in one scene. The cast nailed the dialogue of what teens would sound like in that era of society. The actor who played Jason KILLED it. The only thing I didn’t like about it was the fact that Jason kidnapped the girl from the beginning even know the intro is great. The camping scene is 10/10 Friday the 13th vibes.
My brother in law was a MASSIVE Friday the 13th fan. He hated this film when it came out, so I refused to see it for years. When I finally watched it, I just didnt understand the hatred. This film is so fun and definitely is in the spirit of the franchise. Wish the legal trouble would clear up already. Also, I noticed you mentioned Clancy Brown. That reminds me... Tony, Highlander when?
Fun fact. Tony alludes to the hairy hands of Mrs. Voorhees from the original. Those hands belonged to Tom Savini's friend who worked with him, Taso Stavrakis. I was his son's 11th grade English teacher
I saw this in the theater in 2009 and I liked it. Didn’t love it but for Friday the 13th film- it did what it needed to do. I think that Friday the 13th hasn’t been perfect at all. But I just like Jason he’s badass.
Hey Tony, I just wanna say, don't forget to cover the Final Destination movies continuing with Final Destination 2 (2003)! Bring Casey back for that movie as she expressed interest in being part of the review for that. Or have Casey back for "Urban Legend (1998)", that works as well! Don't forget, please!
1:16:44 “She really jumped to murder really quick, didn’t she?” In the original Friday The 13th, Jason drowned in 1958. Pamela Voorhees waited 22 years before she massacred everyone at Camp Crystal Lake, Tony. This movie doesn’t outright say how long after Jason drowned before Pamela started killing people, but if it follows the original story, it was 22 years. That’s what makes the opening scene so confusing, cuz either Jason was still a child when he collected his mother’s head and machete (which deviates from the original story), or he was a ghost that held onto her head and machete, and dug tunnels under Camp Crystal Lake lol. The early movies (everything prior to Part 6, where we actually see him come back to life) are also confusing about what Jason actually was. Either Alice (the survivor in Part 1) hallucinated young Jason attacking her (like they implied), and Jason was a fully grown man that actually didn’t drown and lived in the woods there for 22 years), or he was a ghost that did attack her, then aged himself up for Part 2 which takes place just days later, 2 weeks I think.
Alice did hallucinate Jason. It's common knowledge that the endings of the first three movies were dreams. The original ending of part four was supposed to be a dream too, until it was decided to make part four the final chapter. RUclips has the original ending
I love it when Casey is on the show! She is so beautiful; especially when she looks into the camera! ❤❤ I love this channel Tony, your sense of humor is out of this world! I love the first part of the movie but because it’s over 20 minutes the second part seemed rushed.
Derek Mears is such a terrifying Jason and one of my favorites! Met him at Monster Mania last year and he couldn't have been a cooler guy, even spent a few minutes talking to me with a long line behind me, definitely glad I was first in his line lol
One thing people usually get wrong in the remake is Jason coming back to life after drowning. He actually survived the attack from the kids and watched his mom's deth. He's just a normal human guy in this movie who learned to survive and I love him for it. The ending is purposely left ambiguous when he jumps through the dock. I personally interpret it as a hallucination she has, and that's what I've heard a lot of people say too.
Hey, great video!! Yeah, the 2009 version of Friday The 13th is one of my favorites. It's definitely in my top five. Derek Mears is awesome as Jason, he's fast, he sets traps and hunts, he's a violent unstoppable force of nature. You do have your typical characters that you'll have in a Friday The 13th film, Trent, the HERO of the film is one of my favorite characters!! Think about it, the friends he invited are trashing his place and to top it off Clay steals his girl Jenna, WTF??!!!! There was a rumor of a sequel to this film which would've had Jason in a Winter setting, which could've been interesting. Sadly, the lawsuits destroyed any chance of that happening. I do believe that this will get resolved. We've got to have a thirtheenth film of Friday The 13th. keep up the good work!!
I took jason being alive in the beginning as him not drowning maybe just disappearing and his mom crazy with grief killing the counselors for revenge like later that same day, then he grew up in the woods
To me Trent's the HERO!! His friends are trashing his place and to add insult to injury, Clay steals his girl Jenna!! Trent could still be alive though. The truck could've gotten him to a hospital. They need Trent in the sequel to this!!!
@@JohnDavis-cw6yv that’s what I’m saying! Clay only cared about his sister and all those innocent people killed on the process. Trent might’ve been a bit arrogant but he was literally the only one with common sense
Fun fact: Casey mentioned Nolan (Ryan Hansen) as being in That's So Raven. Well I remember seeing this movie in theaters, and even at the time noticing Travis Van Winkle was also in That's So Raven. Along with Danielle Panabaker who was in Stuck in the Suburbs, a Disney Channel Movie.
This movie did a lot better a job doing callbacks to the older ones than the Elm street remake. I enjoyed this a lot, especially seeing how Jason had traps and that network of tunnels to explain his ability to "warp" to places. As a fan of the game I enjoyed his trapper aspect and him running at full speed at his size reminded me of Nemesis from re3 which was a plus in my book. Derek Mears did a fantastic job I liked his Jason, he was built like a tank and reminded me of part 3 Jason which is one of my favorites. I also like how he had both the bag head and the hockey mask. I'm glad I have the killer cut and unlike the Freddy remake I actually rewatch this a couple of times with the rest of them during Halloween. It's a shame that the franchise got tied up in that whole legal mess, especially because I enjoyed the game and the Killer Puzzle game, I used to do the daily puzzles every morning lol. I really thought after this we'd see more of Jason but at this point we haven't seen a movie in a long time.
"It looks too sleak!" Is a complaint I hear often, Well when you've sat through 9 movies of middlely competent filmmaking, continuity errors, editing and sound mistakes, grainy fuzzy bargain cameras, and every telltale of budget constraints (as much as I love these movies), it's nice to end your marathon with the closest we'll come to a true cinematic experience, where every aspect is dialed in by people who know what they're doing. It's funny when this trashy horror franchise gets a movie that's objectively more technically competent than ANY of the previous installments, and the "die hard fans" (and new young fans who repeat them, thx dead meat) have to fight their member-berries to admit this might be the only true "film" in the series (pt 6 has great directing but is too silly), where the crew and director weren't occasionally sleepwalking through it to get the day over, but most won't do that outside of muttering "remake Jason's cool", the remake is absolutely better, but that doesn't undo any badass Jason moments or little swafts of good camerawork or music from the past movies, it's just that's all they are to most people, and this one has NO FLAB to trim, no shoehorned gimmicks from some hotshot who wants to copy something they saw the other day (which all the movies suffer from at least once), the care and self awareness that went into every detail to stay true to the series' formula and tone, while improving techniques and fleshing out the world and Jason's character to not make him so much like Michael Myers (as he was admittedly a ripoff of). This is the one to sit down for, and use to introduce people, the other ones are best for popping on and doing stuff around the house, feeling that fuzzy warm f13 vibe.
Mmmmm idk cause Joe Zitto and Tom Mcloughin busted their ass on 6 and 4. Both directors had good actors, good camera work, great effects, great soundtrack and I could go on. This was one of my favorite friday the 13th movies. I thought it was really interesting how jason was more capable in some ways. Like being able to run and having secret tunnels throughout the camp. Makes more sense how he would catch up to people. This and the first halloween movie by rob zombie i thought were some of the best horror remakes of that era

Talking about tapes hack the movies good choice with the Jason remake pretty much most probably the best horror remake in a pretty good while I guess lol
One thing that people commonly get wrong in the remake is that Jason comes back to life. He actually never drowned and survived the attack by the kids, and he had witnessed his mom get killed. He's just a normal regular human guy in this movie, but the ending where he jumps back up through the dock is purposely left ambiguous. It can be interpreted as a hallucination and that's what most people (including me) think it is.
I think this might be the best slasher REMAKE simply because it doesn't try to reinvent the wheel....it's just such a solid meat and potatoes slasher flick. The theatrical cut is best. One extra second of blood/violence is not worth ten extra minutes of run time. It just bogs it down. Theatrical is edited more elegantly....so to speak and moves fast..
What's that? The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 is the best slasher remake? Yeah. But seriously, why is the Friday the 13th remake now getting positive buzz? Last I checked, it was being grilled. What happened, were people recalibrated by the Nightmare on Elm Street remake?
Justice for Trent he was valid throughout the whole movie his girl was out all night with a stranger I don’t like I bet I feel on something stupendous too
So glad I could finally be on a Friday the 13th review!!
Also, is Jason hot or not? 🤣
After watching this, you need to visit the Gathering of the Juggalos

He's just a normal regular human guy in this movie, but the ending where he jumps back up through the dock is purposely left ambiguous. It can be interpreted as a hallucination and that's what most people (including me) think it is.
But then why was Ms. Voorhees killing people if Jason didn't die
@@strifenineteen It was assumed that he died. She thinks he's dead like she said in the opening, and I think it's logged in public records that he is
3:32 “Shia LaBeouf”
Travis van winkle plays in the new roadhouse movie too looks unrecognizable in that
I think this might be the best slasher REMAKE simply because it doesn't try to reinvent the wheel....it's just such a solid meat and potatoes slasher flick. The theatrical cut is best. One extra second of blood/violence is not worth ten extra minutes of run time. It just bogs it down. Theatrical is edited more elegantly....so to speak and moves fast..
Great episode
It is SO strange seeing an actual attractive person on this show. 😂
Who?
Been waiting for this one
friday the 13th remake in 2009 was the movie that made me realize that remakes and reboots were a thing.
Yep sadly only 12 movies
What's that? The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2003 is the best slasher remake? Yeah.
But seriously, why is the Friday the 13th remake now getting positive buzz? Last I checked, it was being grilled. What happened, were people recalibrated by the Nightmare on Elm Street remake?
Justice for Trent he was valid throughout the whole movie his girl was out all night with a stranger I don’t like I bet I feel on something stupendous too
He had no moral ground to stand on. He was cheating

Yeaaayy it's blondie movie experts x 2 😃 and ... Tony
Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the best slasher remake, Mother's Day is #2, imo
Brandon T. Jackson is the goat, he is in Tropic Thunder.
