Hello Gracie ! I am senior citizen trying to learn piano. I tried so many utube channels to learn piano but fortunately i came across your channel and found you have excellent way of explaiñing which a normal man can understand. So keep it up. Take care and " God bless you !
While I learned how to read music in elementary school/middle school playing trumpet, I only learned about the treble clef...we never were taught that the clefs were connected!! MIND BLOWN🤯Thanks for these great videos - I am learning something every time I watch them.
Here i am ,learning music theory and finding it interesting at 81. Guitar beginner , you are not giving me the choice , i will have to listen to all your videos. How can you make it so easy and interesting , ? You are a magician….. Now i see my guitars (folk and spanish) with different eyes and new great opportunities . Merci Andre Poulin Montreal Quebec .
I learned a lot of this in school when I was learning clarinet. But I've forgotten so much, and you explain it better than my music teacher did back then. For bass clef lines, I like "Good Burritos Don't Fall Apart."
Good Bassists Don't Finger Any Chords. (Which is a joke I have... I love bass chords) For the treble clef it's Every Guitarist Blisters Da' Fingers. (Silly, I know)
I’m delighted that I came across your teachings. Not only are you very easy on the eyes, but your instruction technic is beautiful as well. Very encouraged to view so much more of your classes. ❤
I “played” in a garage band in the 60s (didn’t everybody?) and never took ANY music. I NEVER knew the relationship of the treble and bass clef until today! I always wondered “How far apart are these 2 clefs?” Now, I know they are 3 half steps apart with middle C smack in between them. Thanks for teaching this old dog a new trick.
Hoping your illness is temporary in nature, and that you are on the road to a quick recovery. You are my go-to person for music theory, and I enjoy your lessons as well.
This is my Christmas present Now I have something to do over the Holiday . Keep them coming to (part 12 ) Thank You . Gracie You the best teacher ever . 🔥 🔥 🔥
I thought exactly the same when I saw this video in my notifications. I've been desperately looking to gift myself a book or course to learn to read music.
Love this teacher ❤️ ! She knows the simple ways to get the messages across to us layman and dummies! No offense! She s got the gift of teaching that works well! Do more sweet heart ❤️!
Thank you Gracie, everytime I need to scrub up on musical theory I reference your channel, intelligently presented and makes it accessible for anyone who is either learning or improving their reading skills. Much appreciation from Ireland
Once again Ms Gracie your stellar ability to teach comes through. And to do this while really ill is heroic. As one who has struggled with sight reading, I am ashamed to say, i never understood how to connect the Treble and Bass Clef's together. With your teaching today, well, it totally makes sense and opens the door to so much. Ever appreciative of your willingness to share all this knowledge and share it well.
I played simple songs=once i hit the right note I'd move up/down accordingly. It was more responding than actual reading. A confidence builder if U will. Bass clef always threw Me. Maybe tomorrow I'll remember a bit or 2. Ms G is the Best.
Wow! Understanding that the two staves are linked made it so much easier to read bass clef instantaneously. I, too, handicapped myself by focusing more of the mnemonic than the letter names. I look forward to practicing bass clef with this new revelation in mind. Great work and thank you for sharing this video.
Don't play an instrument but love music of all kinds! So I decided to learn how to read music. Gracie you are a natural at teaching!!! I've watched several other videos for beginners and they were all confusing with the order in which they taught. Thank You!
I didn’t know the All Boys Do Fine etc, so I always had to begin with either middle C, F or G. I was taught that in the base clef, F is on the line between the dots and in the treble clef G is placed on the line where the little s shape ends.
You said it just right. Mnemonics slowed me down. I got better at reading notes when I forced myself to know the space and line notes by sight rather than a dependence on mnemonics. Thanks.
The easiest way I have found to teach kids is GBD (gibidy or just gbd) Face. Also pointing out the F shape on the bass clef...in between the 2 dots of the 'F' and the circle of the 'G' on the treble clef pointing out the G. Also showing where 'FACE' starts on both clefs. Then 'GBD' takes the 3 middle lines on the treble. The 3 lowest on the bass. Kids pick it up so quickly.
GREAT PRESENTATION OF THE BASICS ... 65 YEARS LATER I AM TRYING TO GAIN SOME PROFECIENCY IN READING MUSICAL NOTES ... THIS EXERCISE I FIND MOST HELPFUL ... THANK YOU DEAR ... IT BUILDS CONFIDENCE ...
Hi Gracie sorry to hear you are unwell. I hope you feel bette very soon, take care and thank you so much for the video. I've always been afraid to look at staves, they look so complex but you have helped to break it down simply for us to understand.
You are a blessing! I love the way you teach God has gifted you in this area among many others just wanted to say thank you for helping it all make sense
What a great way to start the New Year! Happy solstice to you and yours. Just what I need, cerebral calisthenics for my music theory evolvement applicable to my music journey. All from a superlative teacher, finest on the planet.
Get well soon! This is perfectly done, I can't wait to go in-depth with this one. Re: pneumonics, I've always preferred just the letters for some reason, it's almost easier somehow than a phrase.
Once again you achieved the impossible. You were able to make the intervals make sense. Now this!. This channel already competes with Berklee. Thanks for your dedication and get well soon!
Gracie, Stop it already! You're making learning easy. I thought it had to take years! 😁 I've learned so much from your videos in the last two days! Subbed and looking forward to every notification!!
YOU.. Are good at this teaching thing. I am very impressed because I find I am hard to teach yet I am picking this up pretty quickly. Thanks for being here. I hope you get better, if you are still sick
Nice Gracie, nice and easy to understand thanks to your wonderful method of teaching xxxx oh and merry merry Christmas and a very happy and peaceful new year x
This is a really good review. I had very little music theory and it was a very long time ago. I started off watching your circle of fifths video all the way through to the intervals. Now I'm going to start from the very beginning of your videos and go all the way through it again I'm really going to have to draw out that circle it's very informational. I forgot what sus meant. It's in there somewhere. Thanks for the info, have a great day!
Since you shared and requested for us to share the mnemonics I read the first three line on the treble clef as "Electric Giant Butt - EGB". I am Persian and I read the first three notes on the bass cleff as "GENE BE DEEN- GBN" means in Persian as "Devil without faith.
I analyzed the spaces and lines on the grand staff over the past summer pretty thoroughly with SATB voice leading exercises. It was painful but well worth it.

Thank you for taking the time to teach us all that do not know much about music theory. You seem to make things extremely simple
She can make the circle of 5ths/4ths simple too. She was the only one who can break it down into bite sized bits. Definitely a great music teacher!

Paul Jones When I was learning to read music on the bass clef on the space, I thought Ace hardware store A.C.E and G on the top space

Thank you Gracie for making it look easy to learn to read music.
Every Good Boy Does Fine ... when he's taught the right line .. which is especially true in this musical context . Thanksalot from Munich, Germany 🙋🌻
A solid refresher course. Thank you and merry Christmas
The easiest way I have found to teach kids is GBD (gibidy or just gbd) Face. Also pointing out the F shape on the bass clef...in between the 2 dots of the 'F' and the circle of the 'G' on the treble clef pointing out the G.

I analyzed the spaces and lines on the grand staff over the past summer pretty thoroughly with SATB voice leading exercises. It was painful but well worth it.
Wonderful Video. Kids I was teaching already had a phrase for treble clef lines:
Elephants Got Big Dirty Feet
