While I learned how to read music in elementary school/middle school playing trumpet, I only learned about the treble clef...we never were taught that the clefs were connected!! MIND BLOWN🤯Thanks for these great videos - I am learning something every time I watch them.

I learned a lot of this in school when I was learning clarinet. But I've forgotten so much, and you explain it better than my music teacher did back then. For bass clef lines, I like "Good Burritos Don't Fall Apart."

Good Bassists Don't Finger Any Chords. (Which is a joke I have... I love bass chords)
For the treble clef it's Every Guitarist Blisters Da' Fingers. (Silly, I know)

I “played” in a garage band in the 60s (didn’t everybody?) and never took ANY music. I NEVER knew the relationship of the treble and bass clef until today! I always wondered “How far apart are these 2 clefs?” Now, I know they are 3 half steps apart with middle C smack in between them. Thanks for teaching this old dog a new trick.

Once again Ms Gracie your stellar ability to teach comes through. And to do this while really ill is heroic. As one who has struggled with sight reading, I am ashamed to say, i never understood how to connect the Treble and Bass Clef's together. With your teaching today, well, it totally makes sense and opens the door to so much. Ever appreciative of your willingness to share all this knowledge and share it well.

I played simple songs=once i hit the right note I'd move up/down accordingly. It was more responding than actual reading. A confidence builder if U will. Bass clef always threw Me. Maybe tomorrow I'll remember a bit or 2. Ms G is the Best.

Wow! Understanding that the two staves are linked made it so much easier to read bass clef instantaneously. I, too, handicapped myself by focusing more of the mnemonic than the letter names. I look forward to practicing bass clef with this new revelation in mind. Great work and thank you for sharing this video.

The easiest way I have found to teach kids is GBD (gibidy or just gbd) Face. Also pointing out the F shape on the bass clef...in between the 2 dots of the 'F' and the circle of the 'G' on the treble clef pointing out the G.
Also showing where 'FACE' starts on both clefs. Then 'GBD' takes the 3 middle lines on the treble. The 3 lowest on the bass.
Kids pick it up so quickly.
