I've supported Spartan throughout the years. I can't accept this. Extremely disappointed and upset.
I feel horrible for his teammates and the org. I made sure to drop some money on complexity gear as I just got paid. It's not much but they deserve something.
Gaining any advantage in a purpose-built level playing field is cheating. He cheated at LAN. This isn't a $5k prize purse where you bring your own computer; we're competing for $250K. Anyone who's competed at LAN would understand how laughably silly Sparty's actions are. Disappointing.

The SSDs provided have windows, and preinstalled software by HCS like white noise software. Also has their account and in game settings to save on setup time.

People who defend any "extra advantage" are the problem. Cheating is cheating, and the punishment for "minor assists" shouldn't be any less severe than the punishment for aimboting or wallhacking.

Are you permitted to bring your own controllers to Lan tourneys? My keyboard needs it's software running to function. Is that considered unofficial? Or is the ssd the biggest problem?

@cocopuffz604 peripherals are submitted to tourney admins before the tournament. So the keyboard software is allowed as long as the admins know and allow it. I'm guessing they also monitor which softwares are being downloading.
Why feel sorry for Spartan? He clearly knew what he was doing and screwed his team over because of it. I would be fuming at this dude.
It could be a controller overclock, a system cooling software, or maybe a command to make Halo a high priority. I don't think he actually is using scripts for aim or anything related.

@@stevenduryea6482 - I mean, murder is a little different than cheating in Halo. But I agree that cheating is a big deal. Sparty had to be removed the tourney. It's possible they could have kept Complexity in the tourney and let someone else play, but if I recall correctly, normally cheating from one player is automatically grounds for disqualificaiton for the whole team. It happened in India I believe in COD.

Classifying this as cheating is a gross misrepresentation. This is just some “respect my authority the rules are the rules even when they are dumb and nonsensical” bs. Competitive integrity is paramount. The best player in NFL history was suspended over possibly knowing footballs had a lower psi than regulated. The rules are the rules is the only way to operate a league
Not classifying it as cheating would be a gross misrepresentation you dunce. Whatever opinion you have on how the PCs are optimized doesn’t change the fact that they aren’t- the players are playing on the same specs so that everyone is on a level playing field. There are standards in every single sport that remains the same for all players.
I guess people don’t realize having 300 fps over 270fps is literally an unnoticeable change. It’s the rules so yeah fine him or just tell him he can’t do it and move on.

DQing the whole team is crazy. If someone in baseball gets caught taking steroids, the league does not suspend the whole team.
So what's your suggestion then? Immediately sub in a random player, further complicating the situation? Unfortunately they're in an active tournament and don't have a bench of players to sub in.
Why would that further complicate the situation? A random player would be fine. They probably have a coach that could step in. Lunchbox has stepped in for Optic online.
I tell everyone if you want to do this then just play on Xbox series X don't do PCS I even tell people online that because everybody thinks that everybody else is cheating so everyone should just get an Xbox series X and then everyone will be on the same ground and no cheating got it good.
